  1. Another option which I've used a few times is the first MCG carpark as you head north up Punt Rd past Brunton Ave. I think there's a Richmond club room there or something. Anyway, that car park has been open every time I've been past, it's completely free, and there have always been spaces available. It's a relatively short walk through the MCG gardens, over the bizarrely steep pedestrian footbridge across the train tracks, and you end up directly in front of AAMI. Maybe a 10 minute walk.
  2. No mate. We tried to save it. You're thinking of the 'Fan Representative Group', most of whom hate active support and are actively campaigning to get rid of the song (apparently). Alex, bit hard to explain in detail here but basically like any committee, president chairs meetings, secretary keeps minutes and calls meetings, treasurer writes cheques. Other roles are basically assigned tasks at meetings. Meetings are at agreed times, and generally aren't more often than once every 6 weeks, unless there's a big event coming up. It's not too involved. We have the Heartcast and Schip Happens which are ongoing (or on a break), but they only involve the people who work on them. Other than that, we run a couple of fun fundraising events for supporters throughout the year. E.g. 5-a-side tournament, season launch. Other ideas pending and welcome. We're trying to do more and reach more people every year.
  3. Hi All, The 2013 Annual General Meeting of Red & White Unite Association will be held at the Imperial Hotel, this Sunday the 24th of November 2013 before the Newcastle away game. Start time is 3.00 pm. As per all previous years, the AGM agenda is an election of 6 Committee members. 4 of these Committee members will need to be elected as office holders (i.e. President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Secretary). If you are interested in standing for a position, please post your nominations below. Everyone is invited, new faces and old, and everyone is welcome to stand for election. Many of the old RWU guard are no longer able to commit the time and energy to the club that they once did, so it is time for some new people to bring fresh ideas and life to the official Melbourne Heart Supporters Association. If you've ever felt disconnected with other supporters or felt frustrated with the direction of the club, and have some positive ideas or just plain enthusiasm for Melbourne Heart, please do come along! RWU enjoys a positive relationship with club officials so there's a good opportunity to let your voice be heard. Any questions, feel free to ask - or just rock up! - Gabi RWU Committee Member
  4. The legendary Dennis Bergkamp v Newcastle goal. Sooo good. Anyway, have you lads heard of these guys? Looks like they make some nice stuff. @SubbuteoArt on Twitter.
  5. Thanks for the feedback, 'bud', but I'm not your 'honey'. It's true we won't ever please everyone, but SHT is a feel-good song that the majority seem to enjoy. The foundations of any tradition start from something that was no doubt viewed sceptically by some. We have to give it a chance to grow. Anyway, just my opinion.
  6. Hi folks, haven't been on the forum in a while so sorry if there is a thread dedicated to this topic already. Searched around for a bit and couldn't find one, so thought I'd just leave this here. I sent this email to the club in response to their request for feedback on the club songs for this season. I presume there are some similar opinions from people on here?
  7. Pretty keen for Wellington in February and Adelaide last away game in April. The rest depends on funds and exam timetables :/
  8. Policies that matter to me: - Funding for Public Education (Probably Greens but in reality no one) - More spending on Mental Health initiatives and training particuarly in rural areas (no one, maybe Greens or even K.A.P) - Getting rid of subsidies / corporate Welfare for the Car Industry to reinvest into education and skills in differnet more comeptitive industries in Australia (Liberal) - Stronger Tax on mining profits (Effectively No One) - Continuation of Carbon Tax (Labor) - Furthering the RET's scheme. (Greens) - Shift in Foreign Policy to less reliance on the USA and a change in particular to stances on Israel including harsher/fairer sanctions on its Nuclear Weapons program (probably Greens but they're far too hardcore in their policy) - Better relations with Indonesia and China as strategic partners in the Asia-Pacific (Effectively No-one) - Gay Marriage (Greens) - Better treatment of Refugees including legalization of ability to seek asylum via air travel and increased foreign aid to assist refugees living in Indonesia/Malaysia to increase oppourtunity cost of boarding a boat to Australia in comparison to remaining in Southeast Asia (Greens sort of) -Business confidence boosting through consistent policy creating stablity(no one) And, most importantly, Bullet train between Canberra-Sydney and Canberra developed as NSW's second airport. SO effectively i don't want to vote for anyone, because i don't like the Greens. Eh..will probably vote for Bullet Train Party in Senate and Labor for local member because Andrew Leigh is a top bloke and former lecturer in economics, so he knows what he's doing. Genuinely curious as to why you don't like the Greens enough to not vote for them when they seem to [be the only party who] represent a majority of the policies that are important to you? Incidentally, I share your views on many of those policies - although I would add investment in metropolitan public transport infrastructure (especially rail) to the list too. According to Tesla this is a Labor promise so definitely something for me to think about.
  9. I think you'll find that by the last home game this initiative had been cancelled. Security were explicitly turning back GA tickets and checking for Active memberships again. Despite the original announcement saying it would go until the end of the season. So safe to say I think Active memberships will be continuing next season. But seriously, open up memberships like yesterday. Our season was effectively over after the Brisbane game (if not earlier), would have been great to renew at that point to have something positive to look forward to! Each new season is a begun with a fresh slate after all.
  10. Great trip, fantastic weekend, shit game. Will be back, Brisbane!
  11. Ok well first adjectives always go directly before the noun. Then there are two kinds of adjectives, 'i' and 'na' adjectives. The latter take a 'na' particle between the adjective and the noun. 'i' adjectives just appear in their basic form with no particle. Does that make sense? I can explain better with examples if you like.
  12. Getting really excited for this trip now. So happy that last week isn't my last 'live' game of the season. Don't really care what happens on the pitch (although obviously a win would be nice) - it's going to be an amazing weekend! See you tomorrow, Brisbane!
  13. Not fluent but I did quite well in Year 12 Japanese. Albeit that was over 6 years ago... What's your question?
  14. To be honest I don't know that we need a separate ladies' group as such. Maybe just a channel of communication so we are able to find out who else is out there, and meet up with each other at games if we are feeling isolated amongst the sea of men. I can't really see myself using such a service much, but then I've already got lots of friends at Heart. Someone (especially a younger girl) interested in the Club who is looking to come to matches but has no-one to come with might feel more comfortable if she knew there were friendly female faces around. So idea has potential I guess but I'm not really sure what direction it should go in or who should take it there haha. Posts like this one give some inkling of why a genuine football-loving girl might not feel welcome at the boy's club that is Yarraside
  15. A good friend of mine moved to Germany a year ago. She is visiting Melbourne this month. She will be at the Western Sydney game Of course, it helped that she was already a Heart fan haha. Incidentally, her next-door neighbour (in Australia) is marrying Adrian Leijer...
  16. This probably isn't the thread for this, but there is one umbrella website. That website is redwhiteunite.com. One of the aspects of that website is a forum, which has a direct link here. It is of course also possible to access this forum through the direct mhfcsupporters.com address. The reasons for a separate web address are historical due to the merger between the old redwhiteunite and yarraside forums. However, it's just a technicality now. Hope that helps Also yes, please can we have some feedback from last night.
  17. I can tell you that this exact question was answered by David Lyon when we interviewed him on the Heartcast a few weeks ago (it was the episode that came out the week after the Fan Forum/Derby). He also answered a wide variety of other questions and described what his job entails from his perspective so for anyone not on this new representative group (like myself) it could be well worth a listen. Actually, you guys should all listen to the Heartcast every week and make full use of our supporter resources

Ok. Got inspired after watching the movie last week. Brought back memories of seeing the musical in my childhood Now I don't expect most of you to support this SONG (definitely not a chant), because 1) it's from a musical and 2) it's probably too long and people fail at learning lyrics as is. HOWEVER I personally believe this is a very inspiring song, and given the original context is revolutionary lads trying to fire themselves up in the face of almost certain death, I think some very potent analogies could be drawn to Heart and to the Yside. So, with that in mind, I present to you my offering without really expecting it to take off. Note: lyrics are still somewhat a work in progress. I have underlined sections where I have suggested several options. If there is a somewhat positive response to this I will make an effort to fine-tune the lyrics. Chorus is italicised. Note two: strong trumpet potential behind this song. 2min video. Whole song really. Starts off slow and quiet, builds to be loud and powerful with a huge chorus of voices. Lyrics: Do you hear the terrace sing, Singing and chanting on our feet? It is the music of a fanbase/terrace/the yside Who will not accept defeat. When the beating of our drum Echoes a goal that’s just been scored/just gone in We’re gonna be top of the league When tomorrow comes. Will you join in our crusade? Who will stand up and sing with us? Forget the Vic-tor-y scum It’s in Heart that you must trust. So join in the songs that will give them the drive to succeed! Do you hear the terrace sing, Singing and chanting on our feet? It is the music of a fanbase/terrace/the yside Who will not accept defeat. Will you give all you can give so that The Heart boys feel our pride? We might lose but we could win Will you stand up and help decide? The beer that will flow at fulltime will flood all our lives... Do you hear the terrace sing, Singing and chanting on our feet? It is the music of a fanbase/terrace/the yside Who will not accept defeat.
  19. Legal, yes. Hot, I would argue yes? Single, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed However, there's always the girls on the teams we play against? No set age, but most of us are early 20s. Cheers man, I'll call you if we need a fill-in some time.
  20. Hey guys, just wondering if anyone would be interested in playing mixed indoor football for the next few months. It's 6-a-side, 3 girls and 3 guys with one of the guys as keeper. I have a team established that's been playing for the last 2-3 years, but a couple of our guys are injured/playing outdoor instead so we have a couple of gaps we need to fill. We play at Oakleigh Indoor Sports, right next to Huntingdale Station on the Pakenham/Cranbourne line. New season starts next Sunday 3rd March (yes first game clashes with Wellington away Seriously considering a forfeit since mhfcBozza plays on the team too) and then we play every Sunday evening (usually sometime between 4-7pm) for about 10-12 weeks before a short finals series. 15 minute halves, 1 minute halftime, sub when you like. Our team is decent, we've consistently finished 2nd or 3rd on the ladder every season we've played and always make the finals, although we've never managed to progress past the semis yet. Perhaps one of you could help us make the step up? I need to get back to the venue organiser in the next day or two to confirm whether or not we can field a full team so if you're interested, please let me know!
  21. From the same article that Biancorosso7 quoted:
  22. Thought this was a pretty cool terrace display to celebrate Köln's (Cologne, Germany) 65th birthday this week. Can't imagine us ever being this organised or this big, but it's something to dream of. Source: Lukas Podolski twitter account @Podolski10

Song is called 'Do you hear the people sing' FWIW. Not sure about the lyrics you suggested, the last line is a little weak in my opinion. Could be improved and turn into a really strong chant though. Definitely a strong, inspiring tune behind it, it is after all a rallying cry in Les Mis.
