I thought that our passing had improved compared to last season and last season there was a lot more back passing than in yesterday's game. Definitely there were butchered chances and wrong options taken. In the second half fear of taking a shot reminded me of Aloisi's reign. But the defense held its nerve, AU never had a clear shot and McGree's goal was from a crowded field.

You are right in that Maclaren is the only goal threat that the team has. This is Mombaert's task to ensure that there are other options. As for AU, they need to improve but watching some of the other games I would argue that City are definitely top 4 material.

Naijarine definitely needs to improve if he wants a professional career. As I said earlier, too good for the NPL but not good enough for the A-League. Wales has speed and...

BUT neither Cabrera nor Luna have shown anything that inspired confidence - not even flair.

Lets treat his potential - an Arzani is rare. He is a hard worker and dropped at half time. If he has the right attitude then in the coming seasons he could be great for us. Its also been a long off season for everyone, let alone the young guys.

Said it before and I'll say it again, I fucking love Patrick Kisnorbo

    Moisture drips from this post.

Yeah although an overall lacklustre affair, there was still an atmosphere of hostility. I suspect we will see further tension come Christmas Derby.

What happened after the game? Kurz cracked it for some reason because I think Mombaerts didn't acknowledge him in time or something like that.

Then the gk coach got involved and there's was alot of chatter between kurz and Kisnorbo too. I'm sad that Patty didn't just belt him actually.

Pretty sure it was a spat between Kisnorbo and Kurz and Mombaerts was oblivious. Think Paddy was fired up after the biff between Delbo and Toiv

    Have at it.

    1) Ladder Order

    2) Champion

    3) Golden Boot Winner

    4) First coach sacked

    5) Bold Prediction

    6) Sum up City's season and finishing position

    Fark Me Lads

    1. City, Perth, WSW, Syd, Vic, Ade, New, W United, Bris, Well, CCM (optimism)

    2. Vuc from nowhere (fuck finals)

    3. Draw - Le Fondre and our very own JMac

    4. No sackings

    5. Tara R announced as Mayor of Adelaide.

    6. City back attracting moderate crowds and playing entertaining football with a few frustraing brain fades but enough goals for a decent season. However, we lose finals football as always.

    Not sure when this occurred.

For many decades FIFA have mandated that players must be available to represent their countries if selected in competitive matches and if not they will be suspended.

Actually it would happen in every league.

Friendlies are a different matter though, so during the glory days of Oceania, European clubs would say players were “injured” and not release them.

I recall Chipperfield and Viduka both being suspended in this manner (though I suspect the match was a friendly, perhaps vs Venezuela, so the rule may have been changed at that time).

i have a completely different view. I’m an Australian who happens to support Melbourne City. I’d reconsider my support for the club if they didn’t release players to play for Australia.

Reality is we want our players tested at the heighest possible level AND we have the depth to cover deficiencies in areas if need be.

Najaar is worth the start. Luna has not played striker in any pre season game. I doubt we will see it this week. Noone will stay on the wing where he is most dangerous.

    Polished, professional performance.

Thought JMac was best on at HT before he scored so definite MOTM performance for mine. He looks very, very sharp imo.

Metcalfe was fantastic, as was Berenguer, particularly in the second half. He still makes glaring errors which obviously etch into the mind a bit deeper, but he's definitely got something the others don't have. If we can coax it out of him and get his confidence up where it needs to be i think he can be a player for us.
Thought Noone had a bit of a stinker, which is probably a good sign that shows we're not too reliant on him.
Ramy has done his dash for the first few games for mine, especially given how well Cabrera played when he came on. Definitely his best performance in the City blue so far and that 3rd goal was very well taken.

The French Revolution appears to be in full swing, and so far so good. Hopefully we can take that into Round 1.

Plenty of positives to take out of it imo.

    Viva Revolution.

Boys were stoked lastnight... Uruaguyans struggled with the insects. Heres hoping for an AAMI Park final - doubtful. Plus the airfaires to Adelaide look shit - no early returns Thu.

Any messages you want us to pass on to your next of kin?

Dont look in the box under the bed.

    Cheers 👍

Also - great game after the first 5 minutes. Found some other city fans which was great. Good atmosphere besides the flies. They had good support which was great too.

Florin worked hard. Cabrera did well in his cameo. Time for Narjarine to have a spell. Noone struggled on the turf and had a few knocks and looked frustrated at times - still all class. All in all we made the final which I am stoked about. We have been asking for progress and we cannot fault tonights effort all things considered.

I could be abusive @Tony999 but I'll restrain myself. I'm disappointed by your remark. And I'm no nutter, leftie or greenie, but rather someone from industry who worked in the environmental management field for quite a few years.

I think that the whole world knows by now that pollution by plastic is a major global problem. I was disappointed to see the (unnecessary) plastic fan in this season’s membership kit, and also the use of plastic film bags, the latter not currently recyclable.

The problem with global issues is that people tend to look for someone else to find a global solution, and that very rarely happens. There is no magic bullet, no single, simple solution. Solutions and leadership have to come from individuals and individual organizations before they will gain momentum and spread.

Thunberg is speaking for her generation, and those to follow, who wish for a habitable planet to live on. If you have expect future generations of your family to follow you, you'd do well to listen to what she says. Take your mockery elsewhere.

    ......So Happy Together!

    In all seriousness - Props.

He’s pretty consistent with his starting eleven the last couple of games, perhaps tactically making some changes.

Its all well and good... but Adelaide set up well. It was a 50/50 game and our midfield was pretty loose at times. Noons cheeky play was delightful but oppositions will just flood around him to stop his play as they did with Fornaroli. Flo was useless again - a wasted spot. His passing rate is acceptable but how often it leads to goal will be rarer than an uncooked steak.
