Agree with most of this. Absolutely on Tilio - he's earned the starting spot and it's up to Nabbout to lift to challenge - which IMO he didn't do against Perth. I still think Galloway is better going forward than Talbot, but it's marginal. And Jamo is good to come in as a match wears on because of his leadership as we start to tire.

Let's just keep it steady and a 3-0 win would be nice.

Jeez can really feel for Galloway. I know its been said time and time again but he doesn't do much wrong, scores when given chances and still rides the pine from fullback. In saying that I don't mind what I've seen from Talbot but surely its Galloways time!? I'd be leaving if I were him once his current contract runs out, he's definitely good enough as a starter in the A-league

Van der Venne played his first minutes in the match against Adelaide but otherwise has been injured since he arrived. Berisha and Lam played in that match too, but not sure about the earlier ones as the reporting from the club has been poor. Four players were injured for that game - Good, Talbot, Berenguer and Galloway. We lost all the four matches against A-League opposition with just 3 goals scored and 11 conceded.

Yes well I agree very concerning

There was barely any input from PK in that double winning season, fully inherited squad and strategy. He was a caretaker coach in a weakened league that season and those credits imo are still with Mombaerts for the good football we played.

I’m basing my opinion on what followed after that, where tactical incompetence, player and staff fall outs became so obvious that in combination with the ridiculous side line antics and poor press conferences. This teams isn’t playing for this coach either, the signs are there and time is up.

But hey surely he can be remembered as the coach who won silverware but it’s the order of the day in football that changes are required to maintain certain high standards. Magic has worn out IMO but let’s see if new recruits can make a difference.

We are supposed to be a top club now and progressively taking a small step back every season on the merit that we’ve won something in the past is hard to swallow for me.

And yes, I see JVS as a higher pedigree coach (calmer better communicatot) and he will do also do well with the current resources, probably the majority of the coaches will.

I agree with most of your points tbh. But at the end of the day it's a results driven industry. Mombearts "built the squad" but didn't win with it, PK did. Even if he taught PK a lot, still didn't win the final. JVS had the resources did coach city, won a FFA cup not close to the premiers plate or championship

As you said let's see how the new recruits go, they look great on paper (but they always do)

  4. This one would be so much sweeter.. beating another "melbourne" side.. and victory(the benchmark) who thought they had already won it

would keep the same squad as last sunday except griffo the king of asia in for gomulka, loved what tilio and cola did but much prefer their pace and energy as super subs! Flo burnt out the cobwebs now is ready to dominate. Cmon you city boys

  5. Wouldn't say massive alarm bells got the 3 points.. we had an extremely slow start to last season and we won it all.. Will take the lads a few weeks to really fire together.. our front 3 obviously had an interuppted preparation

Also that disallowed goal for brisbane, if they always give the benefit of the doubt to the attacker apparently you'd almost say it shoulda ended 2-2 looked very tight. As a city supporter I'm glad it was ruled out but as a football supporter you'd like them paid wouldn't you?

Is coming out as gay in 2021 really something that deserves this type of coverage? I feel as in doing it this way, he'll be forever judged and looked at as the gay footballer instead of a footballer who happens to be gay.

As a western society, I feel as if we have come a long way and are accepting people of different sexual orientations, races ext (we're not perfect obviously, but still) Outside of those who are close to him, is it really the buisness of the general public to know private information about how someone chooses to live there life?

Just seems like a whole lot of commotion about nothing imo

I agree. Way to much coverage.. he's gay cool lets play football.. people want it to be normal? Then why don't they act like its normal instead of a tell it all interview shared across the world.. yes he's brave to come out, yes hes the 2nd footballer to ever come out but if we want it to be normal then let's act like its normal ?

Didn't I read that both JMac and Good had said they weren't available to play overseas until the quarantine rules were relaxed?

Yes they did. I think Leckie said the same.. just a bit weird the lads would miss a whole finals series to play Vietnam lol but wouldn't leave pre season training to play an important game like Japan away. I guess they are just over the lockdowns and quarantines like everyone else
