  1. Special thanks to whoever it was who posted about foxtel go. Watched from out of town and wouldn't have wanted to miss that for the world.

    Brilliant !

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I watched it on Foxtel Go on the Spirit of Tassie lol. Bailed up the only guy wearing a Victory shirt on the ship while wearing my Heart shirt and told him the end score. I have never seen a bottom lip wobble in anger so much.

  2. Diamanti is the sort of player we will get next season I think.

Fucking hope so! Quality goal just now.

He is just above a jouney man Serie A player, but one who was always the key creative player in the team he is playing for. I remember him destroying Roma a few years ago. For the right money there would be several players of his ilk around.

Bit harsh dont you think? imo that left foot of his will see him get a spot on the plane to brazil - regardless of where he is playing.

hes a good player - but he can go missing on occasion.

When I say journeyman I mean he has played for a lot of clubs rather that a comment on his ability, which he clearly has. Not sure he will be in Brazil.

Apparently before he made the decision to move to the club, only a few weeks ago, he spoke to the Italian national team coach and asked if playing on China would affect his chances of making the WC squad, to which the coach apparently said it wouldn't at all.

  3. Tell as about yourself croar, what are your hobbies? Do you like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain? Did you think it was a penalty in the champions league game? How many titles do you think we will win in the next five years on a scale of 4 to 5?

My story begins on high seas where mother and father got it on. From day one I show great interest in taking over family business of selling frozen yogurt. I arive in Brisbane with somewhat cockeyed optimism and Mr Moby in hand. Had to close down frozen yogurt business because it contain high level of potassium benzoate, but then I met wife who own semi-successful fermented fish sauce business.

I have many hobby. I enjoy walking on footpath and rolling down hills. Thats all.

Much apology, I not watch champions league game but I sure everyone is wrong.

On scale of 4 to 5, 4 being no chance of winning title, 5 being sheikh buy title, I say heresay, theresay, say it isn't so.

    I chuckled HEARTily. Geddit geddit?!

  4. At 3:48 of the interview; when JvS was asked whether Mifsud will come back into the (matchday) squad this week he simply replied "No" haha.

Off topic, but just in reference to them speaking about Bresciano, but let me just say that I would give my left nut to have that guy playing for Heart.

Sure he's respected greatly, but there's always been more focus on (albeit absolutely brilliant players) Kewell, Viduka, Cahill, etc. Bresciano, in my mind, was/is the most underrated, and perhaps the best Socceroo of that 2006 squad.

  5. How many RBs win you the league? All you need is serviceable players there. Which Hoffman has been this year. If we are re-signing "serviceable" players in key spots in the spine of the team i.e. GK, CB, DM, AM, CF instead of genuine quality then i will be concerned. Anyone who expects us to sign improvements in every position of the field is delusional about how the salary cap will effect signing new players. Why would a settled player in another team who isn't of marquee quality change clubs for equal or lesser money? Just because we are owned by city doesn't mean we instantly get to choose whatever player we want. If there wasn't a cap then yes we probably could. This takeover will be an evolution rather than a revolution like you saw at city.

Not many RB's will win you the league, but they sure can help you lose the league.

Wanderers midfielder Aaron Mooy to join Melbourne Heart next season

    David Davutovic

    February 5, 2014

MELBOURNE Heart has landed Aaron Mooy at the third attempt, with the Western Sydney midfielder to join the club next season.

The Herald Sun understands Mooy, 23, has chosen Heart ahead of a number of lucrative offers with clubs prepared to make him their Australian marquee player.

Though he effectively becomes the first signing of the Heart revolution, Mooy is understood to have made the decision in January, well before Manchester City's $11.25m takeover was announced.

Mooy, who remains an outside chance to make the World Cup squad for Brazil, will stay with the Wanderers until May when the club hopes to conclude its A-League finals and Asian Champions League campaigns.

It is believed the Wanderers offered him a contract extension last July but Mooy preferred Heart's more lucrative multi-year offer.

Full back Jason Hoffman and keeper Tando Velaphi are believed to be the first Heart players to sign extensions under the new owners, although Heart officials refused to comment.

Nine Heart players will be coming out of contract, led by Harry Kewell and marquee import Orlando Engelaar. David Williams, Patrick Gerhardt, Patrick Kisnorbo,

Michael Mifsud, Sam Mitchinson, David Vrankovic and Jeremy Walker are the others.

Three foreign spots are potentially up for grabs with only Dutchman Rob Wielaert and Argentine Jonatan Germano contracted for next season.

The news comes off the back of the busiest January in A-League history with more than 30 players either arriving or leaving clubs.

While the Melbourne sides were among the quietest, the Herald Sun understands that young Victory midfielder Jimmy Jeggo has agreed to join Adelaide United next season.

Melbourne Victory and Sydney FC both tried to secure former Brisbane midfielder Erik Paartalu on loan for the rest of the season.

Heart had also inquired about Paartalu, 27, now with Chinese side Tianjin Teda.

"Three clubs were interested, two clubs straight away and a third beyond this season for rebuilding,'' Paartalu's manager David O'Keefe said.

"Erik was humbled by the interest but he has another two years at Tianjin and felt obliged to honour that. He played every game last season and scored five goals.''

I don't think Engelaar has shown enough to warrant the slot at this stage. Would love for him to stay on and find a way to fit him under the salary cap, but I just can't see him being our marquee man in 2014/15, unless he absolutely destroys the league in the last nine weeks of this season.

Engelaar hasn't shown enought to warrant a slot? Give the guy a break! He's only been back for a few games.

IMO, in these few games he has already shown the ability to lift the spirits and hopes of an entire team whose morale has been drilled into the ground, which I think is one of the most important aspects of a marquee player.

    ...at this stage...

I'm not writing him off at all. I'm just saying that to be our international marquee next season, he's probably going to have to be one of the best performing players in the league for the remainder of the season. We've got a scouting network and we'll soon have resources at our disposal that the other sides could only dream of and we'll be able to secure any of a number of world class players in the offseason. Engelaar's healthy now and he'll be back for the trip to NZ. Nothing wrong with making a guy earn his spot.

    I get what you mean.

    My mistake.

If City want Heart to play a more posession based, passing game like I have heard, then Engelaar would fit in really well.

He has a knack for keeping the ball even when being swarmed by players, and his passing ability is great. His place in the center of the park, would allow him to control the play in a posession type game.

On another note, he claims he's really happy in Aus so as far as I'm concerned, City shouldn't bother looking too far for a new marquee option.

  8.

This what City said, as reported 23rd January.

"But it has to be the right player - they have to care about and share the vision we're trying to create, and fit the pattern of the way we want the team

to play. It's not just about plucking someone out of the EPL, or Serie A, or La Liga, and saying, play in Australia.

"We don't want it to be a final payday for a player. They've got to invest in it as much as we're investing in them. That's about developing the club,

they have to play their part in that. If they don't it doesn't benefit anyone.'

So based on that IMO we're looking at someone who's going to give at least 2 years to the club as a player, play a role in development of younger players, set a professional example to the others at the club, and definitely is not the prima donna or hard-to-handle type.

I reckon the marquee needs to be that, regardless, at every club. Producing on the pitch is all well and good, but considering how much more your international marquee is likely to be on than anyone else, he should also be your hardest worker, or close to it and an absolute professional in every respect. If he's just looking at it as a set-up for retirement, to get some sun and coast around in a second rate league, it's pretty easy to see what sort of problems that can cause with the team's chemistry.

I don't think Engelaar has shown enough to warrant the slot at this stage. Would love for him to stay on and find a way to fit him under the salary cap, but I just can't see him being our marquee man in 2014/15, unless he absolutely destroys the league in the last nine weeks of this season.

  9.

I wonder will SBS ever call him back as a guest football analyst considering his shit run? They are probably thinking why would we call this bloke back to give "expert" advise if he never achieved any results?

I think they will. He's their mate. They think it's the club, players and us fans fault that JA didn't succeed. They are all pricks to me.

    http://theworldgame.sbs.com.au/lucy-zelic/blog/1178154/Aloisi-the-scapegoat-for-a-broken-Heart

As confidently predicted hahahaha. The article starts off with a bit of promise. Seemingly winding up to a conclusion that pointed the blame at Aloisi for his own downfall.

But get to halfway through the article, and you start seeing the words "injury, "unlucky, "under-peforming", etc...

What is wrong with these people?

  10. Pretty silly when people just give a solid "nope" with no explanation, and those who bang on about him being an ex-Victory player and that's cause enough to not take interest in him.
I can only see good things from the possiblity of trying to get Traore with us. With Behich going, what better excuse to try sign the best left back in the league?
Also, imagine how fucking much Victory would whinge about it. Awesome!

  11. Whine Whine fucking WHINE!! I hate the drive...nyah the train costs a fortune...nyah Albury is too far away... I'm driving to the game FROM CHUFFING WARRNAMBOOL! WHY?? Cos I love this club whether they play in Melbourne, Morwell, Bendigo, Ballarat, Geelong, or on the border. I realise some have family constraints, others work committments. But as I am free that weekend I will bust my guts to attend, finance it myself, and NEVER whinge about distance, temperature, or lack of tofu burgers in Dean St.

Harden up, fire up, and travel up!

    Yarraside boys home or AWAY!

Catch the true supporters at the Lavington Sports Bar...lets get pissed and help the lads win another.

    Brilliant!

  12. Why dont we fkn play in geelong? or frankston, ballarat or bendigo?

    This.

It seems only logical that we would try build more of a fan base around places like Geelong and Ballarat.

Closer places where the fans in these areas would be more beneficial when it comes to attendance back in Melbourne.

That being said, it is good to give what fans we might have in more remote areas something to get excited about.

I still don't get why it's in Albury, though. Why not Mildura, or somewhere remote in Vic?
