Depending on the characters in the group, the constant pressure to perform and compete for spots in the starting line up will either inspire better performances or demoralise individuals. Unfortunately, as Sydney demonstrated last year, success was based on consistency of team dynamics. I feel what is needed is not fundamentally a focus on individual performance, but team dynamics and consistency. In this lay our potential. Our squad is actually really good (injuries aside), but to be competitive we need a good team, not just good players. I fear Wazza will not get the team dynamics right, and our team will be forever changing week to week. I think it will undo the conditions for the possibility of success for the season. But, as I said, I want to be proved wrong. And, at the moment, it is all pure speculation. I think we are all still riding the lows of last season post FFA, but hoping those wrongs are righted, despite evidence to the contrary pre season.

We are gonna get a flogging... at least we can enjoy a home game rd1! I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

What a time to be alive

On point about the slow transitions... seems whenever we grab an opportunity for a counter we head out wide, stuff around and give the opposition time to get back in formation. Not only cant I remember the last score from a corner, I cannot remember one from a counter attack either. But maybe I just have a short memory. We spent so much energy focussing on possession that we were too afraid of losing out in the hope of taking a risk and being creative with the ball. We just tried to walk it in every time. Heres hoping for a better season. I am sure a few rounds in we will have a better idea of how competitive City will be this season.

Famous for being a hassle and making space in the box. But predictable if it is all we rely on. Feel like Jacobsen, Malik, Barts etc. Height should come in to play too. Carrusca will be good if he can stay injury free. I wonder how buzinski is from corners/set pieces.

We were spoilt AF by Mooy. But still, every set piece/corner feels wasted. Brattan from a corner was hopeless. I swear Kisnorbo headed more in in total in 15/16 than we managed as a team in 16/17 season. If our attack is going to be depleted going forward with Fornaroli out, surely we ought to be trying to make good on our corner deliveries and free kicks.

When was the last time we scored from a corner? Honestly I cannot remember at all. Anyone shed any light?

Anyone know where the post match Interview is by Joyce? I cannot find it. Interested in seeing whether the excuses are manufactured or the frustration is palpable.

Cmon City... gotta love it, except when you dont or want to but just cannot face it. I have seen the highs and lows of this forum from the lurking vantage point. The longevity of the sack the JVS thread; Frankston brandan; countless and on point analysis of successes and failures; the digs of not being a true member if you are not carrying PTSD from early campaigns... Been some places, had some feels, seen some shit. Now I am glad to be contributing.

Very true.. time will tell how he is used I suppose. Seems a waste on the face of it. I work in Primary schools and was chatting with a bloke who runs the soccer clinic in schools. Didnt push the convo any further besides also him seeming to think Jan is realistic for Brandans return. But that seemed pure speculation, Mauk and Bouzanis seemed set in stone. At least how things are travelling currently at City HQ

Yeah City really made some appauling decisions re. Sorenson. We hope they would have learnt from their mistakes. Unfortunatly, the greatest mistake they seem to make is being able to learn from their mistakes in the first place. I love the club... but it has systemic failure on multiple levels. Cue the optimism - Wazza can and hopefully is given the freedom to turn things around. Rule with an Iron Fist. Get the most out of the boys - hell may even get the best out of Bouzanis and this convo will be history. But we cant neglect the fact that change wont happen over night, and it is probably going to take a while for it to capitalise even if it is working well.

Mate I dont disagree... been a member for 2 years, every home game for 3 seasons... I felt the frustration of Sorensons season last year and the pathetic choices City made in regards to the defence and goalkeeper position. I dont know why City has made this choice, but Galekovic has played what 45 minutes in a few games... Dean has been first choice each time. As it stands currently, Dean is 1st choice going in to the season 17/18. Gday!

Long time lurker, first time poster. Can confirm Mauk is injured and Bouzanis is 1st preferred keeper. Got the news today from a close source to the group. Did not substantiate on Mauk injury, but beyond the FFA goal injury. Bouzanis looking forward to having an improved defence.
