  1. Inspiring good performance by most of the players. The most optimistic city fan would never had thought it was going to be that easy. Don't want to get ahead of myself as I believe that wanderers were major contributors to our triumph with their disappointing display. City was good but the wanderers didn't show up. We all know they can do much better.Other teams won't be as generous and I still believe that our defence is very vulnerable. In midfield Brattan was our best. His football is about good distribution and he did it to perfection. His partner Kilkenny did not do much. In fact I haven't seen him do anything impressive since he arrived . There is no doubt that caceres would be a much better option. He's a much better footballer in all aspects of the game than Kilkenny. Btw, is caceres injured? He wasn't even on the bench. Kamau can do a lot better but tactically he was instructed to contribute defensively which he did superbly but on the other hand it reduces his focus and efficiency in attack. Bruno was his usual. Works hard and plays even better. I had my doubts about Tim Cahill for this game but I must admit that he did better than what I expected. He's got a lot of experience which will benefit the whole team. Brandan showed a lot of speed, guts and energy. Overall, a very promising performance. Lets not get carried away. I don't think other teams will be as bad as wsw was on Wednesday night.
  2. "Surely our best lineup" ? You're entitle to an opinion. Here's mine: 4-2-1-3 My line up is based on performances during pre season, ffa cup and hoping that Franjic is ready, Jakobsen is the defender we need and that Colazo is not just an average south American looking for work. .................................Sorensen................................. Franjic (?).........Chapman.............Jakobsen..........Colazo (?) ........................Malik..................Bratten................................ ...................................Caceres.............................................. Fitzy..........................Fornaroli........................Kamau.......
  3. There was room before all the unnecessary recruits. Eg; Rose,Muscat, Brandan
  4. It was bound to happen sooner or later. Our recruitment for this season has been childish. We recruited midfielders ( not better than existing ones) and forwards like there was no tomorrow. All this while failing to recruit to strengthen our obvious to all (except to coaches) weakest point: OUR DEFENCE !!. Oh! I apologise, we did contract two rejects as outside full backs. FFS JVS and assistant !! Can't you see what everyone else does? We are in desperate need of another CB and 2 proper outside full backs. Long season ahead if these idiots don't fix our defence.
  5. Stop recruiting midfielders and attackers ffs!! City needs defenders!! We need good young full backs ( not rose and muscat) and another solid central defender.
  6. Whoever approved that design is a genius. I love Neil and Anthony.
  7. It's amazing how some opinion makers on this forum can't wait to jump on the wagon to begin making negative, unsubstantial comments about some of our best players. So, according to some of the experts on this thread, our poor display yesterday v BS was the fault of the player that got us to the final 16. Imo, the comments about the best ball player ( Caceres) that we have, are based on misleading, personal point of views or simply lack of knowledge. It's only pre season FFS !! Let the players get physical, match fit and then pass judgement. I've watched most of the pre season games and I can confirm to all of those who play it by ear, that young Caceres has been our best. Technically he's above the rest. I believe that at only 23 years of age he's still to peak ( Mooy peaked at 26) and this season he will be one of our main players.
  8. Mooy is a very good player. Nobody can deny it, but yesterday, I can recall just one great ball to Fitzy and about 6 turn overs in the first half only. Second half he was a passenger.
  9. I don't blame JVS for yesterday's loss. He played the same 11 that a week ago were brilliant v the glory. I blame the players for their inconsistency and in particular the so called "main ones" for not showing up on the night.
  10. None of the players performed as to be voted mom. I would say that Caceres and Fitzgerald were probably the less terrible of the whole lot.
  11. I couldn't disagree more with all the comparisons between Mauk and Caceres. First of all, Mauk was not swapped for Caceres. It was for Malik, and that's where I think we ended up second best. YES !! Mauk is a better player than Malik. I still believe that Caceres, overall is better than Stefan. He's been a bit unlucky with how things have developed for him. Did well v the nix on his debut , was playing well when sent off v the wsw and on his return v the tards he also is sent off for two soft yellows. All these factors have made an impact on his match fitness, rhythm and getting used to new team mates and field position. He has only played 4 games ( 1 x 90 mins ) and some people are already smashing the poor kid. Given as much time as we've given other players who were really bad, I've no doubts that he will prove some of you wrong.
  12. No one deserves it. Maybe Mooy followed by Caceres for being the only ones wanting to play on the ground and creating our best chances in the first half.
  13. 4-3-1-2 ? I agree. Mooy is more efficient in creativity when he drops deep.
  14. The sent offs were both undeserved. There were far worst fouls in both games ( T.Stanley on Novillo, Kalfallah on Fitzy) that were probably straight reds. Unless you're a tard, you wouldn't disagree.
  15. They're totally different styles. Caceres is all class. Can pass short or long, hold the ball, dribble. Technically and tactically, far superior to Melling. Melling is more of a work horse and is better than Caceres at breaking play. In my team I would play them both. V the nux : 4-3-3 Caceres.........Malik............Melling (mids) ..................... Mooy...................... ( AM ) Fitzy.........................Tuna ( roatating front)
  16. Sad about Roux but he's young and will recover quick. In regards to the 90 mins of football, Imo, we were always in control. Our finishing wasn't sharp and the ref robbed us of a clear penalty. Otherwise, we would have gone to the break by 3 or 4 goals advantage. Yes, I agree that our second half was much better. Our intensity increased as did our passing. Malik and Fitzy were the worst in the passing department but overall they performed well. Mooy who imo was absent in the first half, lifted and it was just a matter of time for the goals to come City's way. Nothing to get carried away about this win as ccm looked like a park football team. We needed to win this game, and we did win it in a very convincingly manner. I believe in the depth of this team. There are so many quality options. With Caceres returning next week and hopefully Novillo the following, the future looks promising. Mom : Second half's A.Mooy, followed by Malik and Fitzy.
  17. Would Zullo be his replacement v the ccm ?
  18. Agree totally with your comments. The issue in this case isn't Caceres. He's not a dirty player by any means. played 69 games for the mariners and was never sent off. The problem are the poor level of referees in Australia. They're shocking. There isn't a game in the HAL where a ref goes unnoticed. Imo, they don't have the football "savy", culture, smart.
  19. Was at the game and just finished watching it on TV. My opinion on the game is similar to most. I do have some different views on certain issues. Unlike some, I was satisfied with the overall team's performance v the tards. Both teams had their moments. After watching it a second time, the first 10 mins tards had more of the ball but did not worry Sorensen at all. In those initial 10 mins, our first opportunity came from a foul on Caceres just outside the box and it was totally wasted by Mooy's execution. During that period the incompetent referee carded 3 of our players : Franjic for a studs up tackle on Kalfalla, Garuccio on Barbarousses ( soft ) and the softest to Caceres for a 50/50 challenge with Broxham who milked it and the useless Chris Beath bought it. Inexplicably a free kick was given in Caceres's favour . Soft cards that inhibits a player from playing with piece of mind. From the 10 -20 min , MC looked better but it was during that period and against the run of play that the tards had their first clear chance and the bad finishing by finkler kept it nil all. The when the game shifted their way and against the run of play, "El Tuna's" brilliance gave us the advantage. Great "rabona" pass to Caceres who ran onto three of their defenders, did well to pause, passed to Mooy who brilliantly assisted el tuna who finished off his own creation like only the chosen ones can. Superb !! They equalise when MC looked better but our future golden boot put us in front again with a superb header. After that, MC controlled the remaining of the half. The tards came out strong for the second half and found an early equaliser with the help of Sorensen. Our keeper should have punched the ball away but he missed it, the ball hit finkler on the shoulder and went into goals. Lucky Tards. The inconsistency by Beath, was never more obvious than when Kalfallah intentionally runs straight into Fitzy. He made no attempt to get the ball. He just hit the MC player with his knee but the fucking useless Beath gives the tard speech therapy only. A red card wouldn't have been inadequate. Then the moment that killed our chances of taking the three pts . From approximately the 60th to Caceres's 2nd yellow ( 78th minute) , MC were having a great period of possession. Ball players like Caceres, Mooy, Bruno with the movement of Fitzy and Novillo in the front third giving the tards a very hard task. Looking good and the most likely to score, the useless Beath again gives an undesened, softest yellow of the game to Caceres who didn't even touch the tard when going for the tackle. I can't believe how some opinion makers on this forum, even contemplate thinking that Caceres was at fault. After that, it was obvious that MC were going to sit back and hold till the end for at least one point. Great spirit shown by the whole team. MOM: Bruno followed by Mooy ( mostly for his work rate) and Caceres who imo had a very good game. Chris Beath : A great match completely stuffed by poor refereeing (and linesmanship). A referee who was over zealous with 3 yellows in 11 minutes causing poor decisions throughout the game and players not being allowed to play to their potential! Victory, among other teams ,must start to be penalised for their constant diving to seek free kicks. Loose points for the behaviour of their fans and make referees accountable for their decisions by relegating them to club matches after such a performance as yesterday! I listened to both coach's after game press conference and I was proud and pleased by what Van 't Schip had to say and disappointed at the one eyed "our club never does any thing wrong and we always get robbed" attitude of Kevin Muscat. His team is the worst at milking free kicks and penalties for nothing see Beresha's latest efforts!
  20. How? In a couple of signings we have improved the squad. Fitzy is better than Williams. Caceres in general, is a class above Mauk in all aspects of the game. He will end up being as good or better than Mooy if played in a more attacking role. Velaphi or Bouzanis (mmm...). Haven't seen Bouzanis yet. Paartalu = Malik ( both average and easily replaceable). Don't understand the comparison as Partalu is mid and Malik a cb.
  21. Must change formation and fix the defence. My line up v the ffa jreks : 4-3-3 .....................................Sorensen................................... Franjic............Malik...............Hughes................Klisby ..................Melling.....................Eric............................. ..................................Mooy............................................. Novillo....................Tuna............................Zullo
  22. Fox commentators aren't right. Caceres played all his youth football as an AM. Available information shows that he was introduced to the defensive role by GA. When Moss took over he played in both positions and TW definitely used him as an AM. I really think that if JVS changes formation to a 4-4-3 or 4-4-2, these will allow both Mooy and Caceres to be the playmakers. We'll be in for a treat of high quality football while "el tuna" and "le Novillo" will get tired of scoring goals. Caceres as a 10 @ Mariners:https://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dfw-ZXUWFhfA&h=rAQHaw3DI
