  2. In the Fox sports article, it says Olić is open to a longer deal. Sign him as a guest, pay him a ridiculous amount of money then fit him under the cap for next season. Regular comments about him say he plays like a 25 year old
  3. Michael Essien on radar of Sydney FC ahead of transfer window, George Samaras attracts Mariners Tom SmithiesThe Daily TelegraphDecember 29, 2015 8:00PM Michael Essien during his time with Chelsea in the Premier League. Source: News Limited A-LEAGUE clubs are keeping their powder dry ahead of the transfer window opening next Tuesday, despite being offered the chance to pursue talks with a number of high-profile players as potential guest signings. It’s understood that Sydney FC have signalled that they are not interested in signing former Chelsea midfielder Michael Essien on a guest stint, while no clubs so far have made a play for former Croatia striker Ivica Olić, despite his management indicating his interest in coming to the A-League. Former Greece striker George Samaras is believed to have interested the Mariners but dependent on third-party funding, and so far none has been secured, while the name of former Brazilian star Ronaldinho continues to be circulated. But so far clubs have refused to bite, wary of disrupting dressing rooms mid-season despite the A-League’s desperate need for added starpower. In Essien’s case, he remains contracted to Greek club Panathinaikos and has just re-entered the first team after a lengthy period of injury. But agents are believed to have been given a mandate to examine various options in Asia including Australia, in case Panathinaikos decide to release him in the January transfer window. A major stumbling block would be his salary expectations for a move to Australia, with an annual figure of €3m net understood to have been quoted. However Sydney, one of the clubs with the resources to fund a guest player — particularly on a short-term guest stint — are understood to be cool on the option, though a deal for next season could prove more attractive. Samaras is unattached and carries an Australian passport, but last played in March, for Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, and has been offered to A-League clubs before. Greece's Georgios Samaras has generated interest from the Central Coast Mariners.Source: News Limited The Mariners discussed him as an option to bolster their freefalling gates, but he has sought $700,000 for a half-year deal — and the Mariners are almost certain to play no role in the finals. Olic, a veteran of a century of caps for Croatia and an alumni of Bayern Munich and Diano Zagreb, was told days before Christmas by his Bundesliga club Hamburg that he is free to leave if he can find a new club. His salary demands are thought to be far more realistic and his representatives say he is open to a longer-term stint than just a guest contract. Meanwhile the Mariners are believed to be weighing up a slightly more prosaic signing, with former Melbourne Victory midfielder Francesco Stella understood to be on the club’s radar. The 24-year-old, who spent a year with the youth team of Chievo Verona in Italy and a short stint at Rangers in Scotland before signing for Victory in the 2013-14 season, has been at Avondale FC in the Victorian Premier League since June. http://m.foxsports.com.au/football/a-league/michael-essien-on-radar-of-sydney-fc-ahead-of-transfer-window-george-samaras-attracts-mariners/story-e6frf4gl-1227692010985 Would take Olić at RW. Has a cracking left foot, at 36 though I'm not sure about his injury history
  4. Exactly this. Its not directly the player's fault (Unless they refuse to play), but the club's. Sorenson, Kisnorbo and Engelaar are arguably the best players we've had over 34 years old out of how many others? The club needs to open their eyes and realize that they are wasting their time signing players over 30, just look at Fornorli and Novillo for examples.
  5. Hughes unused sub (since we needed to score), that means he has still played less then 90 minutes for us. Now that is a wasted Visa spot
  6. I don't want to see Bambi's face after this game, otherwise I'll have to buy a new TV
  7. Sydney Fc. Aka FFA FC. Aka Dive FC
  8. Some interesting types of Kits here (If NBA Teams had football kits) Thoughts on the New Orleans kit. But with the team colours and no symbols on the cross ? -Deleted Image-
  9. Watching Wanderers play well annoys me . We arguably have the best team on paper but have a spud coach.
  10. No need to change the team from the Derby, I'd assume they are in no rush to get Zullo back as the back four have improved over the last couple games. If we are leading this game by the 75th minute I'd like to see Hughes brought on for an attacking player to sure up our defence again like in the Derby. Would give me more confidence in us achieving the win

    Stefan Mauk

If we got rid of Williams in January, then we would probably be able to use the space in the cap to sign a player like Wilkinson
  12. I think we should have a go at Yeboah if he wants to get more game time
  13. This Main example being Partaluu last night laying off the Victory player allowing him to cross it into Berisha. Furthermore. Why do our players still not know to play the whistle? We won that game but there is still much more to improve. We can't rely on Sorenson to do that every game
  14. For what it's worth we still haven't won against a team above us
  15. Now to clean up my underwear. Sorensen man of the mmatch
  16. Hughes not even starting, waste of a Visa spot. Looks like Clisby is starting CB.. Been playing well at LB but he's been terrible at CB, too weak and short
  17. With games confirmed for both Sydney teams against Arsenal in 2017 already, I don't see us playing any European teams other then Manchester City in the near future.

    Aaron Mooy

    Delicious -Deleted Image-
  19. I don't think there has ever been a Derby where we have been as clear favourites
  20. That Jamal for glory looks the goods
  21. The article is rubbish, but there's a difference of signing Victory's rejects and their star players. Think of how we would feel if they signed Brown compared to if they signed Mooy from us
