It's not a company as such - it's a corporation wholly owned by the Commonwealth. Fahour was therefore a public servant. IMO such pay for a public servant is outrageous.

I have no idea what any CEO is worth, but just because somebody is being paid by the Government versus a private company doesn't to me mean they should be paid substantially less. I'd prefer our smartest people to be working for the Government rather than constantly being poached by private companies to go up against them.

of all the interesting and fascinating things that happen in space, why is it that a solar eclipse is the one space-related thing that gets everyone's dicks so hard?

Go see one and find out for yourself. Most amazing thing my eyes have seen (3 times) and would have gone to the US for this one if it wasn't for those pesky kids.

Not true, state government is paying $1.5bn.

Just doesn't stack up at all with the citylink contract extension, that's worth more than the whole project will cost, yet a subsidy and tolls are required.

I swore I read that the Feds were paying the 1.5bn but cant find it now. Either way, still dodgy.

So much shit when the EWL was going to be built by the last state government, but Labor gets a free pass for their extremely dodgy toll road? No tender or anything, just a closed doors deal. Wonder how much the labor politicians are pocketing from this.

I guess the main difference is that the state government is paying $0, and with less houses being demolished theres not enough people to stand in newspaper article photos with their arms crossed. But I agree the more that comes out about the tunnel the more that stinks about it.

Just because someone thinks 18C is an invasion of persons rights (Which it blatantly is) does not make themselves a Bigot...

Well Brandis clearly thinks there is a link between 18C and Bigotry as per the quote below when defending the proposed 18C changes. Without getting bogged down on 18C or what a bigot is or isnt, the point was that it came across as being out of character for him to what hes previously shown.

"People do have a right to be bigots you know," he told the Senate.

"In a free country people do have rights to say things that other people find offensive or insulting or bigoted."

    BTW well done on Brandis...

I appreciated his speech, but two observations I made

-It seems to be out of character with what he has said previously about peoples rights to be bigots and 18C
-None of the Libs stood up to applause him

I dont really know much about him, but seemed to me he was speaking more from the heart rather than towing the party line and is more compassionate than I thought he was,

TTIM: These virtue signalling tossers ripping down confederate statues in the states. Saw a clip of a bloke stomping and spitting on a statue and looking up to see if the cameras could see. #lookblackpeopleimnotracist

Honestly, not surprised some of these nut case neo-nazi are coming out of the woodwork. Just a little tip to ANIFA and other retarded lefty groups, don't fuck with the far right, you will die.

Internet and society were a lot better before social media

Did he quit after all that?

Anyways, pretty much all pollies with any level of status are corrupt in some respect, Peter Baelish wasnt that far off the money when he said "Chaos is a ladder"

Not yet, can't see him surviving or winning the next election though after this mornings revelations of being offered substantial donations on a recording.

Yeah I agree, its probably my biggest issue with Australian politics at the moment and nobody seems to want to do anything about it.

I used to ref Futsal. Pay was okay but fuck me it's shit having to put up with the crap you get from every weekend warrior with a chip on his shoulder.

I was a cricket umpire for 1 season and hated it. I'd have trouble getting to sleep for days after games because of a decision I may have got wrong and thinking how Ive affected the result. Need to take it seriously enough to be good at it, but also not take it seriously when you get something wrong.

Regardless of whether i agree with it or not, the very basic logic makes sense really. A MP or senator that doesnt have dual nationality doesnt have a conflict of interest. Simples.

Yet we allow Chinese to bribe our politicians and a yank to control most of our media

If the AFL is going to be our society's morale police, they are going to be very busy and won't have much time to run the game.

Fair dinkum some days I think I've fallen down a rabbit hole.

I think its bizarre that its gone public, but if this type of thing was going on in a private company I would guess people would still be forced to resign.

And how out of touch with reality is Bruce last night claiming that Essendon will become everybodys second favourite team? Half the football world wants them deregistered!

If I was I don't resile from it because they are a bloody pest on Beach Road, but that's got nothing to do with my interest in professional road racing.

Just seems odd to me for 2 reasons:

-That you'd follow a sport where the breeding ground for the competitors are places exactly like Beach Rd.
-That you didn't understand why the cycle path along the bay is no good for a road cyclist (or any cyclist who wants to go faster than grandma speed)

I don't class myself as a mainstream sports fan. Really only interested these days in football and cycling. The only time I'd noted mixed martial arts was as MMA, but never heard of UFC, which I gather is some U.S. promotion company.

Weren't you bagging out cyclists on Beach Rd around 6 months ago in the other sub forum?
