  1. If he's a city fan he needs to wobble his head a bit. City's classic away strip is red and black vertical stripes. And this isn't city it's melbourne heart Exactly. Comments like his aren't helping anyone, especially if he is representing an official supporters club. Red and black stripes is my favourite away strip, and I wouldn't have a problem if we went red and white stripes next season as an away strip next season.
  2. I wonder about Omar Abdulrahmen, City have scouted him and he might have come on trial for a bit. But think there are work permit issues stopping a move to Europe.
  3. MCFC released its annual report today. This would have been written up a while ago, so theres a bit on NYCFC but no specific mention of Melbourne Heart Also a fair bit of information about things like academy, community, supporters that might have a bit of relevance to Heart. Full report is here if anyone is interested http://content.mcfc.co.uk/~/media/Files/Annual%20Report/MCFC_AR_Stage_16.pdf
  4. Be realistic carpiste. The club arent going to spend 12 months and $10m on a football club, call for supporter engagement and then walk away when supporters try to engage with them. They may be rich, but they're not stupid. As for history it may not be a 100 year old history but there is history and it belongs to no-one to take away.
  5. City fans got the whole "losing your soul" stuff as well, still do on the odd occasion. It's nothing more than jealousy and fear. For me the soul and identity of a football club is only found in one place and that's the stands. As long as the supporters don't forget where they have come from, and new supporters are educated in what the club is all about, soul and identity is a very difficult thing to remove from a football club. As a long time NMFC supporter I've been through name changes, one off colour changes (orange and white guernsey), potential mergers, home games being played interstate, and permanent relocation and the last one was the only one that I thought meant that the club would have lost it's soul/identity.But that's just me and I know others have felt differently about how each of those changes affected their feelings about the club. If changes end up being made I guess each of you will have your own decisions to make. But to suggest that the soul or identity of the club has been lost before a single change has been made is just wishful thinking bollocks.
  6. Guys. If you wanted to send feedback to MCFC I'd be happy to receive, summarise and forward it to the relevant people. As mentioned in my first post on here I'm born and bred Aussie but resident in Manchester, and a season ticket holder at City for 11 years. I would add that the club (MCFC) won't be sitting back waiting for you to provide feedback, I'm sure they'll be actively seeking that out over the coming months. But I know it can be good to make your voice heard. If you think its a good idea let me know by pm or in this thread and I'll set up a gmail account or something.
  7. Qualifying regularly for Europe and not getting knocked out in the first round of cup conpetitions is proving to be quite expensive for the match going supporter. Hows that for negative? Seriously though, there are things they have done that I havent agreed with. They're not perfect by any means (can any owner of a sporting team satisfy everyone). But the good has outweighed the bad a hundred times over.
  8. Another post from Manchester, although I was born and grew up in Australia including 6 years in Melbourne. I can only echo the comments from my fellow blues complimenting the way our management go about their business. It's not just the money. Supporter engagement, facilities, communication etc have all improved in leaps and bounds since we were taken over. Of course the money, and players bought with it hasn't hurt either. So you are in good hands, and when the people in charge say they will respect the history and traditions of your club I'm inclined to trust them as that is exactly what they've done with Man City. That doesn't mean that they don't want changes in name and colour, I'm pretty sure that will be on the agenda. But you will be given your chance to have a say, and I do believe they will listen. I do think there are pretty convincing reasons for the club to be Melbourne City FC and play in sky blue, but of course you guys will have equally convincing reasons to stay as it is. Nyway, will he an interesting 12 months ahead. I've been following the plans for NYCFC pretty closely over the past six months and will obviously have more of an interest in this one. Hope it goes well for you all.
