Tilio front third only when we are chasing the game, midfield for him is failed experiment.

Perhaps it’s a blessing in the sky that Gomulka is suspended, on paper our strongest midfield could be O’Neill, VDV and O’Neill - so hopefully that works well.

    Yes please.

I'm seeing double here, four O'Neills

  2. Agree on Glover. Could be a big redemption arc this season, especially given he's out of contract at the end of the season.

The thing I really noticed was how strong our front press was. Last season it'd be JMac isolated like 90% of the time but last night we regularly had 4-5 players closing down the Western half backs.

Idk if it's sustainable but I loved it. PK deserves credit because our game style really did look different.

  3. That was the best season opener performance I can remember from us, I expected us to be good but honestly not that good.

Western were lucky not to lose that by 3-4 goals in the end. New signings look terrific and the core squad look as hungry as I've seen them. Great cause for optimism, only real concern is the injury front but I'm comfortable with the depth of our squad for now.

    Lol.

They released the squad yesterday, and have already had three players withdraw and one player come in who wasn't named in the squad?

This league is terrible at giving supporters information.

    Also Tilio bench behind Bos?

Bos will probably play LB as Jamo will probably have to fill in centrally alongside Lam.

Look I get it that we haven't been great in pre season and that the end of last season was disappointing but I'm genuinely optimistic we will improve this season.

Looking at WU specifically it wasn't that long ago that we had never lost to them. They got in a couple great A League level players, a Keeper a CB and a striker and they become the best in the League.

The club and the football department are not idiots, although some on here would disagree but for me we have strengthened this year and therefore will be better. And playing off in the granny and winning the League last season we effectively don't need huge improvement to become the best again.

Yes we've got issues, GK, Visa players injured (or worse not good) and a coach that seems one dimensional but if you dig into the other 11 teams IMO we are great space.

Obviously the first game will be a good indication of where we are at.

This is lacking too much hysteria for mine, please delete.

This guy comes off as such a winner. I know we all hate Besart here but there's no denying he had that hard-edged winning mentality that we as a club lacked in the past for so many years.

Valon seems to have the same edge with an even better CV, so consider me excited as fuck for this signing. Just fingers and toes crossed he stays injury-free.

  7. I'd still argue that we need a new GK after Glover's wild inconsistencies last season but evidently, it seems like we'll persist with him (which is fair enough given his age, skill ceiling and contract status).

Outside of that the squad looks strong, though I'm definitely in favour of signing a luxury bums-on-seats playmaker as VDV is way too much of an unknown for now.

Agree that Kisnorbo is the club's biggest problem atm and it's such a shame the same old predictable gameplan, weird non-communication and the micromanaging from the sidelines all still exists.
