@HughJass You may very well be correct but I'm still not sure of the exact administrative arrangements. Only tonight did I come across a website about APL, which is here: https://aplfootball.com.au/ (and a brief comment here on it is how easy to see how APL is soaking up the money on administration)..

I do note however that FA's this season's calendar https://www.footballaustralia.com.au/news/football-australia-release-domestic-match-calendar-202324 includes reference to the A-Leagues, and I also note Garcia's comments concerning international breaks:

“As part of the scheduling, we’ve also been working closely with Football Australia, Clubs and other stakeholders to determine the best path forward for our season alongside the AFC Asian Cup Qatar 2023. In order to maintain consistency, to avoid mid-week regular season games and congestion with the AFC Champions League and AFC Cup competitions, it has collectively been decided that we will not pause the regular season during the tournament.”

I'm uncertain about subjects such as match officials and disciplinary actions. And my understanding is that it is Football Australia that has membership of the AFC and FIFA, and players (and transfers and loans) have to be registered with FA in order to participate in all FIFA matches, internationals and inter-club matches such as the Asian Champions League.

I doubt very much that APL can just cock a snook at FA and go out on its own, whatever any formal linkages there are or not, as there would be a mass exodus of players aspiring to go anywhere with their careers. APL appears to be going broke as it is and this would hasten its demise.

In continuation of our conversation about crypto pyramids, I would like to recommend an Irish site that lists casinos that accept cryptocurrency - https://sloteire.com/crypto-casinos - I sometimes play here, but not for money, for fun. There's a pretty good list of sites there, have a look.

They also write that there will be a pause in the men's and women's A-League while the national teams play. Why then is the time for the Cup in Qatar excluded from this pause? It seems strange.

The thing is jw, there is plenty going on right now in the world of aleague football. Now had the sport some coverage like afl then you would hear how Jamie MacLaren has jetted off on a holiday or how CCM is about so sell their youth prospect off to Bayer Munich. But seeing as there is next to no coverage during the season regular, its basically a ghost town when it comes to the off season.

Why do you think there's no active coverage? Lack of funding?

Judging by the $12m we're supposed to have spent on just one (but oversize) playing surface at Bundoora looks like there's a fair bit of dosh still to be spent.

What is the total amount of all construction, did they report? I didn't find that in the article that's in the first post of this thread.

    Hi all.
