So let me get this straight. For years people have been banging on about how JVS built the philosophy and culture of this club and how great it is because he is such an amazing football mastermind.

But now people are arguing that JVS isnt to blame because the problems are caused by the philosophy and culture of the club, and thats not the coaches fault.

I've heard it all now. Absolutely amazing.

No, more to the point that that JVS is only part of the problem. I think changing him will make a small difference, and will not be as significant a some think. Am sure you have heard that before. Have never bought into the philosophy and culture nonsense. Always thought it was more marketing than anything else.

  2. Totally agree Herman, but I think it runs deeper than just the coach.

We sacked Aloisi, and even though its a bit early, he seems to be doing well at the Raw. Why? Probably because they dont have the team issues already discussed, or at least have them to a lesser extent.

We should sing this for 90mins on sunday ahahahahahahahahah

40-45 minutes would be better, I reckon. Followed by a mass walkout.

Best time for a walkout would be when they score their 3rd in the 80th minute.

Its either going to the game or sitting at home with a crying newborn. Unsure which is worse.....

  4. Lets keep this membership related and positive rather than why we people are not joining as there is already another thread of 150 pages discussing.

Posted over 3wks ago and now its only at 151 pages. Its dead, so no need to reopen it in another thread.

  5. I think we need to look at these changes beyond our current perceptions. In 5-10 years down the track, it is likely that the majority of us will be thankful that such an opportunity came along. Not only will it bring growth and success to the club, but it will benefit the entire league. If we really want the sport to take the next step in Australia, we need this kind of foreign investment. From my perspective, soccer in Australia has been somewhat stagnant at the professional level for quite some time now. These are the kind of investments that will put us on the map and expand the sport throughout the country.

I agree that standing by your principles is important, but Melbourne Heart was far from an established identity. If change was to occur, it's better that it has in the early stages of the club's existence. I'm not sure that MHFC would have been sustainable for the long-term given the previous set-up and club management. At the very least now, MCFC will ensure that we are competitive and expanding the club. The fact that they've kept the red and white to a degree provides for a 'transition' as opposed to cleaning the slate entirely and starting from scratch. Hopefully that aspect is preserved indefinitely.

Whether people decide to stay on or not is entirely up to them, but I'm stoked for what lies ahead.

Indeed. I feel its a new chapter in the history of the club rather than starting something completely new. I support this club for reasons other than the colours and the name, but if you support the club primarily for the colours, name, owners etc or whatever reason, then I suppose you cant be blamed for leaving.

I like the colours, the name change and the new emblem so I have already renewed my membership. Rather than continually re-stating why I am still a member, reading the same or opposite of why people are not signing I will just leave this thread. Trying to change someones opinion when they dont want it changed is a waste of time. People have made up their minds and I hope to see them at next seasons game, or at the Imp for some WC matches.

With the sponsor being Etihad, why not?

Each home game a lotto for members to fly to watch a game in NY or Manchester and vice versa. How good would that be?

And because I suggested it, I get the first ticket.

One way, get your own way back.

Stay in NY/Manchester or come back home to work. Hmmmm difficult decisions.......

  7. Renewed yesterday when I received the email. Was only the 5th at that stage so good to see its at 548 as of now.

Once the people complaining the most get over the fact that their membership price does not include a seat on the board to sign off on any changes they will come around. They just need a bit more attention and to stomp their feet before they reluctantly renew.

Overall, I was very happy with the email. The home shirt is really the only thing that I don't love. And there were some nice little touches, which can hopefully be taken as an olive branch from the ownership (e.g. Villa posing with the red shirt, rather than the new home shirt). A big tick from me.

Pretty much where I'm at too. Have been pretty loud with my opinions about the home kit changing but knowing that change was inevitable I'm content with what they went with; it's better than the solid sky blue kit I feared we would end up with. I would have preferred some red on the home kit but I'll take solid white with the blue stripes. I'm actually a fan of the logo too, the flag of Melbourne is present and I don't mind the blue border which obviously had to be there.

Agree that David Villa posing with the red shirt was a nice touch...all in all, I'm ok with the kit/name/logo outcome and thrilled about seeing Villa play for us.

My prediction is the colour change is not over. Its well known that the owners wanted the solid sky blue and they will probably keep working towards that.
