Here's a realistic assessment of our squad based on recent history. 1. Eugene was really good- perhaps past it 2. IF - was good- perhaps past it. Jako- great! 1000 years old. Tongyik- can pass and dribble! Can't defend. Scott- solid. Killer- good, solid. Bratty boy- potentially fantastic. Also potentially slow, lazy, ponderous Attacking Mid- who knows Kamau- potentially tops. Also just as likely to lose the ball 9/10 times he gets it. Bruno- lord.

I'm perplexed as to how people think we're looking good on paper for this season... Eugene and Jamieson are solid players and good pickups yeah, but we need so much more quality to match SFC/Victory.

Warren Joyce. As predicted by Serb Hair Dresser.. Goneski

Pearce seems a good option... Pardew a big no. A terrible coach/manager and a right royal piece of shit of a person. -
Should've got a haircut ages ago. He was great tonight.
-
Examine my head coz I voted for Killer. He was great again. Such a leader for us- tries his arse off every game, and such quality in the middle of the park.
-
Fox sports gave Brattan 3 points for the Alex Tobin Medal... wtf Kilkenny and Fitzgerald for me. Tough to split them
-
Tore Geria a new one first game. If he doesn't start tomorrow Valkanis might have to get disappeared
-
There genuinely isn't one. If he doesn't start next week, there should be an independent inquiry
-
This this this.. what the fucking fuck could MV be thinking with him not starting?

3-5-2 with Cahill and Bruno up front together, Brandan/Caceres at #10, Colazo and Franjic as wing backs. Or 3-4-2-1 with Cahill and Brandon/Caceres in behind Bruno. Would make us better defensively having 3 CB's (who don't attack), utilises the strengths of Franjic/Colazo crossing to Cahill and should give Bruno more opportunities to get the ball to feet though the number 10 (s).

This has been happening all year, and it must be a tactical thing. At The Roar, Brattan would get the ball in the middle of the pitch from the back 4, and find passes into forwards, attacking midfielders/wingers all day long. Now, he gets stuck out on the right trying to thread low % balls through for Franjic/Kamau. We did this with Mooy a lot last year ( but he would drift left)- the difference being that Mooy was able to turn out of those corridors when hemmed in, and would then look to play Bruno's feet. Brattan's not as good on the turn/half turn as Mooy and thus gets stuck in corridors... which is why we should just play him centrally with Kilkenny. 2 of the best DM's in the league and both playing half out of position for god knows what reason!!

Mauk almost never played for us...
-
Bonavacia used to play as a CB before he came out to Wellington. Perhaps that's where we would play him? He would fit that weird CB/CDM role that Malik and Kilkenny have been playing a bit.

Fuck we have to win and give Aloisi shit all game. Great stuff from JVS. How's Michael Lynch- honestly the football journo's in Australia are a pile of junk.
-
Malik was fantastic last night- best game he has played for us for mine. Both he and Chapman looking so much better next the Jakobsen. Long may it continue!
-
No Wilkinson! Can only be good for us
-
Jeez you woke up in a good mood today!

I'm taking 5 extras. #sellout

Thought Franjic was really strong on the right- he's beginning t get back to his best. Caceres grew into the game and played well- still want a bit more drive/incisiveness from in the the final 3rd. Bruno was brilliant as always- his strength and first touch is out of this world.

The old sarcasm detector didn't even blink?
-
No Colazo? You're 'aving a laff
-
Thought Franjic made a real difference for us. He's like the right-footed Josh Rose. Bruno obviously a hero too.

Round 6: Melbourne v Newcastle Jets....AAMI Park Thursday @ 7.50pm
tommac replied to n i k o's topic in Melbourne City
A top 6 side would've beaten us tonight. First half we looked decent- we FINALLY tried to get some early crosses into Cahill and Bruno and it paid off. Franjic made a difference down the right. Still don't understand JVS tactics- it's 1-1.5 at the back at times (Jakobsen +.5) which is just stupid. I think a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-1-1 come 4-4-2 is the trick for us. If we want our best players playing that would mean Colazo at LB, Malik/Chapman at CB and Kilkenny and Brattan as regular DM/CM's. Perhaps not ideal to have Colazo at LB, but the way we're playing this odd 3 at the back ( with the 3 still pushing forward) is nonsense and has to change.
