Well, here we go.

Indeed.
My impression is that it is easier for a teenager to start in the Premier League than in the A League. Now as to why that would be I’ve no idea, but it seems to be a difficult environment for younger players to get a chance.
It may have to do with the wage cap, there is a minimum spend?
CCM are the benchmark obviously, they had a rough period, but they keep churning out the yoof and they sold players nearly equal to us last year.

Indeed, it is that kind of season. But this is where the club has to dig deep and needs to have the Academy with players ready to step up. If you follow the EPL you'll see how Liverpool (and I'm no fan!) have just had to do that, and the teenagers stood up and did the club proud.
Maybe we do but there is a reluctance to play them?
Politidis looks good when he comes on, Caputo can't get a sniff even with Macca off form, Hall is 25 and should be released, but he just hasn't had any time at all in the last 4 years and then there's yoof we let go who are carving it up for other teams.

Tilio has done his hamstring during training, will be out for at least 4 weeks and will miss the Olyroos.
Lecks will be back starting.

He has our team set up terribly. Way too much space between our midfield and forwards, especially when we lose the ball up front. Once we've lost the ball up forward the opponent easily plays to the next line, normally centrally.
When we went to a back 3 last night (which I'm convinced was an idea from the assistant coach), with Arslan dropping deeper, and the extra man then in the midfield we actually controlled the game and attacked with meaning, and really on any other night would have at least scored one
The same old setup, with players not good to enough to execute effectively means we are so predictable it's not funny.
It was obvious after bout 15 minutes last night that we'd lose, via some cheap goals ... and yep, that happened. I feel for JMac. His slump can be blamed on the team as he gets next to zero service, and his confidence is absolutely shot. It's happening with all our forwards.
No doubt in my mind, a better coach would have us winning more than we're losing.
Trust me. The team is strong enough, it's our style of play and management that's killing us.
Time to fuck off Vidmar. Go back to Adelaide and take your recruitment mate with ya. Club needs some fresh blood. Complacency has crept in. Other clubs are showing us how to do it and are going past us. This shouldn't happen
Agree, also having our wide players on the opposite side the ball is being played are inside the halfway line, maybe due to the space. There's barely a press, we look static.
I doubt Vidmar will be let go, same as Petrillo. Vidmar hasn't earned the right to continue though and Petrillo got this seasons recruiting all wrong, but he usually get's it so we are at least competitive, should he be let go?

everyone saying "Time to go" hahahah
Nothing changes this season whoever comes in might as well just keep him and play the likes of Caputo, Lopane, Politidis
Lopane is growing on me, I just think he is being utilised wrong and it's not helping him and can be frustrating to watch at times.
-
Sydney is starting to hit their straps, they looked impressive last night and were enjoyable to watch.
I'm starting to feel sorry for that bloke that put money on us getting in the 6, it may not happen. We have a run of home games which we need to win, but our form is on par with the Jets atm.

I think every supporter hates when the manager keeps playing a player out of form, but if Macca rumours are true, why keep playing him?

Which exemplifies what I am saying, we were chucking ice in bins for ice baths as Heart, we didn't overperform at all.
Chivas he did better as they are one of the better teams in the MX League.
Twente he probably underperformed.
Maybe it's adaptability, if you have lots of resources you can bring in players to suit what you want, but if not you have to be more adaptable with what you have, which suits a salary capped league as well imho.

How many of the 144 games did JVS coach under heart?
All but one season iirc.
If you look at his history on transfermarkt, he has been pretty poor until Greece and now Ajax. It seems he can do ok if he has access to top players for the level, but won't get poor teams playing above themselves.
I think that's the kind of coach we need, like Montgomery for CCM, Italiano for Nix. I don't care if they are from the EPL, NPL or the Fiji tbh. If a coach can show they can get a small or middling team to punch above their weight, they have to have something about them.

I am not sure how you can say that. Does the club publish figures on backroom expenditure?
In any case, all clubs in all sports are confronted with the same issue: how do you find the best coach for the team? How do you build a quality backroom that is able to remain fresh? If you look at Spurs over the last five years they spent big on managers but no silverware. Managerial brand names came and went. Opposite to that, is how did Wellington find Italiano? CCM found Mark Jackson?
True, there's probably a diamond in the NPL who hasn't got his chance yet.

I never understood about this club how we invest all this money into the squad and then spend the least amount of money possible on the coach.
In a salary cap league it makes the most impact to spend the most on the backroom imho, also developing players to sell on, more to spend on the marque.
That we didn't have a GK coach for a while is pretty poor.

Why isn't Jamo having that effect now?
He's only new at the coaching gig, he probably doesn't have much of a say or done all his badges, he's the apprentice at the moment.

Thought he did well, Lolley is as good as any winger in the league and he kept him relatively under control for most of the night
Yeah, he looks neat on the ball, but he looks pretty good defensively as well, he looks a great find and hopefully will sign for next season.

What makes you think there is nobody else available?
People calling for PK have completely forgotten or are ignoring under what circumstances the succes was achieved. Besides there is some concerning proof on the table now about his capabilities. No PK would do better this squad.
Agree, I'm also not a fan of returning managers, it never works out for whatever reason.

Jmac in the worst form of his career, yet keeps starting...even Tilio could have had an easy through ball to Jamie but instead took the harder option and went for goal himself. I don't think Jamie even joined in that goal celebration, something definitely is going on with him and the team...
If rumours are true he wants out probably, just going through the motions.

Lopane is frustrating poor at times, I know he’s young but he’s had ample chances to show something and he hasn’t.
He got a shot on target, one more than Macca.

Tilio showing us what we have missed.
Chili was good.
A draw away to Sydney is a good outcome, better than expected tbh.

Wow that positioning when they paused for the kick forward.

We seem to be under instructions to sit deep, not press at all, and leave the wide spaces for Sydney players to do what they want with no pressure at all
I'm seeing it pretty similar as well, Tilio is pressing and Leckie usually ends up following, otherwise nada.
We certainly seem to want to compress the midfield.

Amazing header from Caputo, I didn't even think he would get to it.
