mjake1234
It has been suggested that there are: People who don't go to Melbourne Heart matches but would be interested in attending if they could be part of a group; Melbourne Heart members who would like to join with other local supporters at matches; Members who would like to expand their Melbourne Heart experience with more social events. There are already groups out there that cater for these however most are not well advertised and there are also many more groups that could be started. These “groups” could be simply be one person offering to have people join them at matches or something more substantial and involve social events etc. Additional benefits are that they would help to develop the local community and also increase exposure for Melbourne Heart. To provide a central reference point for these groups and to also stimulate the formation of new “groups” we have put together a spreadsheet of the Melbourne Heart supporter groups that we know of (which, as of 13th March 2014, is not a huge number). This can be found at this location If you know of any other groups, have amendments/improvements/corrections to the spreadsheet OR would like to be a local contact person please email us at heartinmelbourne@gmail.com. Here is hoping we get lots of groups, contacts and local enthusiasm going and prove that - There is only one team in Melbourne.

M13
Do these supporters groups function similar to our U.K ones?..i.e there will be meetings in a specific pub/bar now and then with players/notables from the club attending and in general "socialising" while having perhaps a wee drink. As in the first post "These “groups” could be simply be one person offering to have people join them at matches or something more substantial and involve social events etc." So the groups can be anything they want to be so long as their main function is to help connect and attract Melbourne Heart supporters. I would hope that Melbourne Heart and the players would be happy to join in as and when asked. And an occassional "wee" drink would be most welcome.
