Mariners announcing player signing tomorrow morning.

Wanted Thwaite at start of season. His versatility is invaluable at A-League level.

Also got no problem whatsoever with people being dobbed in, this isn't high school and no you're not hardcore ultras from Europe, it's the aleague and the first priority is to keep our club and football growing.
I already liked your post but that is just spot on. I think a few fans just want it to stay a minority/fringe sport.

Martin Mintoff:
Jdidulica just thought I'd say thanks for everything! Much appreciated John!
Being a free agent and trying to get your first pro contract is the hardest part of a footballers life! #football #luckybreak #notgiving
guessing the club have let him go
Thats how unprofessional of a club we are. We don't tell players if they have made the team or not. We just tweet them!!
That was Mintoff tweeting.

CLEARED!
Snap!

Smart A-League coaches are quickly realising good NYS players > fring mature aged players

Eli hungover and jet lagged > our other option for last spot on bench

A bit like Barcelona's set up now with 'Barcelona B'. Imagine when the FFA Cup finally comes around, we could be playing ourselves in a round!

We were clever with the Eli deal and that's why he's likely to return. Red Star were stupid (if the bit about the regular agents fee is true) and that's why they aren't keeping him.
That's right. I think we did well with our deals for Good and Hamill and also replaced one of them with a quality player in Gerhardt.
We are ALWAYS (unless there are Mad Max/Waterworld type changes to world football, I know most here are too young, IMDB it) to be primarily a feeder club. We must be proactive. Sign promising youngsters for as long as possible, sell them off at right time, clauses, have an eye on replacements whether they be YTS or expereinced, having two players for each position etc.

We're a great feeder club..
Munn and JD have already shot it down.
FWIW we are always going to be a feeder club, the only way an A-League club will avoid being a feeder club is if they cannot produce anyone worthy of the next level.
I do not mind us selling players as long as:
- we are clever in the deal
- we continue to develop young players in our YTS and eventually our senior squad
- spend a decent amount of the transfer fees/spare salary cap to sign replacements

Gotta give it to SM and JD, they are pretty prompt on Twitter.

interesting what scott munn said, i'd like to have behich at least stay with us until the end of this season.
He is contracted for the next 18 months. I really hope we stay strong and keep him until the end of the sesason.

Scott Munn just tweeted something about this being news to him

What to do with Fred?

I hear WSW do it. Great idea.

There's no denying that Hoffman is a good guy.
He's just a terrible footballer.
That's it. I follow him on Twitter as I am sure a few of you guys do, seems like a great bloke.
I don't want him in the side and I am critical of JA and co. when he gets a gig but I am not a fan of personal type attacks on Hoffman.

I think it's a bad idea to play Mauk this week. I actually don't think it's his fault, it's the players around him and our 'style' late in away games. It really doesn't suit a raw AM. If we HAD to play him, I would actually want him to start, let him grow into it. IMO best to save him for a home game/next season.
I'd go with...
Redmayne
J.Walker- Gerhardt- Colosimo-Mitchinson
Germano-Thompson
Kalmar
Garcia- Tadic- Williams
Bolton, Golgol, Grella,Garuccio
I prefer Golgol over Kalmar but him being out for a couple of weeks makes him unlikely to start IMO. If he is right I'd swap him with Kalmar.
Would like Edwards (anyone who has technical ability) to be physically up to it if Grella/Golgol aren't right. Might need to go with D-Mac on the bench again.
-
Could a 4-2-2-2 work?
Germano and Grella as the DMs, Garcia and Williams as the wingers and Eli and Tadic as the forwards.
-
Is 4-4-2 too much of a throwback these days? I must be getting old. Maybe Eli in the old Sibon role, could he do it?

Normally I am not a fan of hashtags ouside of twitter but the hashtag on this banner actually makes sense because you know, it's promoting something that has twitter as it's primary vehicle.

I don't know if it is just me, but everytime we go long out the back we are essentially turning the ball over because Tadic either doesn't compete in the air for the header or is always beaten in the air. Just an observation but that is something I would like to see him develop in his game.
He is that kind of player. Outstanding for 2 mins, goes missing for 88. Thing is the two minuts of brilliance results in creating goal chances for himself and others.
Would love to see him becoming a bit more rounded.

Out for 4 weeks with a quad.

Not a huge fan of him as a bloke (not that I/we can make much of an informed call there anyway) but it's a no brainer. The guy would be a gun at A-League level. He is also a good poster boy for the club and we need it.
