  1. Not saying i'm celebrating mediocrity. I'd just rather see a long term plan seen through to full completion. Of course you have to adjust things as you learn from your mistakes. I'd much rather support a club that has a long term plan in place for success then come out all guns blazing like GCU claiming we will win the league in our first season etc etc etc. The main area that has not been good enough is player recruitment and this will need to improve in the future. As i've said before in a league of such fine margins you need to get the recruitment side of things spot on. It's the signing of players like Williams and Maycon over an experienced CB that have made the difference between us being mid-table and higher up. If things like this are so obvious to the fans I would like to think it is quite clear now to the football department. We have the core of what can be a league winning team in place atm. We need to cut off the dead weight in the new year and bring in some more proven performers. This for me will see us release Worm, Maycon and probably Terra. This gives us three international spots (of which don't have to be filled by internationals). Of which we should be replacing them with a striker, another creative midfielder and an experienced CB. For me another striker is of the least importance of the three. If we continue to play the same system then 6-7 goals a season is about all we can expect from the cf as he will be often isolated and required to hold up the ball to bring the wingers into the game. And as Eli grows more into the role he will probably be better than a lot of players we will get in. Another creative mid to cover when Fred is injured and give us another route to goal is a must and obviously an experienced CB is the most important. I'd like to see us go for Thwaite as a centre back personally. Surely he would want out of GCU.
  2. Great win. Blackpool have been our bitches this season. 4-0 and 4-1. We've had three red cards in the last three games though. Kind of annoying. Saw a stat that we have picked up 7 points from our last three games where we have played 180+ of those minutes with 10 men. I hope Marek Stech gets the spot in goal before Ruud Boffin.
  3. I think it all comes down to playing successful football. When we were winning everything seemed rosey at the club. We had everyone fit and in form. Injuries and Olyroos commitments severely weakened our starting XI. I don't think any club in the league would have coped with having as many starters out of the team at once like we had. Especially in such key attacking positions. Mate and Fred being the obvious examples. As i had said since well before the start of the season signing an experienced CB should have been paramount. Which was proven with Madaschi's run in the team coinciding with our best run of results as a club. The a-league is a league of such fine margins where slight improvement in one or two areas is the difference between being top or being bottom. I still believe in the course we are on atm. Youth focus being the key. As if we can consistantly produce players of a higher caliber then the others around us who will then take up key positions in the squad we will be in a better position than most. We are too young as a club to see the fruits of these labours atm. I think it's more of a matter of tweaking certain things and becoming smarter about the transfers we do make and identifying the positions we need strengthening that will help the club move forward. Still baffles me why we bought in so many attacking players and neglected to sign any defensive options. Still quietly optimistic about the remainder of this season. Squad is back to full strength and one good run into the finals like we had earlier in the season could see us really shake things up. I think a lot of it could depend on Colosimo remaining fit tbh.
  4. Export is probably the worst beer on earth. Although that being said extremely sessionable once you make it passed the first can. It's so watery that one can usually quite easily turns into ten. Export is better than Emu Bitter though. Now that shit is truly heinous. Gives me the shits how a lot of pubs are aligned to either Lion or Fosters. My bar sells it's tap space to both so we get a decent variety at least. Back on the cider topic. I can highly reccomend these if you can find them and A heinous rendition of the chant may have come out at The Deen's industry night last night. It did get us kicked out. I blame the security guard who had a glory pin on his shirt though.
  5. This is probably the most legit thread on the internet I have ever seen.
  6. Yeah is predominantly old fellas for the Perth Hammers as well. Great blokes though. With plenty of tales of the old East End and stories filled with thinly veiled racism. Makes for a good night out. The brisbane and sydney hammers seem to be the most active. With Perth and Melbourne's groups now meeting more regularly now though can only be a good thing.
  7. This seasons trip to aami ended up being a non-starter as uni payments smashed me in the face. However have some funds saved again so should we see a home final I may be able to pull an overnight trip. However, I think a heart v glory final in perth is looking just as likely at the moment. Then the Perth Hearts can demonstrate this chant in full swing. Our words were adapted to: Drink up thee wahoo (terrible west australian beer that seems to have been adopted as the beer of choice on game days) Drink up thee wahoo For tonight we'll merry be merry be We'll all go down the (perth) oval and do the glory over for theres always more wahoo in the brass (brass monkey hotel is our pre game pub) x 2 repeat
  8. Perth Hammers have there meets at my pub. They hadn't had meets for a few seasons after Floreat Athena stopped showing games. Emailed the guy who runs the club and the next week we got about 70 people to the West Ham v Millwall game. Pretty decent turn out. 3 points a must on Tuesday.
  9. Strongbow stretches the definition of cider but it fits at least. The game i saw at aami park i was reduced to drinking xxxx gold i think.
  10. Easily manipulated chant. Doubt anyone else is doing it in the league. Of course at australian grounds has to be converted to drink up your midstrength cat's piss lagers but still.
  11. In all fairness my preference of European leagues to watch has always been from an entertainment viewpoint Bundesliga, La Liga, Eredivisie, Serie A, EPL. Serie A at the top end is some of the best football to watch but the rest of the league holds little interest to me.English football at european level is about to come into darker days for sure. Still think the two Spanish clubs are by far the strongest in the world atm.

    Food

Lord King Chilli Chicken is a highly honoured god with in the Perth Hearts community. Chicken Kebab meat, chips, cheese and three kinds of chilli sauce in a chips box from a kebab shop in the centre of perth that plays rave music outside all day. $8's worth of pure ecstasy. Besides this poffertjes and these are the best things on earth: Almond fingers and tea bitches.
  13. Thomson at CB? No thank you. We need his talents further up the field. Especially when we have both Hammill and Good fit. Either of them having a run next to Colisimo will be a good thing. The only times Good and Hamill have been found out is when paired together due to lack of an experienced cb. I think Good has shaded Hamill on points over all this year. Depending on Thomson's fitness though we have to drop Thomson to the bench and promote Shroj to starter and drop Hamill from the bench.
  14. Milk stouts are decent. They use lactose to sweeten the beer because the yeast wont ferment it. I wouldn't reccomend drinking any other stouts with milk though.
  15. Will be massive to get three points in this one. Finally have key members coming back into the squad. Bolton Marrone Good Colisimo Goodwin Germano Fred Thompson Mate Babalj terra Bench: Behich, Hamill, Walker/Williams, Mattei Has Goodwin played on the left wing at all in NYL? Surely he could be considered for the left wing spot in the run in to the finals when Behich returns to left back? Or is it more likely that Behich may be considered for left wing and Goodwin to retain his place at left back?
  16. Sounds good. Plan for the 3rd derby this year fell through due to various reasons. Still hold hopes of a home final. Although atm a Glory v Heart final in Perth is looking a possibility. Beer of the week for me has been Robinson's Old Tom Real Ale and the Robinson's Old Tom Ginger Real Ale. Hearty brews and the ginger variation is a winner in the current weather.
  17. Definitely should go about getting guys from S.America. Also wonder if the club has considered signing youngsters from here. http://www.aspire.qa/. Supposedly they are recruiting talented kids from all over the 3rd world in hope of turning them into Qatari internationals in time for their hosting of the world cup. They recently beat Manchester United in the milk cup 7-0, one of the bigger international youth tournaments. Is a sad state of affairs that a country must go down this route to field a competitive team. However, if these kids have that much talent the Qatari's may be keen to get their better prospects out playing club football as they reach 20-22.
  18. Never a good idea to mix Beer with red and white wine in one sitting mate.
  19. Ebay has recently consumed me. Old N64 gear has been flowing in through the door at an alarming rate.
  20. Yeah I think i'm going to go for the incredible S. Is what I was leaning towards. Would go for storage over battery life tbh. Going to attempt to just re sign up to a new contract and get the newest Galaxy or an Iphone on it though. If not HTC Incredi S it will be. Cheers lads.
  21. Need more ska appreciation in here. Prince Buster- One Step Beyond. Original and the best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQg_t8NYfvo
  22. Johnny Cash - Cocaine Blues. Favourite artist of all time. Absolute king. On an unrelated note fuck yeah Atmosphere. Trying to Find The Balance is a tune.
  23. After the passing of my beloved Samsung Galaxy im placed in the situation of having to choose a replacement phone through my insurance. Been given the option of either the HTC incredible S, HTC Rhyme or Blackberry models 9860 or 9780. Any one in the know about this kind of thing? Im leaning towards the HTC's. The blackberrys look like shit and dont want a stupid keyboard on the bottom of my phone. Help is appreciated. Probably like the Incredible S the most. But is based purely on aesthetics. Anyone better with tech specs and can explain in lay mans terms to me the advantages of each phone. Cheers
