  1. Honestly, for the life of me I can't see how anyone would immediately think that HeartFC had a connection with ManC just because we had some blue in our shorts, tops or whatever. The whole colour debate is stirred up by some local ManC fans and journos looking for an angle on the story. If you want to make the conenction obvious then you might as well call us ManchesterCity-in-MelbourneFC. Oh fcuk no please only stirring Sheikh :(

Its rather dumb how blown out of proportion it all is and how it makes no sense, whatsoever. Once again, City owners, who arent from manchester city incase you didnt know, have bought this club, NOT Manchester City, nor local manchester representatives. We are in no way shape or form anything like them and have absolutely no reason to have ANYTHING to do with them, other than be known for having the same owners, thats where the link starts and finishes. To see people doing mock jerseys, with sky blue in them, i sont know whether to cry or laugh at the stupidity of those that even started suggesting such things. Club colours mean something, they arent to be treated like a colouring book.

I'd love to agree with you, but I do feel its more than likely the club will become Melbourne City FC and some kind of common branding will appear.

The well considered comments that CFG reps have made so far make mention of a common branding being something that they would look at, although would seek input from fans and stakeholders before any changes were made. With NYCFC also on their books, it will look at ways to make sure all 3 clubs can leverage off a central brand element IMHO.

I am sure the branding gurus are hard at work coming up with concepts for the club now.

I hate the fact its a catch 22. You know the clubs better off, but if its not the club you initially started supporting, then fuck it.

I think you should read again http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/melbourneheart/news-display/A-Letter-from-the-CEO-of-Manchester-City-FC/84083

It is indeed Manchester City that has taken an 80% share of the ownership of Melbourne Heart.

Heart needs to have its own identity, colours and name is a big part of that, its forever in the history of the club. I'm Trying to point out, the fact we have same owner, doesnt justify or require us adopting anything of theirs. Using their facilities is fine, afterall the same sugar daddy is paying for it anyway as per that article. Not else sure what your post is trying to imply.

  4. For me (think Ned Zelic) it would have to be the derby last seaons opener. Watched it, and impressed by the quality on show and someone giving it to Victory i decided to take up A-League and cemented Heart as my adopted team. Very happy with my choice on both accounts, cant keep up with EPL anymore due to work commitments so A League and Heart are filling the gap.

  5. $6.40 for a shitty hot dog with no cheese, plus having to pay for sauce. Pls.

I never pay for sauce mate. Just pay for your food then lean over and grab the sauces. The pimply little 15 year old working the till will just look at you and smile awkwardly. For whatever reason, this just cracked me up.

Regarding the thread, bringing Cahill down could be seen as a viable for both on and off the pitch benefits.

  6. I'm not feeling as confident about this one. The game is away from AAMI, Smeltz ALWAYS scores against us. We'll need to score at least 2 goals to ensure that we don't lose.

Could actually be the perfect timing for this fixture. We are the home team away from home, maybe that has a positive mental effect on the team to get these players to finally win away from AAMI, and we are finally on a run of form. Could be a great 3rd game in a row.

How did we get affiliated with Albury of all places anyway....

Would actually love to make it down, but never been to an away game, no mates will be interested and would need to drive 6hrs round trip...

You'll be going on the long way if you go down :P it's north heheJust say when, and i'll laugh. ;)

It'd be good if in the future we organise a mini bus ourselves!

  8. Hello All,

Welcome to the Man City family.

Not much to add on top of what other City fans have said other than to say I hope you keep your colours if thats what you want.

Enjoy the ride, its like the school bully has just found out hes not the biggest in the playground....you are....but your not a bully!

Would you have supported City if the colours and name changed when the takeover happened?

This goes for all the City fans on the forum.

  9. Agree with the last few posts. There is no need for insulting or provocative chants and banners. This buyout brings so many positives. The new owners are incredibly professional and will already know the prevailing sentiments. We will gain far more credibility if we just keep turning up in red and white and supporting the team with our "come on you boys in red" etc

I think this is the best way to approach the situation, if they still go on to change the colours and name, then we can talk about the consequences.

  10. There is one thing that can be said in favour of JA/JD and that is becoming apparent now - they seem to have assembled a reasonable team (yes there are some poor players and some good ones). Perhaps JA's calling is not coaching but talent spotting and list management.

Ive been wondering about this, and what you say could be very true. Kisnorbo seems to be a great addition imo, but ultimately it depends on who did majority of scouting to bring in the players we have, that deserves the praise.

  11. I wasnt supportive of JA as head coach from the get go,but i will admit he had a bit of bad luck in his spell regarding players out injured and so on.

Judging by his 30mins last night Engelaar wouldve made a difference on the pitch had it not been for his injury, and perhaps JA wouldve faired better results wise, but in the end i believe JA wasnt the man for the team regardless.

  12. His easily the most frustrating player in the team, before his typical one-off brilliance, he was just lobbing the ball to noone time and time again giving away possession when we were struggling to get a grip with 10men understandably.

His too inconsistant, but then again he'd be in Europe if he had consistancy to his game, and not be playing for us.

  13. The way I see it, if the option back in 2010 was between following Melbourne Victory and a satellite EPL club called Melbourne City playing in sky blue (even if it was a nominal amount) I would probably have ended up following the Mongs instead or continued my uninterest in the A-League.

And knowing most people on bere who were there at the start of Melbourne Heart, I imagine most would have done the same aswell.

Most of us followed Heart because we wanted to support a club from the start that was from Melbourne and represented Melbourne. Not a club that reperesents a sporting club from overseas that's based in Melbourne.

Regardless of whether a theoretical mini Man City in Melbourne had of fulfilled a mandate of raising the game in victoria or not. The majority of us would not have gotten behind that club, either because of our own epl allegiances or because It didn't represent Melbourne.

This is the crux of the matter. If a mini man city wouldn't have interested you in 2010 as a second licence, then it shouldnt interest you now just because they've replaced our previous half arsed owners. And any change in name, colours and logo that the new owners brings takes us closer to becoming that mini man city.

Pretty much this, main thing i want is the clubs stability to be ensured, to achieve that the club needs to strive to improve on and off the pitch. I would opt for this rather than mini man city, dont care about the money and potential success i want to support Heart and help it grow not just have some artificial club not serving its own purpose.

  14. Seems to me as a MCFC fan from the other side of the World, there are some ungrateful bastards here!

From what I have read, not just here, the Heart were more or less bankrupt and could easily have been wound up this year.

You have had nothing to shout about judging by the teams results, and at the end of the day we don`t support our teams to fail!

You have been given the opportunity to climb the league, to compete with the best, to bring in some silver to your(at the moment)non existent trophy room.

You go on about the history of the club and that you should keep your colours and your name?

Your club has no history. You have supported them yes, you have great memories of being with the club since the start, but it still has no history, or at least nothing to be proud of.

I know it`s off the rail but what if Coke decided to save your local RolaCola factory? You think they`d want to keep the name, the bottle, the motif? Not a chance.

MCFC is the brand, blue is the colour, get used to it because if the owners say that`s how it is going to be, then that`s how it`s going to be!

You may think there is a need to contact the club with your feelings but I have to tell you now that there is someone on this site and any other Heart forums, working on behalf of the owners, looking at what people have to say. They will be aware that there are some who don`t like the idea of name or colour changes. These people are not stupid.

Making any kind of approach to the clubs owners complaining about colours and name, threatening to stop attending matches or anything else you think will help you keep the name could lead to them pulling out.

$5,000,000 or whatever  it was they paid is a drop in the ocean to them. They could easily decide to walk away leaving you with nothing.

Be very careful what you wish for.

Get out of here ya tossa.

  15.

After doing a bit of reading and reading in between the lines this weekend on the Buy Out I have TBH and say the Pixie Dust on the sale of the club has really started to rub off and agree with FB on a lot of points. In fact I can even see why the MVFC fans are commenting on this sale being the birth of a new club rather than a transition for Melbourne Heart.

    Already:

    • Sidwell when asked about the club's colours said "It was completely up to the owners”.
    • The FFA have already said it was City’s choice to change the Club’s Colours and it was normal for there to be two football sides in the same league with the same colours.

I think it’s pretty obvious that alongside the Crest and Name that our colours will be changed.

At this stage I will be supporting Melbourne City – But not as I supported Melbourne Heart because the more and more I think about it I agree with the Mongs and if our Colours, Crest and Name Changes then dont see this new team as Melbourne Heart.

It makes me wish they started a 3rd Melbourne team, Melbourne City. This is basically the death of Heart football club if you know what i mean.

True. But a 3rd Melbourne club backed by city surely would have killed us off too

    Exactly right.

Now ideally, the owners step in and fix whats wrong with the club, inject their expertise (and cash obviously) into the club to improve on a pretty dame nice foundation (good fans, brilliant stadium) and do whats necessary to deliver where it counts most, on the pitch! Get the fans out and singing and cheering something worthwile, dont waste the peoples time anymore, but also don't make the last couple of years worht nothing if you suddenly change crucial things like the name and colours, to me that is a different club now. I would budge on the name change (only because people seem to take the piss out of Heart alot, but that's probably more to do with the piss poor onfield performances) but in an idea world, for me not the name nor colours should change.

  17. The fact we are owned by the same owner, does not tie us geographically or historically at all! City have sky blue for a reason, read the history on it etc.

People suggesting colour change to me sound like they are talking out of their ass, and if it happens then its fkn bullshit. Nothing ties us and city, apart from being bought by the same Owner, who arent manchester born and bred, so it really pisses me off to see suggestions we're just going to be City mkII, this clubs should have its own meaning and identity.

  18. Tbh dont even want the name changed let alone the colours of the club. I also dont want to be Sydney Fc or manchester zcity, Chelsea, Psg etc. i hate how football has become so much a business.

I hope we utilise the takeover by making a good youth system, bringing in good coaches (finally) and setting up the club for long-long term success. And im happy with the A-league caps and what not, last thing you want is a 2 horse race every season.

  19. Firstly the were some positives to take out of that match. Secondly, sorry to bring negativity here but FFS, yes JA we heard you the first time that its tough in these conditions you don't have to repeat yourself. Look perhaps he mentioned other things during that interview but the guy still likes to place blame on something other than where it needs to be and then repeat it over and over. Clearly this part of JA has not changed from last season. Mark my words, come any undesired results this season and we will see excuses galore again from this guy, blaming everything but himself. However, I would love nothing more than to be proven wrong.

Totally agree with ya, i really think Aloisi will fail again this season, bar the players bailing him out and covering his short comings. I couldnt believe watching that intervie what he was saying.

  20. Shockingly unimaginative stuff im afraid. Got a photo with aloisi, shook his hand and wished him luck but that was more because i know he will get the sack this season. As it was mentioned in here, him and the ranger were content with that performance!

We need a striker asap, theres just no attacking threat, cogesion or purpose in our attacks. Really bummed thats its looking like last season all over again.
