January 2014 Transfer Window

Pleased to know Bresciano is training with the club. Would love to see him play for us at some point.

Another review of the transfer window:

Melbourne Heart

In: None

Out: Golgol Mebrahtu, Dylan MacAllister

Two peripheral figures in Mebrahtu and MacAllister have moved on, leaving Heart some room in the salary cap for what is sure to be a busy off-season under new owners Manchester City. Given those plans are yet to be decided, it would have been premature and potentially counter-productive to bring in players on short-term deals simply to make up the numbers, during what is something of a dead-rubber second half of the campaign. It's all about the lead-up to 2014-15 for the team in red and white and their long-suffering supporters.

Verdict: Nothing to see here

Other clubs 'failed' and got 'wait and see' reviews here.

It's quite remarkable how many A-League clubs now make use of the January transfer window (even though NO A-League clubs pay transfer fees for players), and by comparison it's hard to say something positive about Heart this transfer window, losing 2 players whilst signing none and being dead last (although it's understandable, given the change of ownership and focus on next season).

I hope Man City make smart use of the January transfer windows in the future, as it seems most A-League clubs do now. Maybe we'll even get some rising stars from the Manchester City EDS halfway through the season. I'm certain though that we'll no longer see players like Marcel Meeuwis and Jamie Coyne arrive mid-season.
