We always do. We rarely look creative. Too much focus on physical training and too little on playing with freedom and flair. Particularly under Joyce.

To be honest i watched the first 15 mins and was so bored i turned it of and went and watched a movie which had more action than this game . Boy was i surprised to find out that we had won totally amazed.

  2. I can honestly say that both myself and Mrs Johnno were foundation members right from day one. Now unfortunately we are no longer members as we saw the writing on the wall back in December and were bored watching aimless football with no entertainment value, as my wife explained it "Like watching paint dry" so we are no longer members and that will remain so until the playing style improves.

He's certainly stagnated. Whether that's because of Joyce or not is a moot point. Showed very little yesterday against Perth - put clean through and didn't even get a shot away. A goal then would have put us 3-0 up.

Wales is another one. Given every chance  but the final touch just isn't there.

Both of them have become "head down and run like shit but it all comes to nothing" players.

All of which we had before with Kamau .

  4. Watched the game yesterday on fox, they showed Maclaren and i sat wondering what was going through his mind. Hopefully he was optimistic unlike many of us, but i could not help thinking that he looked like someone who had made a terrible mistake . I hope things work out for both Maclaren and the club but as others have written i don't think we will make better than fourth and get dumped out of the finals.

I just don't think that's true. Joyce certainly rated him back in June when the signing was announced.

"Head Coach Warren Joyce said:  “Michael brings a wealth of experience from a number of clubs, including one of the biggest in Europe. He’s a very exciting player to watch - he has pace to burn and is capable of creating and scoring goals. He will bring excitement to the pitch. I still remember watching him at Bolton Wanderers where he played in the same youth team as Aaron Mooy.”

Michael O’Halloran said. “I’m coming with high hopes to play my part in a team that I feel are really going places, I’m here to improve the team, and to play my part to try and win the league, which is our first and foremost aim, and also to win the Asian Champions League.” “Aaron Mooy is one of my closest friends in football, he told me it was brilliant — a great club, great place, great people and a great opportunity for me.”

But really, it doesn't matter now. MO'H isn't the first, and won't be the last of good visa players who, for whatever reason, wasn't a success in the A-League. As long as the club is learning from all this (???) then we move on.

The big question for me is "Are the club learning anything from this" as this has happened before and we still make the same mistake . There is an old saying that" Those who do not learn from their mistakes will continue to make the same mistakes"

  6. I have been a foundation member for the life of City, but i can tell you now that if this club moved to anywhere in the Eastern Suburbs i would not be coming to any home games as it takes me at least an hour and a half to get to AAMI park. How long do you estimate it would take to get from Epping to Dandenong i can hazard a guess - at least 2 hours there and 2 hours back.

To watch the crap football being served up at the moment you would have to be joking.

City Gold is far too expensive if you have to pay the full adult price. Without checking I think two seasons ago MrsJW and I had to pay $650 each to sit behind the City bench, only a couple of rows from the back so we received just a little shelter if it rained. I had always watched football from the wing, right from when I started as a lad. The main issue for us was not the cost, but that nearly every time it rained we would get wet and have to move anyway. So we took the plunge and moved to City Blue high up behind the goal. I think that's actually excellent value, and costs us less than half what we were paying.

My main issues with match day are:
    - the banal half-time "entertainment,"which hasn't changed in 9 seasons.
    - the poor PA system, meaning that I rarely can understand a word being said over it. For example, I personally like the annual indigenous ceremony that we have with Aunty Joy Murphy and the chap who plays the didgeridoo - to me it has far more significance than some polly getting up in Canberra and saying an amorphous "sorry," because the ceremony that we have is a connection between living people, not the past. Kudos to the club for it, but I would like to hear what Aunty Joy says and I could not hear a word last Sunday.
    - I hate the way our team is announced and our screaming "announcer."
    - Apart from telling us when the next home match is, the pre-match and half-time material shown on the big screen tells me nothing about what is happening in  or at the club - an opportunity missed for a connection between the club and its supporters.
    - OK I'm getting on and I'm old-fashioned, but the music annoys the shit out of me.

And if you are like me hard of hearing, it gets even worse , i have hearing aids which do not help when that guy gives an announcement along with the background noise. I too have become bored of the half time so called entertainment same old same old . if you put all these together with the cost of food and drinks it's a real turn off along with the pain of watching our team in various games . Entertainment NON EXISTANT.

The other interpretation is that these senior players did not actually sign on to the new broom that Joyce was brought in to be. Remember, our Chairman Mubarak in his annual "State of CFG Interview" in 2017 made it quite clear that the Group was not happy with Melbourne City in season 2016/17. That's why we have a manager such as Joyce is.

Also, may I say that I worked in several workplaces where there was plenty of deadwood sitting in corner offices with pleasant views over the city skyline, drinking plenty of coffee whilst using the phone and photocopier for its personal use, and it certainly was not the new boss' who was the problem when that deadwood was given the chop.

None of this means I think that Joyce or the club has necessarily done the right thing, but we do need to be open to alternative explanations.

But alternative explanations have not been forthcoming from the club or anyone for that matter so i can understand the frustration of myself and others .

So whats the point of the worldwide City scouting network? Replacing our greatest ever player with an Aussie striker we will know about and not utilising a marquee spot properly. I like McLaren decent striker but the Heart could of recruited him as a marquee? Surely theres a Bobo type around that this scouting network knows about?

That's as may be but you have take into account Wazza .
