I don't quite see that as relevant. So we swap one designated player for another...? Is that prohibited by the rules surrounding designated players?
I don't think we can just swap like that in a season but i could be wrong, although next season we have the second designated player spot coming in which gives more room, I feel Metcalfe would not be playing as much if he was set to leave, we saw this with Atkinson.

Would have to be some sort of swap. My guess would be we will ultimately end up with Pucci out and Japanese AM in.
Pucciarelli is not in the cap he is our designated player for this season
-
I could see us maybe putting Jenkinson in defensive midfielder and then play O'Neill in that 8 role and then berenguer at the more advanced 8, then have pucciarelli as a false 9
-
Surely Pucci has to start against Western? We have no Maclaren, Leckie, Tilio and Metcalfe and in terms of senior midfielders we have O'Neill, Flo, Gomulka, Lesiotis and Pucci, Surely a O'Neill, Berenguer, Pucciarelli midfield?

Nope, recently moved to a Belgian club.
What a signing he would have been though, if it did happen I feel major salary cap questions would be asked

Can’t see it being Maeda only loaned to Celtic this transfer window
And why would you forgo playing at Celtic to come to melbourne
Exactly this, Also Curtis Good has not been playing due to taking a while to recover from Covid

If the club is sticking with the tradition of signing free agents then I reckon its Yuki Kobayashi
https://www.transfermarkt.com/yuki-kobayashi/profil/spieler/145996
Most notable club being Heerenveen in the Netherlands

Everyone to transfermarkt to find Japanese free agents
Hopefully it is no one of that list, cause none of them look great tbh, hopefully either a loan or we have paid a transfer fee

We've still got Nabbout, and Cola can do more than a good job. And we've then got a couple of youngsters waiting behind them. Options in midfield too, especially with defenders coming back to free up O'Neill. We'll miss Tilio. And Metcalf...
Tilio was not great at all this game, Metcalfe will be missed though. Preferred line up would be :
Glover
Jenkinson, Nuno Reis, Griffiths, Jamo
O'Neill, Berenguer, Pucciarelli?
Nabbout, Cola, Bos
If Good was fit then I would say play Griffiths in defensive midfield, O'Neill in the 8 role Berenguer in the advanced 8 role and then Pucciarelli as a false 9

This is going to be an interesting line up.
I am guessing Bos, Hall, Jenkinson, Galloway? or maybe Galloway, Hall, Stokes, Jenkinson?

The way I look at it Galloway is now backup for Jamo and Jenkinson as we have no LB cover and Galloway has played their before.
Jordan Bos is Jamo's understudy

Looks like we've signed a replacement for Atkinson, seems to be traditional fullback but is a visa player.
Atkinson gave us a more attacking and creative impulse something we still really need. I cannot see a traditional RB solving this especially with Galloway being the least of our concerns at the moment.
Should have used the cap space for another AM, RW player - Luna type and just gotten a local back up for Galloway for depth? I feel our midlfield is not making the difference in this season.
We have the champions league coming up as well and we need to adhere to the 3+1 rule. We already have Berenguer, Pucci and Nuno and now Jenskinson - so one of these players is not going to play ACL, I'm puzzled so the speak!
The rule in the ACl now is you can register as many visa players as you want but only 3+1 will be on the pitch, realistically we would have Pucci, Nuno and Jenkinson on the pitch. I cant see us signing another first team player purely due to cap space

Lot of the time on the bench, also a long period out through injury. Interesting that he's on loan, meaning we have to pay him what he was getting at Forest.
There is a good chance it will be a wage split, I reckon he will play at right back tbh but then can be used as a defensive midfielder or centre back if we are really slim on numbers in those particular areas

I reckon that's true.
I was watching PK closely that FFA night against Wellington a couple of weeks ago. He was particularly vocal towards Pucca, continually barking at him to drop deeper, go forward, run to the ball, run away from the ball....
I reckon he expects him to press and run his head off for the full 90. Now that's ok, especially if you're dealing with someone younger and fitter, but not sure that's what Pucca expected when he came down. The bloke looked lost and was gassed after only 10 minutes of running around like a headless chook.
IMO, I just don't think he fits the profile of the player PK expects and i wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't last much longer down here. Hope not, would've been good to see what he is capable of.
I reckon he was due in for a start against adelaide or mariners but I assume he had covid and thats why he did not play, hopefully we see him soon because he could be class

I really hope Good is back by the next game, whenever that is

You are far too serious for this particular thread...
Am I not meant to speculate about transfers I want the club to make in the "Transfer Talk, Rumours and Speculation" thread? Am I missing something here? 😂

Nice, time for some unsubstantiated claims of inside knowledge and pontificating on how much each player earns. Not to mention that signing a paticular player from some paticular ethnicity will drive increased support. And who can forget the never ending discussion about what paticular position needs bolstering.
If we bring in anybody I'd be surprised.
I reckon we bring in a right back tbh, we still have a +1 spot for the ACL and the full back positions need depth with the way we play

AFC Champions League draw will be on the 17th of January at 5pm AEST for all interested... which I hope is everyone 😂

The A-league transfer window officially opened today so hopefully we see some new signings to freshen up the squad fairly soon!

I've lost track of this. Where are we and who do we have to play?
We are in the east region group stage, the draw for the group stage will be on the 17th of January on YouTube, not sure what time though exactly.

Some interesting changes to the ACL 2022, won't concern us unless we make the final.

Postponed. It's so hard to get any momentum for performance improvement with these disruptions. Very disappointing.
it is going to be harder depending on how many of our players get chosen for socceroos duty

So you think Metcalfe will stay, is that what you mean? he is obviously rated by PK and city so maybe a contract extension announcement for him soon.
that is what I am hoping for because I would assume city would want to accept an offer this month so they can get a transfer fee, would not be surprised if we do a 2-3 year deal for him but with the intention to play him for 1-2 years and then sell him on

Scottish born Aussie raised Manchester City youngster, Alexander Robertson has just been recalled by his parent club from Ross County in Scotland, Should Melbourne City look at trying to bring him in on a loan? He is only 18 and he plays as a midfielder.
Saturday vs Western, 29 Jan, 7.45KO

I think "PK Out" is still a bit early tbh, obviously we are no where near where we need to be rn, but where we are at the middle-end of the season is when judgement should be cast, obviously this game we had no LMN, Tilio and Metcalfe and the mariners performance showed that we are decent side still, we just have to hope we got on a similar undefeated streak as last season.
