  1. He's not at the club and you still give it to him.

    Build a bridge guys

Mate, we get it. He's a Maltese hero but you don't have to defend him. He's a dud and it's only natural in sport for people to hang shit on those that can't cut it for their team.

Tristan Barker the most famous alumni of my school

The only person who is a bigger fuckwit that this guy is his father who thinks the shit he does is perfectly sane...

Couldn't be further from the truth.

Lol why? Cos he was in Split Enz? You have to admit the footage of him more than condoning his sons behaviour does lend itself to pretty firmly framing his a fair dickhead?

  3. Ok this discussion is spiralling way off topic.

The concern regarding the use of the 1847 number has been noted and Im sure will be considered by those heading up the new group.

Wider discussions of a racial and ethnic nature have nothing to do with it.

Get back on topic or bans will be handed out promptly.

When the fuck does BoardWalk start again? Hurry up FFS.

There's a show starting on the new BBC First channel called 'Peaky Blinders' - similar vibe to BWE but set in Birmingham in 1920, based on a true story.

    Oh sounds interesting. Torrent-able?

One thing I realized from tonight is that we really do not have that many chants.

If you have any suggestions, make sure you post them up!

    Perfect I'll post 1 up in a sec!!! :D

I'm guessing this will occur between 2am and 4am in the morning? Will they be tailored to our group so that no other group can use them?

i wish I could between 2am-4am but im just watching the world cup so no can do, plus its only 1 chant so didnt take me long.....

    :)

Never understood the hup holland hup chant. I would be fucking spewing if every socceroos game the fans were chanting lets go sydney, lets go

    calm down bro

Genuinely wondering though, do most Dutch people not care?

I was talking to a group of Chinese people about the world cup and I mentioned The Netherlands and they had no idea what I was talking about. "Ohhh, you mean Holland?" they said. you have to remember that Holland is part of The Netherlands ( most well know for Amsterdam, and it reclamed polders)

people from the Netherlands ( who aren't from Holland,) do get upset by the reference of Holland

The Netherlands has twelve provinces: Noord-Holland, Zuid-Holland, Zeeland, Noord-Brabant, Utrecht, Flevoland, Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, Gelderland and Limburg.

thats why the Dutch team had Nederlands on its warm up strip not Holland Good explanation but where the hell did "Dutch" come from then?

Tough one to answer, a long a varied history with many twists and turns

a very simplistic (and not too well received by my Dutch friends) is that the words Dutch and Deutsch  are not too dissimilar.

Germanic tribes settled in the lowlands , eons ago, then like most of Europe, various waves of invaders and settlers passed through

    Essentially correct.

The entry on 'Dutch' in my History of Middle Europe Dictrionary from Undergrad European History.

In the 15th and 16th c. ‘Dutch’ was used in England in the general sense in which we now use ‘German’, and in this sense it included the language and people of the Netherlands as part of the ‘Low Dutch’ or Low German domain. After the United Provinces became an independent state, using the ‘Nederduytsch’ or Low German of Holland as the national language, the term ‘Dutch’ was gradually restricted in England to the Netherlanders, as being the particular division of the ‘Dutch’ or Germans with whom the English came in contact in the 17th c.; while in Holland itself duitsch, and in Germany deutsch, are, in their ordinary use, restricted to the language and dialects of Germany and of adjacent regions, exclusive of the Netherlands and Friesland; though in a wider sense ‘deutsch’ includes these also, and may even be used as widely as ‘Germanic’ or ‘Teutonic’. Thus the English use of Dutch has diverged from the German and Netherlandish use since 1600.
