  1. Both teams had their chances in a very tight game. A point from this game is a valuable point, particularly when it's sydney in the chasing pack and not us.

In terms of their goal, if the linesman has initially given it then i'm happy for it to stand. Footage was inconclusive, and would have gone our way if the goal wasn't given initially.

What pisses me off is that they have a lack of cameras and they do pregame video capture across the field so they can get the camera lines right for offside. Why the fuck is this not done for the the goal line?

I got the info off the aleague website but your post made me check again and on google fixtures and it looks as though we also have games against ccm, jets and Perth as well. The fixture is all over the place. Granted we have more games than I let on in my post.

This is the game. Win this and the belief that we go on with it will permeate through absolutely everyone.

FWIW i did think the Mariners game was a bit of a glass ceiling too but this one will leave no doubts imo.

There's still 10 games left so I wouldn't be counting my chickens / reading too much into it if we win and go top. Way too many things can change, go wrong, etc.

That said, I'm quietly confident if we keep the squad (particularly the front 3) fit.

But are we forced to let them go? We are their main employer, I can imagine perhaps bonuses can be at stake come finals time.

Now it's up to two administrative organisations to decide between them - APL and FA. I don't think that we can be forced to release players, but I can't see anyone standing in the way of players representing their countries. It wouldn't be a good look for the club. It's not just the matches of course - there are the prior training camps to consider as well.

    Messy situation.

Tough spot for all. I imagine FIFA will class June as an international window, so we will be forced to let them go.

What hasn't helped are all those games delayed at the start of the season due to covid lockdowns and travel restrictions

What may play in our benefit is that most of Europe will have finished their respective seasons and the Socceroos sit top by two points with a game spare (Kuwait and Jordan are due to play each other too). Maybe Arnold will look to blood a few up and comers. Probably being far too optimistic

  4. what's really shit with the ACL coming up is that we have the WC qualifiers due at the start of June.  doesnt give any time to finish off the A League regular season plus finals without losing JMac, Nabbout, etc. puts us in a pickle either way (we lose our Socceroos for the WC games or face a really drawn out end to the season).

  5. TTIM: people who send (instigate) online messages after winning a computing game (ie FIFA21) to gloat / offend their opponent despite acting like a cheap prick towards the end of the game (ie predominately knocking the ball around the backline to waste time).

    Complete lack of class

I don't understand the whole furore. I thought that a private organisation could choose what it wanted to do or not to do provided that it acted within the law.

If Facebook chooses not to give information published by the Australian Government a free ride, or doesn't wish to pay for it, then so be it.

Throughout the pandemic I've accessed all my information via the ABC. I'm in Group 1b for vaccination, but so far have not received a single government (State or Commonwealth) communication advising me of when, where and how I can access that vaccination.

    The hypocrisy is galling.

TTDIM: grabbing the popcorn and watching all these whinging povo arsehats sulk when (a) you can still find plenty of free sources of news, and (b) the povo bastards probably wouldn't chip in for a digital copy of the herald sun / the age / etc (let alone by a fucking hard print newspaper).

Who needs fake reality TV with this shit? Plus it's a distraction from how we play 😒

So after 6 games it time to pull the rip cord? Genuine question.

I'm generally in the 10 to 12 game number before I definitively decide wether a bloke is up to it. But having said that being a first time senior coach changes the equation.

For me the jury is still out, PK has shown signs of potential. Playing youngsters, chasing games for wins rather than playing out for draws. Dragging visas and not selecting visas. These are all signs of potential, but his downfall has also been exactly what I've just mentioned. But my greatest concern has been his lack of adaptation, he seems so far to change things around via personal as opposed to system or shape. I understand he has been working on what he sees as the best system but not mixing it up especially when it's obviously failing is a huge alarm bell for me.

My question is at what point (games and points) is it clear for a change.

Remember Aloisi 39 matches 8 wins 7draws 24 losses and a terrible run of 17 games without a win for reference.

IMO you have to give a coach half a season, surely - especially in this disjointed season? I just don't think we've got the cattle to win the league anyway, so I'm prepared to give PK until the half-way mark. He's not responsible for assembling the squad, and I know others differ but I don't think it's good enough in the visa/marquee department(s).

IIRC, Aloisi's 17 game stretch was over two different seasons; 5 games at the end of the 2012-13 season and 12 into the following season (by which time it was close to the CFG take over).  he probably would have gone earlier if the club wasn't being sold - so yes Jovan you are probably right with half a season.  PK will probably get the full season since he is club developed (for which I have always questioned the value for sacking a first season / young coach mid season when you can't get relegated).

PK hasn't had a couple things go his way (including an injury at the start of the season to a big name player - unlucky anyone 🤔🤔) but hasn't managed a team with depth as well as he could have either.  he's also responsible for how we set up for set pieces - it is something you can lay out plainly on the training paddock.

i also remember a story with Alex Ferguson where Man United's disciplinary record was turning to shite so he gave a few of the players a bollocking (including Cantona i think) to pull them into line.  discipline starts at the top.

Gonna be hilarious to see who is shitter come derby day against Tards 🤣🤣

As shite as some of our results have been, we've been in most games (only the Glory game was bad and even then we had our chances)

They on the other hand have been a complete rabble, and got lucky when they won (funnily enough against the Glory)

Of course, the Heart of old would find a way to lose the derby so.....

Western United have started very poorly vs. the Tards.

Be interesting to see if Rudan has a way to get more out of this side.

didnt see the first 20 min so cant comment

but by God the tards got lucky.  two marginal VAR offsides (yes, i know they were technically offside by the smallest margins but FFS - where is the benefit of the doubt going the attackers way???), Diamanti belted the cross bar twice, i dont think the tards could have been more lucky other than some bullshit own goal by Western United against the run of play.  then again, KIrdar (i think) forced a good save from Kurto at the death so .....................

i do wonder on how long it will take the tards board to turn on Brebner.  shit appointment in the first place, serves them right

    Guess who spoke too soon...

Meh, a loss for Perth is a loss for Garcia so there is a silver lining

Plus given how shit Glory's defending has been, I think you'd have to say Victory got a little lucky.

Fine with me. Means he gets another income stream which makes it harder for an overseas club to poach him.

I'm actually super supportive of the game finding Chris Judd Visy outside the cap like sponsorship deals for our (bigger) players to keep them here.

what i don't get is how the fuck he wound up doing these types of gigs.  I cant see them paying much.

it feels like Fox are being super bare bones with their commentary because they cant be fucked spending money on our game.
