Erik Paartalu is now a free agent. He's 27, won 2 championships and a premiership with Postecoglou's Roar, has played overseas with Tianjin Teda (where it seems he played most games and was rather highly regarded, but he didn't settle in) and even has a few Socceroos caps. He's a defensive midfielder.
Davutovic reported last week that Heart was keen on Paartalu, seemingly for next season, although Paartalu's agent said some things which seem rather strange now:
Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC both tried to secure former Brisbane midfielder Erik Paartalu on loan for the rest of the season.
Heart had also inquired about Paartalu, 27, now with Chinese side Tianjin Teda.
"Three clubs were interested, two clubs straight away and a third beyond this season for rebuilding,'' Paartalu's manager David O'Keefe said.
"Erik was humbled by the interest but he has another two years at Tianjin and felt obliged to honour that. He played every game last season and scored five goals.''
Really hope we sign him. Him and Mooy are just the kind of quality Australian players that could give us multiple good seasons. Hopefully though we don't miss out on him, and other good players, because we are waiting until the end of the season to start rebuilding....
The reason why Erik Paartalu got released is Tianjin's new manager Arie Haan would like an asian defender rather than a defensive midfielder. Have got a good season in Tianjian last year. Would love to have him at heart
you forgot the bottom part where it states he still has two years on his contract )

I know that! As Ryan Griffith said Tianjian is famous for swapping player to corrupt.
I believe we could have him with a smaller wage

I have just returned home from work, going between outside and air-conditioned areas all day. It was hot, and I believe tomorrow is to be hotter. I hope the cool change comes through before three o'clock. It would be unfair to postpone the match, and it is unfair to hold the game at three o'clock in the afternoon without even a chance to have shade.
In fact, there is nowhere in Australia that a three o'clock kick off is reasonable during the summer. This might be the closest to a repeat of the Guns n Roses concert fiasco a few years ago (20 odd) that I will get to experience. I hope there are plenty of places to get water at the Lavington Sports Ground.
Don't bank on a cool change because it's 8pm and it's still pretty damn hot.
There'll be lots of drinks tents, I'm sure of it.
Sure here is hot, it is 41 degree when I arrived Albury around 5pm
Not only a problem for players but also for fans
I will be happy if the match delays to 7pm.

For me is the first ever derby
Went to the derby with my roommate and actually that is the first time we've heard about Melbourne Heart. We said we will support the winning team before the game. In fact we bought our Heart's scarf just before kick-off because I never liked tards
Can still remember we were surrounded by tards fan. I believe all the fans in that bay are tards fan except us. I was so excited when Terra scored the second goal and we cheered so crazy. It was like watching two aliens for tards fans to watched two Chinese cheering so loud. Also, that is the first time I saw a flying flare in football match.
After that I become a fan of Melbourne Heart and wil be a life long Heart fan. I lost my hometown team in 8 years ago, I will give all my passion to Heart all my life!

Heard some rumour that Adam Targgart will head to a Korean Club.
So there is a chance acquire him at January 2015.
Love to see Targgart and Mooy in one team!

Also wouldn't mind some awesome 27yo guy from Brasil or Argentina that's looking for a raise. That seems to be the way to go to win champions league
Elkeson - 24 goals in 28 games for Guangzhou Evergrande last season, and is only 24 years old.
Wouldn't be an international marquee but if you're going to get VISA players, they should be of this calibre.
No way. First, Marcello Lippi loves him. Second his salary is around 3 million aud a year now, we won't fit him in salary cap.
If Elkeson is our international marquee i will be happy. He will bang 25+ more goals in A-league for sure. Way better than Berisha
Holy shit, 3 million a year?! I had no idea ahaha.
Yes, 2 million euro, around 3 million aud
Also, Guangzhou Evergrande paid 5.7 million transfer fee for Elkeson.
IMO, we could have a look on two Shangdong visa player Walter Montillo and Vagner Love. Shandong is a funny team. When their visa player is under-performing, the fans usually offer huge pressure on the board and the board then release the player. If any of these two get released or for sale one day, I would like to have them

Don't be surprised to see someone from Spain arrive. These guys know that market better than anyone.
I think Xavi could be heading for New York. So maybe Alonso from RM?
Maybe Seydou Keita

I'm pretty curious, who do people want to be our goalkeeper, our right-back, our left-back, our centre-backs and our striker/s for next season? When you start to look at it, 5 VISA spots isn't many. And especially in the positions I mentioned before, I think there are very few good Australian players available.
Here's a long list of Australian players that might be available for next season:
AUSSIE MARQUEES- Scott McDonald (June 2015)- Josh Kennedy (?)- Mark Bresciano (?)AUSSIES- Aaron Mooy (June 2014)- Jason Davidson (June 2014)- Erik Paartalu (Dec 2014)- Nathan Burns (?)- Matthew Spiranovic (June 2014)- Zach Anderson (June 2014)- Chris Herd (June 2014)- Daniel Georgievski (June 2014)- Ryan McGowan (Dec 2014)- Richard Porta (June 2014)- Shane Lowry (June 2014)- Carl Valeri (June 2014)- James Wesolowski (June 2014)- Travis Cooper (June 2014)Even though the marquee Australians above aren't coming out of contract soon, we should be able to secure 1 if we pay enough (also, McDonald seems to wantaway from Milwall).I don't think there's any good Australian goalkeepers coming out of contract, so I hope Redmayne proves he's good enough for next season. Mark Schwarzer is maybe the most interesting option, and perhaps he'd make a solid 2nd GK (who could also mentor Redmayne), otherwise no names come to mind.Right-back is really tough as well, especially now that Marrone's signed up with Adelaide for next season. Daniel Georgievski is a 25 year old Australian Macedonian (17 caps for the Macedonian NT) who currently plays at Steaua Bucuresti, and is probably best and just about only RB available for next season.I hope we get Jason Davidson for left-back. He's out of contract at the end of June and he'd be excellent IMO. Not many else besides though.Very undecided on what we should do regarding our CBs. I think we should have 1 experienced CB who can be a leader, so maybe Wielaert, Kisnorbo or maybe we could get Adrian Madaschi. And then maybe Spiranovic or McGowan alongside.I'd be pleased if the club tried hard to get Scott McDonald as our Aussie marquee. He's only 30, so he could give us multiple good seasons. Besides Kennedy, are there any other good options for striker/s?If transfer fees count towards the salary cap, that will make a large rebuild of the squad very difficult, and it means we would probably miss out of a number of quality players like McGowan, who we can't afford to make our Aussie marquee (who's transfer fees wouldn't count towards the cap, so we could pay as much as we want). So I hope we hold on to the likes of Dugandzic, Mauk, Garuccio and Murdocca and maybe some others, because I just don't think there's enough good Australians out there to fill every position, and especially in a few positions like goalkeeper, unless we use up a VISA spot then I'm not sure we can actually do much better than Redmayne.I don't think transfer fee would count in salary cap.
Would love to see Paddy K and Ryan McGowan as our central defenders. Could be a very solid defence there, but I don't think we could have him from season start as Shandong eyes him an important part of the squad as all other visa players in the club are attackers like Vagner Love and Walter Montillo.

Chinese new year, they say red is good luck, we play in red.
Automatic win
Can it be chinese new year every week then ?
Not every week, but usually our celebration of new year lasts a month

Those talking about CFG buying in China, one of the key reasons we got the nod was the lack of corruption. I will take a punt and say that is a big issue with China.
Corruption is a issue but not big. Chinese league now is very competitive and no club in China could make profit.
An above-average Chinese player would cost club more that 3 million AUD as transfer fee and 200K AUD salary.
Buying in China is a waste of money not an investment

IN!I gonna drive, so there is 4 spare seats there. Leaving from Docklands, and get back to Melbourne just after game.

While Lippi was no doubt an important factor, I can't really go past the fact that all bar 3 (including bench players) of their Chinese contingent that played in the ACL were current Chinese internationals, combined with Dario Conca, a Korean international and two class Brazillians in Elkson and Muriqui
I hate salary cap so much now
-
Guangzhou Evergrande were able to become the best in Asia rather easily while still having 7 of their starting 11 being Chinese, which are not particularly known for being very good football players.
Sure they did spend tonnes on their 3+1 internationals and probably even more on getting Lippi, but surely with the right marquee players and internationals, our squad should be strong enough able to run rings around the 4 man teams of china and the best of Japan and Korea.
I'm fucking excited, never did I think it was possible but with ambitious owners with bottomless pockets, I think we can be the best team in Asia.
Correct.IMO the most important factor they won ACL is they having Marcello Lippi as Manager
-
There is no Asian Marquee.
Thinking of this over night while I was watching my last progress bar finish up. Will any of the current overseas players be with us next season?
Our current players
Wielaert
Engelaar
Gerhardt
Mifsud
Germano
Engelaar is the most likely, depending on how he gets his mobility back. Wielaert and Gerhardt are maybes. Mifsud is surely gone. Germano is most likely gone as well. There is a good chance that all of them will be paid out and 5 new players coming in, but I can't see that happening.
Hope FFA could give one, will boost crowd for every club
Don't think any visa player will play for us next season
-
love to have himWhat about taggart? What do you guys think of him
in case he score against us

all 7 players are in national team and Zheng Zhi is the player of the year in asia Let's get him. would love to have him but cannot see any chance he will play hereGuangzhou Evergrande were able to become the best in Asia rather easily while still having 7 of their starting 11 being Chinese, which are not particularly known for being very good football players.

his salary plus bonus would be more than 2 million aud. as we playing under salary cap there is no way to have him
otherwise i hope ffa to exclude asian visa player salary from the cap to let a-league team be more competetive in acl

we gotta think outside the box and go foreign, Someone with recent experience in the j-league or k-league
Why not CSL the Chinese league?
Rumor says Aleksandar Stanojevic will leave Beijing, very good young manager, made Beijing qualified round of 16.

If there is a young aussie, it will be Brendan Hamill as Gangwon FC relegated
If the board would like splash some money, sign a guest contract with player like Shunsuke Nakamura
