Driving to/from La Trobe or epping to the city can almost be as bad as driving to the s.e suburbs on a shit day. I very biased though coz I fucking hate the northern and western Surburbs, full of scum types.

Lol, the South East is more scum than the west. Yeah you're more likely to be murdered and robbed in the west, but it's a classier place than the shit hole that is the South East of Melbourne.

...and who says Melbourne doesn't have a distinct geographical divide? :P

    Well, you did

There's no real defined geographic divide (that broad-based, inclusive football franchise could gain leverage off) in Melbourne

Glad to see you've taken my light hearted comment so seriously you've gone back over a year to pull out an old comment.

There's nothing soccer specific down there yet, although there's been plans afoot for some time.

I am sure if Heart had been able to do a deal with Casey instead of La Trobe the pitches would have been of better quality than at La Trobe. This is fairly evident from the quality and drainage of the VFA ground and other surrounding grounds... and the Council out there is a lot richer than the one at La Trobe (And the less said of La Trobe's own cash problems the better).

I believe it was discussed early on and either one or both parties couldn't reach a full agreement.

The Clean Energy Finance Corp is something completely different to the carbon tax. It was setup to provide investment for green technology and was delivering returns of about 8% to the Government. Its successful enough that it will probably survive without the Governments help.

I don't think an 8% return is good enough for an investment like this fwiw, and I doubt it would survive without government assistance.

Even if it was going to help achieve a big chunk of the kyoto agreement?

If you're looking at it from that point of view, than yes it is good.

I never understood why Leftists hold up the Kyoto Agreement as one of their Sacred Texts when it was written by the same organisation who created their Living Hell in that of: The State of Israel.

And @hediak obviously The ABC can pass such a Audit and still be fucken biased... and FWIW when compared to a site full of hacks like Crikey even The Age looks unbiased.

Sort it out, BZA, your proof reading skills are shocking today!

  5. And, that comes from the British press, who will do anything to damage City's reputation. At no point in the financial report was it explained what the intellectual properties were, or who they were sold to. Considering that in the last 12 months City have signed sponsorship deals for things like City-branded credit cards in Singapore and energy drinks in Indonesia with the club badge on, it's not inconceivable that that relates to those sponsorships. The press, however, jumped straight on the "how can we make this sound as disagreeable and against-how-football-should-be as possible.

Fair call, thanks for the perspective :)

  6. "City claimed an additional £22.45m income, in their latest annual financial results, by stating they were selling their intellectual property to “related parties”, including City’s American and Australian franchises and the club’s own women’s team."

    Selling their intellectual property...ugh.
