  1. Hearing that Joey could be on his way to heart. At this stage, no reliable sauce but keep eyes peeled.
  2. Just heard this on SEN. Anyone got a list of Aussies over there we might be targeting?
  3. Don't understand why we signed Gray. Absolute waste of a visa spot. Get him out ASAP
  4. We urgently need someone to replace Aziz and someone who can play in the midfield - potentially for Thompson and/or Fred while he's injured and force Fred to lift if he wants his spot back. That would be ideal really.
  5. It's okay, apparently Hoffman got his 5th yellow against WSW!
  6. I guess questions need to be asked of who approved this signing. Wasted money and resources when we could have used that money to sign someone who could be developed/ready made and play.
  7. Has apparently tore his calf will be announced tomorrow. Source: “@davutovic: Vince Grella has retired from football - tore his calf on Sat. Official announcement tomorrow @MelbourneHeart @Socceroos” EDIT: confirmed by club. “@MelbourneHeart: NEWS | Melbourne Heart FC confirms Vince Grella will retire from professional football effective immediately. More news to follow. #goheart” EDIT: via http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/melbourneheart/news-display/Grella-retires-from-professional-football/59362 Melbourne Heart FC confirms Vince Grella will retire from professional football effective immediately. Grella, 33, leaves football as one of the country’s most decorated ever internationals, representing the Qantas Socceroos on 46 occasions, including two FIFA World Cups and over a decade spent in the Serie A and English Premier League. “After 17 years of professional football my body has told me it’s enough,” Grella said. “I need to thank John Aloisi and the club for giving me a final chance to continue as a professional. “I felt the club’s culture was the perfect place for me to be and it’s frustrating I won’t have the opportunity to contribute to it and to John’s first steps as a coach.” While disappointed that Grella will not be in a position to make an on-field impact, Aloisi is proud of the Club’s decision to give Grella one final chance. “Vince has been a brilliant contributor to Australian football for a long time,” Aloisi said. “He deserved an opportunity to see if he could resurrect his career and we are proud that we were able to give him that chance. “We always knew it was going to be a risk, but for me, it was certainly a risk worth taking.” Melbourne Heart Chairman Peter Sidwell added that Grella’s dedication to the Club continues to be exemplary. “The Club will always be grateful to Vince for putting his life on hold and sacrificing so much personally and financially in order to assist this club,” Sidwell said. “It’s the sort of sacrifice that we need from every person within the organisation.” EDIT (sorry for making OP so big too) via http://m.heraldsun.com.au/sport/football/melbourne-hearts-vince-grella-will-retire-tomorrow/story-fndmchp2-1226563619428 VINCE Grella has played his final professional game of football following a horror run of injuries that has prevented him from regaining full fitness, The midfielder tore his calf in his Heart debut, in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at Western Sydney Wanderers where Grella was a second half substitute. It’s believed a shattered Grella told Heart players at training this morning. Grella signed a one-year deal with Heart last October in an attempt to rekindle his career, having been ravaged by injury since joining Blackburn Rovers in 2008. Contrary to the belief that he was commanding marquee wages, his deal was worth $100,000 and his desire to return to full fitness was underlined by the fact he paid personal trainer Tim Schleiger out of his own pocket. The 33-year-old thought he had turned the corner after an intensive two-month program. Picture: Mark Stewart Source: Herald Sun Grella made 46 Socceroos appearances and played at both the 2006 and 2010 World Cups. The Melbourne-born midfielder was one of the most popular Socceroos of the golden generation that broke a 32-year drought to qualify for the World Cup. Grella will officially announce his retirement at a press conference tomorrow. Grella made his NSL debut for Canberra Cosmos in 1996 before playing for Carlton, Empoli, Parma, Torino and Blackburn.
  8. Vrankovic was pretty good in the stint he had early in the season I reckon. He's 18 and only in his first year of aleague so surely he can be given a bit of a chance from supporters. Also it was his first game back in the youth league last week for a couple of weeks. I'm not too sure why he wasnt selected though - could've been injured.
  9. Hearing Red Star have had a board meeting and decided against playing the remaining transfer fee. So Eli is basically 100% heart's
  10. They're virtually broke already and Babalj wouldn't be guaranteed to sell straight away tbh.
  11. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/football/eli-babalj-could-return-to-melbourne-heart-from-red-star-belgrade/story-e6frfg8x-1226557410409 " SOCCEROO Eli Babalj could be set for a shock return to Melbourne Heart within days. The Sunday Herald Sun understands Serbian club Red Star Belgrade is yet to pay the final instalment of the $400,000 transfer fee, which was due last month. While failure to pay the entire transfer fees seldom leads to a return to a player's original club, Heart inserted a contractual clause stipulating Babalj's return should Red Star fail to pay the full amount. Heart, which sold Babalj in June, is believed to have received slightly more than $300,000, meaning Red Star owes the A-League club just under $100,000. Red Star is in financial strife. The striker returned for Red Star's mid-season break a fortnight ago but has remained in Belgrade while the rest of the squad is in Turkey for a mid-season camp. The Serbian season resumes late next month. He has been in regular contact with Heart officials this week. The Heart board this week sanctioned a long-term deal to be offered to Babalj should he return. Babalj, 20, has made just six appearances for Red Star, all from the bench. Alarm bells were ringing when Robert Prosinecki, the coach who signed him, was sacked on the eve of the season. New coach Aleksandar Jankovic signed two new strikers and Babalj has been left on the outer. Babalj's return would be a huge boost for Heart coach John Aloisi in his bid to have Heart finish in the top six. He scored nine goals in 22 A-League games last season after missing the opening month with injury and then made his Socceroos debut last November against Korea. Midfielder Vince Grella will train with the squad this week, which could be timely given Heart will lose skipper and playmaker Fred for four weeks with a quadricep injury suffered in Friday night's 2-0 win against Adelaide. " Absolutely crazy! Best news of the season by far. Babalj looks almost certain to be back in the red & white in days! I just wonder if the club can hold Babalj AND Tadic in the same XI?!
  12. Garcia & Gerhardt for me, however closely followed by Tadic & Mebrahtu. Garuccio will be a gun in a couple of years. Guarantee it.
