Sydney have won the 2023 cup and will play in the 2024 AFC Cup.
Will no longer be the AFC Cup!
Will be rebranded to the "Asian Champions League 2" (yes that is its real name)

The thing I would look forward to with having are own stadium is the club could set up a proper club shop, set up a trophy/history room and do stadium tours, all add to the experience

But he arrived pretty much on the day of announcement or do I have this wrong?
Work visa don’t get processed in 10 days.
And get a unfit player as a replacement when you are in the middle of an ACL whilst having your most influencial player out with injury?
In my opinion if Leo is indeed an injury replacement than it’s just bad short term business.
Believe he was announced on the 15th but arrived on the 18th/19th
I think it is short term loss for long term gain, Natel in theory should be ready for Round 1 with Leckie coming back hopefully Round 3 then the squad will look a lot more full

Fair point. Still don't understand why Galloway isn't starting at RB.
It was nice to see he got minutes has come back from injury so maybe not ready to start yet?, he has been super consistent for us so definitely deserves to start over Talbot & Reis at RB

Players who are welcome to hand in their resignation: Reis, Souprayen, Sahki, Jakolis.
Don't really agree with this.
Reis has been good in pre season when playing at CB, Despite the penalty I thought Souprayen had a good game, Both Sakhi and Jakolis had a good 1st half but I noticed they ran out of steam around the 60 mark and Rado probably should have made some changes

I am pretty sure Nabbout got injured about 10 days before Natel was announced

And clearly obsessed with playing Reis, cost us the GF last season.
Seems like he has a favourite

Be nice to know what we are doing about the match too...little things like the squad, Matt Leckie's injury progress, where they're training, climate (it is of course early Autumn there)... Zhejiang is the name of the Province, and they play in the city of Hangzhou (used to be known as Hangchow) where there is the beautiful West Lake, a population of over 10m, and their stadium holds 51,000.... Tim Cahill played for the club before he signed with us. Little things.
They never usually reveal the squads for ACL, I guess they want to keep the element of surprise alive and well. Judging by some players Instagram's they only arrived a few hours ago.

Will be interesting to see how strong Zhejiang play as they will have to rotate with this game being in-between 2 league games for them and they only have 3 games left with a chance to secure "Asian Champions League Elite" football still. Against Buriram they played a strong forward line but rotated the defence & midfield which shows why they lost 4-1, so will be interesting to see how they line up against us.

Hopefully wherever PK goes next he learns what he did wrong at Troyes and adapt to make himself a better coach, I think people forget that this is still a young coach who will get things wrong

To add to this I find it a mistake by Rado to appoint a player who operates in the shadows as captain. We also know what a nice guy he is and that’s also how he plays. At the moment the Rado dullness and niceness just radiates through the team and the captain appointment just doesn’t help.
Call me old fashioned but captains lead by exampe, fire up a team and front the battle - he’s not that type of player.
I think Maclaren is more of a show by example captain, Has incredible work rates for the full 90 despite not always being involved in play, although I have seen Macca a few times shouting at players if they aren't up to scratch.

Good point. IMO we need a CF who will drift right or left - probably left - and JMac does not do this. (No criticism of him BTW.) If the CF drifts left then if a defender does not go with him then there is overload on the left, and if the defender does go left then there's space on the right. I'm not suggesting that we're anywhere near an EPL side but Arsenal do this - Jesus will pull the defence to the left leaving Saka plenty of space on the right. Liverpool do it, leaving space for Salah on the right. We're not creating space in front of goal.
Jakolis has played as a CF before, feel like he could do that role well

I feel like I can see PK coming back if Rado doesn't work out but personally would love Des Buckingham back

The other thing which to me seems to have gone out the door is the inverted full back or Jamo coming in to be virtually a DM. I'm not seeing this in the games I've watched, it looks like that Talbot and Behich are playing as normal FBs and if one of these is replaced with a CB we're playing like 3 at the back And I wrong?
When Talbot was playing LB the first couple games in preseason he inverted next to Ugarkovic and we had a back 3 of Good, Nuno & Hall at RB, now that Behich is here instead of having one of the fullbacks invert its now just Ugarkovic, don't know why Rado doesn't have Arslan go next to Ugarkovic more often as Ugarkovic literally has no one to pass forward to.

My guess is that Scott is on a contract and has decided to stick it out. My puzzle is why hasn't he played? It's hard not to think that this is some spat between Scott and Rado
Didn't someone say he was trying to leave after Behich signed?

Time for a cultural exchange. We get PK back and ship them Rado.
Would not be shocked if this actually happens tbh

Zhejiang lost 4-1 to Buriram United on the first matchday, We have the better squad on paper but with the teams form + away games in Asia are always tough, will be a tricky game.
-
Poor performance again yesterday, the best performance we had was against Wellington and we only really looked good for a 15 minute period imo.
I can't see Rado still being coach when we get to January tbh. Possession football with a lack of energy or movement, no one looks enthused to play under him.

Starting to get the feeling CFG only care about Manchester city
hard to agree with that tbh, some of the signings we have made over the last few years have shown CFG want to invest in us

Felt like I was watching a training drill at times, just passing the ball around with no intention to go forward.
I know this is a new group and a bit of patience is probably needed but was hoping to see a bit quicker ball movement then we did.
the best performance so far was against Wellington, need to get back to that level. Hopefully this is just pre season inconsistency and not what we will be seeing for the upcoming season

I imagine the 3 Visa players we use in this one is Arslan, Sakhi and Reis. Natel not ready and Soupy misses out.
Young - Talbot Reis Good Behich - Ugarkovic Sakhi Arslan - Lopane Maclaren Jakolis is my guess at the 11
the 3 visa rule is not a thing anymore
its 5+1 now not 3+1
