  1. Agreed! To be left with a guy who proved in 75% of a season last year he wasn't up to it, while NYC get 3 top top top notch players is absolutely offensive, and a slap in the face. I would love to see him gone. Will be interesting to see how this plays out if he is played in midfield and isn't performing. Will JVS have the gumption to bench an underperforming Koren? And how would that look for CFG- their Marquee on the bench? If Melling is on the bench and Koren starts to play similarly to last year there'll be uproar in the stands!
  2. Hahah Cech! Are you serious!!!??? Absolutely delusional. I reckon Shay Given is a fair shout due to Duff connection.
  3. I have an inkling Babalj will sign for Sydney FC- no source, just my take on a few things I've read.
  4. Guessing game -1. redmayne, 2.Hoffman, 3. Koren, 4. Williams, 5. Brown. Kennedy on the bench.
  5. Good to see- adding young Aussie talent in an area of the pitch where we need freshening up. Great potential this lad. Let's hope he can take another step forward in his development with us and become a real threat in the A-League.
  6. The fact that a few people have Williams in their best ever XI, says so much about how shit this club has been until now. He could/should also be in our worst XI.
  7. Yeah but his dad is the king of Melbourne!
  8. I'd take Eli back for sure...could JVS give him the kick up the arse he needs to realise his potential though?
  9. I would wager that Given is pretty tight with one D.Duff.. Both Irish lads who' ve played in the national team together for years, plus played together at Blackburn and Newcastle.. He always has been and still is a quality keeper, and a good pro too.
  10. Hmm- well I suppose we're all entitled to our opinions. I for one hope we're still able to give our opinions on his performances for us next year. A (quality) bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.
  11. I don't get how people don't rate this guy. He scored 3 in 8 games if I'm right ( with a few of those off the bench) and came to us lacking match sharpness. In the 2 finals games he was our best player, and is constantly threatening the opposition fullbacks, and testing the keeper. He can be a bit tempestuous sure, but if we sign him and he is fit all season, many people here will be eating their (pessimistic) words.
  12. No way Novillo should be placed in the 'development' basket- he is past that stage already. He is here ( and keen to stay), he is young and he is effing good. I'd pay him up to 250-300K if he wanted it. He will be brilliant next year. I wouldn't take Safuwan. Just not quite the level of quality we should be aiming for in our Visa players IMO.
  13. I reckon 1 of Davidson/Franjic would be good, but as above- both would take up too much space under the cap, and that free space needs to be used to strengthen elsewhere. I think Franjic is a very realistic option, and a good one at that. Hopefully we can get him in for as cheap as possible!
  14. They're mid table in League One- there's no way he should end up at that level. I think for him to move he'd be after first team football in a decent league in Europe (Dutch, Belgium, Germany, or English Championship). If he went I Barnsley I'd cry, but also be pretty peeved at him for a bad career move
  15. @WBAFCofficial: All at @WBAFCofficial wish @mulumbuofficial, Chris Baird and @jasondavidson29 all the best for the future following their release Not sure if they'd come here but Mulumbu is quality as Davidson would be a good signing as well. I assume both will stay in Europe though.
  16. Was in Sydney on Friday and saw Hoffers and Redders near Central Station.. They had some big bags with them, and we're heading towards the city. Hopefully they're on their way to sign a contract with CCM, the Jets or WSW...is there a club dumb enough to sign both of them? (Aside from the Heart)
  17. I think the signing of Melling this season proved that giving young players with potential a chance, who are on less $$ than someone like MM is a good idea. Could we sign someone of MM's current ability, with the potential to improve for less than what we are offering him now? IMO, absolutely we could. I suppose he has value due to his experience and good attitude, but not for more than about 70-80K.
  18. Hey Fiji- that link doesn't work. Is it saying something about Burns leaving Wellington?
  19. Yep- would be brilliant in this league if we could get him/keep him interested in playing good football and scoring goals
  20. All the talk pre- Kennedy was about Bresciano coming back to play for us. Wonder if that's still on the cards? And if so, would/should we be interested? I think under the cap and on 150K ish I'd take him- especially if we lose Mooy
  21. Great if true- any idea the $$?
  22. Sheesh- one of Gamiero/ Maclaren would be brilliant. Both would be amaaaazing!!
  23. Haha- nah that's his Dad
  24. There should never be any debate over David Williams ability. He is shit. No matter who coaches him.
  25. Out of those players ( and those that may be interested in a move to Melb City) I would be looking at: Darren Bent (ST), Yousuff Mulumbu (CM), Figueroa (LB/CB), Jonas Gutierrez ( midfield/winger), and maybe Drogba & SWP despite their age.
