  1. No mate, this is what happens when you have a freak transfer of weight on sticky surface. People succumb to these injuries whether they play 50 games a season, 5 games, or socially once a week at 5's.
  2. Real shame for the kid, hope it's not as serious as feared. I got the sense that Brendan didn't seem overly worried in his post game interview, but we will see. By all accounts the boy is working hard to get accustomed to the physical Scottish game and has been working hard on the training pitch. Seems to have his head screwed on, which can be rare in football these days, a good trait.
  3. This is a guy that didn't play pro youth football and was picked up playing futsal. To say there has been a lack of development in his first 3 full pro seasons is absolutely absurd (Not aiming this at you particularly). I don't care if folk say "But it's against pub teams", whatever you think of the league, Rogic is improving in said league every year. Celtic fans on a whole would be flabbergasted at the thought folk down under think he hasn't improved. Having watched all your WC games, I thought he looked only one of few who looked remotely capable of producing something special. Ball retention excellent against the world champions, thought he was really good against the Danes as well. This isn't Gareth Bale for Wales, Salah for Egypt - It's Tom Rogic at the end of the day, maybe far too much is expected. One of his best performances came against Man City in the UCL, we played exactly to Tom's strengths and he was a headache for them all night. He can do it, but as a #10 in the hole, he needs movement and quality around him, he can do it on his own but as you have realised, that is far easier against the smaller teams. If I have one criticism of Rogic, it would be his fitness. His ability and touch with a football is up there with the best I have seen at Celtic. Would be absolutely gutted to lose him. Premiership, Championship - The fees coming out of both are scandalous. Leagues 1 and 2 have the same problem, I don't see the relevance, it's quite clear what I mean by "English football".
  4. I find it funny seeing A-League fans dismissing the Scottish league, we are actually in very similar situations, both surrounded by riches yet expected to compete. You have China, Japan, Gulf teams and we have the poison that is English football, with their grossly inflated prices and the inflation that causes around the continent. Sorry, but Rogic's development over the past 3 years has been fantastic. He was sent back to the A-League at 21/22 and looked finished at the club, at 25 now he is a huge player for us. How much more progress do you expect? He has up until this season only had 3 full seasons under his belt, that is fuck all in the grand scheme, he progressed from a no hope with obvious skills to a key player from early 2015-mid 2016. Utterly bizarre to see this chat regarding Rogic, having been watching him every single weekend.
  5. Your parent club seem to have trust in the league...The amazing EPL's 7th placed side just needed extra time to knock a pub league side out of the Europa League, not bad. Anyway, player development is not all about the quality of the league, we know we don't play in an elite league, there is £23m in prize money split between the 12 member clubs in Scotland, you get a £100m for being relegated in England, go figure. We have infrastructure, training day in day out with good players, top coaches and play at a level that does allow players to develop, no matter what pommy newspaper your reading. There's a reason PSG sent their Euro Champ U17 golden ball winner on loan to Celtic, there's a reason Arzani is on his way.
  6. Option to buy, knowing our transfer model, that likely means <£10m. Looks like City just after a quick profit rather than really growing him and really increasing his value. Pure business, poison. Would rather see him just go straight to a club who really wants him, cut out this middle man shit.
  7. As a striker, he's the type that plays on the shoulder looking for balls in behind, using his pace to stretch teams. As a winger, more of a head down and get to the byline or knock it by players into space. Playmaking or creativity wouldn't be commonly attributed to him. A player who would perform better for counter attacking teams rather than teams trying to break down a defensive block. I think he will suit the A-League well, A-League and SPL are similar-ish in style. Fornaroli will enjoy the legs he has on the outside as he will offer plenty of movement into space, someone with an eye for a pass would make it a dangerous front 3.
  8. Honda a good signing on paper, but they gave lost some important players. Berisha a top A-League goal scorer and it will be hard to replace the goals and big game experience he has. Would like to see Jamie Maclaren back at Hibs, so hopefully he doesn't go there. Diego Castro type player coming off the left would be good foil for Fornaroli and MOH, MOH wont give you that type of creativity on the right. McGree looks to be a good signing, few more definitely needed.
  9. Did Arzani sign a new contract? There are rumours that his contract is about to expire and that we are trying to sign him on a free..
  10. Of course mate, it all contributes. Difference is that as soon as you turn up at the EPL party your ceiling is far higher, we couldn't get £50m for a winger if he scored 50 goals in 2018, Watford just got £50m for a winger that scored 0 in 2018. That's what we are dealing with here. Manchester City player sounds better than Melbourne City to these cashed up poms, as irrelevant as it sounds, and is, given your link.
  11. Once he has Manchester City on his CV his value immediately increases, unfortunately that's just the way football is. There is a ceiling for players outside the top leagues. Being seen as a worthwhile deal for Man City coupled with a successful 2 years at Celtic will make his value soar. In 2 years time, pending his performances, he will be a Manchester City player, with maybe 70+ games at Celtic, league titles, cups, Champions League experience and will be marketed as an experienced, talented youngster who has proven himself in Britain and just isn't quite ready to break into a world class Man City side. If, alternatively, you loaned him straight to Celtic, his value wouldn't be as much. Example being someone like van Dijk. We sold him for £13m +10% sell on, Southampton sold him for £75m. The potential monetary growth for a player affiliated with an EPL club is night and day.
  12. Rodgers has all but confirmed the interest on our behalf mate. Another thing to take into account is our chief execs son is employed by City in some capacity, this link is said to have laid the foundations for our dealings with City for Boyata, Roberts and Ntcham.
  13. Didn't catch much of City last season, you will need someone to play wide this season with no Kamau or potentially Arzani though? Would be looking at Wes Hoolahan as a CAM for the A-League, at the end of his career but was still playing with Ireland up until last year and played 33 times for Norwich in the Championship last year. Free transfer. Better players out there, but he would create loads if played to his strengths.
  14. Salford City signing Rooney is a moot point - It's easy to out bid teams when your majority owner is worth US$2.1 billion and you have 5 millionaire ex footballers chipping in. In contrast, Motherwell are a fan owned club... So aye, there's no relevance. Rodgers will be a big reason City are happy for him to come north. Patrick Roberts was a huge success and improved big time over his 2.5 year loan, Boyata came from City and has just started 3 games in Belgiums World Cup semi run, Oliver Ntcham has come from City and has developed into classy midfielder. Odsonne Edouard in on loan from PSG last season and they have just sold him to us for a club record fee. Dembele, Kristofer Ajer being coached into top players, Rogic coming on leaps and bounds, van Dijk learned his trade here and his now £75m player, Wanyama etc City trust us and I think with good reason, we have a decent track record.
