I thought that CFG mentioned that the CFA Melbourne was meant to be the hub of not just its Australian ops but also Asia. Interesting really
Overall though this makes sense to keep closer to its business partners in Asia.

Interesting that they are having a membership day during the season. Shows just how hard they are pushing for more memberships given the low uptake so far and the 14k target. Munn's hit the panic button
SEN has also had an increased amount of ads for our game this week too.
Do we think that the club will go down the guest player route this year? After last years effort with Villa, not sure people will jump for joy over that idea.
Whether we we go after the PR value over team stability for once will be important to see.

I love his attitude and hunger to win.
That goal last week showed not only that he can score but also tries to fire up the team and the fans.
He he is a player that many seemed to write off at the start as a journeyman but sometimes things click. Let's hope he continues to star and brings the team along with him.

Can't see us hitting 10K on Friday night, as if will likely take time to build.
The solid thing is though that judging on what I saw today, the inclusion of the W-League team is bringing in more interest across all demographics, which is promising.
The Herald-Sun did also apparently give away a few tickets to today's game, but for once we actually played an exciting brand of football and won. When this has been done in the past it hasn't been such a pleasant experience.
This year will likely be a building year in terms of growth of the fan base, and may be slower than many would hope, but as long as things trend up on and off the park then it is a good outcome.

Whoever we sign as a manager will likely have its pros and cons.
Judging by some of the struggles it appears Adelaide are experiencing since they had their managerial transition at the start of the year, going down the Spanish path isn't alwats paved with gold either
Getting a manager that can work with a salary capped squad is also hard work at times.

Games like this is what will bring people through the turnstiles. I'm not talking about just the win but that it was an entertaining 90 minutes of football. One could argue that Mariners being so attacking allowed the game to open up, but all in all an enjoyable match none the less.
So after all the disappointment is this the standard win that makes us believe that we have turned a corner? Yeah I'm on to you JVS you cunt, get ready for a shit game against Newy due to inferior tactics to bring back.
Great win from the boys though, Bruno is a god, possibly even better than Hoffman. If go as far as saying statue of bruno>statue of Hoffman. Stadium named Mooy Park. Get in cunts, what a win.
I tend to think the football this year is far more entertaining so far because teams like CCM and WSW have moved away from their negative, defense at all costs mentality.
When people look at the EPL they mainly see fast, free flowing football, which does generate excitement. Compare that to the Serie A, which is far less adventurous in its approach, which has lost interest over the years.
As a product, like it or not, we need goals in matches to generate interest and to excite people to come to matches. Having 0-0 draws does nothing to assist us growing the code in this country.
Must give credit to CCM this year as they now want to play attacking football and are using youth talent to try and achieve that. If they can find some better defensive shape, whilst playing this new style, they will likely be a much stronger team as this season develops.

Amazing performance.
So so many players seemed to find a new gear and really stepped up.
Excited by what they can do this year.
-
If the 2 visa players join this week that will be very interesting. Kim Little in particular is being talked up as a superstar by the commentators which should be exciting.
The lack of the Matilda's squad members from our squad this week is terrible timing but a good test for the rest of the team.
-
It's certainly not looking good.
Must admit though that several people I know did not renew this year as they were sick of the frustration and lack of desire shown by most of the players last year to take the next step.
Whether a successful year brings them back will be interesting to see but I don't blame them for feeling that way.
-
Given the crap that we usually go through at a MV hosted derby, I don't blame many for not going along
Sitting in GA and trying to support us at that match is like hell, as every time you go to cheer some MV idiot says something stupid.
Just too many many weirdos at those Etihad games to get me to go back anytime soon.
-
That's big news that they managed to get Michael Petrillo across.
As people have said, JVS really has zero excuses now. If he is unable to get both the desired style and results this year lets hope the club is ruthless and shows just how serious it is about this investment
btw, just noticed your response kinnibari. Thanks for that. Much appreciated.

This Brattan to Manchester City news is very odd. It just doesn't seem to add up.
I personally don't really rate him that highly, although he does have the odd great game. Consistency seems to be an issue for him.
Cant see him coming to us but hey stranger things have happened.

For those that went to the Family Day today, any sign of any building works going on at the CFA Melbourne?
The W-League players have made some statements about expanding the facility to include new facilities so it would be interesting to see how that plays out.
-
Good to see he is on his way back.
How was family day today? Looked like a decent turnout on the pix on Twitter and Instagram.
-
I said that cos you mentioned that you don't have the energy to do it.
That was a joke sorry.
Its far more about the motivation rather than just the energy to pick up the phone or get on the website to renew.
-
In the time you typed this, you could have went on to the site and signed up.
Defeats the purpose of my point though.
If the club has these grand targets, it needs to work harder at making people feel they want to sign up.
At present many would likely feel the same way and the club making the effort goes a long way.
-
I'd assume Dekker would easily start.
Would hope so.
He seems to have some great potential to take the step up and these opportunities are important for players to get that chance.

The video on the Manchester City website with a tour of the CFA Melbourne was interesting viewing.
The available space in the player facilities area doesn't look huge, but it is well appointed and seemed fit for purpose for Manchester City, along with Real Madrid, when they were here.
A comment on another thread had me thinking though in regards to how the youth/ womens training pitches can be better linked to the main complex. It currently feels like an after thought in that location, which goes against the point of a top class training base, but it's hard to see exactly what can be done at this stage.
How much access do youth and women's players get to the gym facilities? Chatting to a friend a while ago seemed to suggest that youth players are given gym memberships to at other locations with no access available to the club gym, but no idea if that's true.
If it is the case, maybe more investments will be required in additional facilities to accommodate the youth/womens/academy operations. There's room out there to do more but I guess we will wait and see.
-
What kind of line up will be played in this match?
With so many injuries, we managed to have a makeshift squad for the Manchester City match but there will still be some gaps this time around too.
Lets hope some youth players get a go again too.
-
This time last year I had signed up but am yet to do so yet.
As much as I want to, I just struggle to find the energy to bother calling the number 😀
Maybe if they call me I might do it. It will show their commitment to re-signing members. So far no call received.

M. Lujic with another 2 goals today.
Seriously hope we are looking at him.
After watching him play last in the FFA Cup match last Wednesday I think I would pass.
Work rate was pedestrian and should have out a few of those chances away at that level if he wants to step up into a HAL team.
As I have said previously, I think there must be other reasons why he hasn't got a HAL deal, even after scoring goals for fun in the NPL. That match seemed to potentially show just why WP didn't play him when he was there on a short term deal and Sydney FC didn't sign him after his trial.

I think we all wondered just what both parties were getting out of the 20% stake.
There was minimal cross promotion and no real apparent advantages of holding that stake, but I guess it served a purpose.
Lets hope that CFG can now step up their planning and look to build a far bigger, better and more successful club.
Judging by the results Manchester City are achieving this off season though I think they better start focusing some more attention that way though 😀

Can you post a link to the article. Interested to see what was said

the article was either amended for their own fun by the OP in that thread or the paper updated it to take out the potentially negative language since.
A link is available in that article of the current content.

^^ and looking to play for free. Any salary will go to charity apparently.
The article I saw alluded to some not so positive things about Melbourne City. Who knows what was meant by it though.

The club really has stepped up its media presence this year.
Better videos and media conferences in a professional set up there at the CFA Melbourne. It shows a far more polished side of the club's branding starting to come to fruition.
