  1. Next season see's the FFA paying the cap, I hope the extra money this eleviates helps the club to be more proffesional in it's approach and succesfull in all areas.

Is the FFA paying our wage bill next season? Or every team's?

  2. Few things right on point from Scott Munn last night post match:

    • JA will be there next season.
    •
    • There were 5 objectives from the Board upon foundation:
    • 1) Financial stability
    • 2) Youth player promotion and development
    • 3) Training facility base at La Trobe
    • 4) NYL and W-League side
    • 5) Promotion of young and promising coaches
    •
    • The Board are also keen to get a marquee for the right price. But it was specifically stated that the Board would not and could not operate like Sydney FC at a $6 mill loss each year.

The spill of a board and/or key personnel would not help the club in anyway at all.

    Nothing about winning titles?

The aim of the board is to run a football club, not a football team.

Those in charge want a stable club, of course they want success, but at this stage, what good is a title if the club folds in 3 years because it over reached?

The titles come when there is stability at the top - and the original objectives have been met.

  3. I always try to take the long term view. I honestly would have preferred JvS stayed, but that is another issue, and with Aloisi in charge, you have to at least give him a second season to see what he does.

The problem is that we need results quickly, for off field reasons as much as on, because we don't have an established fan base.

If you bring in a new manager, firstly who? And secondly, will we not have to go through yet another season of adjustment?

  4. Well its been pretty much a year since I finished working with you, in that year

Spent about 9 months trying to lose fat but not really being committed to it so I didnt actually lose any fat but did lose some strength

Then had 1 month where I got committed, was in a rush, tried to have a 1.5k calorie a day deficit and lost about 7kg (obviously some water weight).

And then the last couple of months its hit a new low, barely any lifting and none in a few weeks (the longest I have gone without lifting since I started). Mainly due to being busy at work and not really being able to go to the gym during the day because of that and cbf going later in the day because its too packed.

Try rediscovering the pleasure of training. Detach yourself from the results. Just go in a lift and enjoy.

Run Jim Wendler's 5/3/1 - the Boring But Big template works wonders here. Just focus on going to the gym, doing the work and getting out and on with your life.

Eat real food, forget supplements (seriously, save your $ and spend on food) and just make things as simple as possible.

Get out and move everyday. Lift 3-4 times/week and live life.

Don't focus on getting big, or small or lean or whatever - just go in, train with purpose (to get stronger) and forget about the rest.

  5. You dont have to buy a new PC or Laptop with Windows 8 on it. You will be hard pressed to find a manufacturer that wont be giving the option of Windows 7 installed with Window 8 install DVD included. This is how it will be for the next 2 years at least, until a) M$ fix Win8 so that it is more workplace friendly or B) They learn the Vista lesson....again, and release something suitable.

So many computer retailers are clearing out windows 7 laptops on the cheap, and advertising the fuck out of the "if you buy this windows 7 laptop now you can upgrade to windows 8 for $15 (or whatever it is) when windows 8 comes out". So pretty sure it will be quite hard to get a laptop without windows 8 already installed, for personal users that is, once its out.

I guess you are right about business bazzatron, whoever is in charge of the IT stuff isnt going to recommend windows 8. Still doesnt really change anything, Microsoft will just sell more windows 7, while still getting windows 8 sales from personal users / idiots / touchscreen devices. At the end of the day w7 is a good OS and doesnt really have any competition as the OS of choice in the business world, no one is going to switch to mac or linux, unless they are an IT related company.

I hate these all-in-one PCs they have now, absolutely rubbish IMO, either get a real desktop or get a tablet if you want a touchscreen, but anyway, they are becoming more popular and windows 8 is made for that sort of stuff.

I just bought a new laptop - trying to find a windows 7 laptop is next to impossible - if you do find them, they are with 2nd generation intel processors.

I ended up getting a touchscreen laptop - because the usability is better with Win 8 - but for my budget ~$1100, it meant sacficing resolution on the screen.

The new Asus Zenbook Prime UX31A with touch looks the goods, but was stretching the budget too far.

Am yet to take delivery, but will update when I've had a play around with things.

Just a question Baz: is it shit from a l33t computer tech user POV, or is it shit because it is different and takes adapting to, or is it shit because the UI is not intuitive, and certain features are lacking?

  6. You khunts still lifting or what?

Been doing a bit of kettle bell work lately, actually. All inspired by a certain bald-headed canadian Adonis ;)

Haha nice one - that is my next purchase here in maple land - now that I have a place sorted, time for some lifting again.

  7. Most fans of clubs don't go to games.

What are the average AFL attendances, club by club?

Collingwood is probably the highest, and it boasts around 1,000,000 fans (if I remember correctly). That may or may not be true, but look at those numbers, and compare them to the attendance as a percentage.

I think the attendances reflect exactly where the club is at in terms of support.

Most people I know that are only casual sports fans - who would probably go to a game or two of AFL each year, still ask who the Heart is when I tell them.

We live in a bubble we have created - but it is easy to forget that most people don't care about soccer, at least enough to shell out time and money an effort to go to a game. Yet.

  8. Anyone know of any good gyms that aren't that Fit 'n' Fast crap that actually have decent weights available in the Eastern Suburbs? There used to be Spartan's in Kilsyth, but that has changed to your stock-standard Fitness First clone gym.

    Doherty's Dandenong?

  9. Tax free threshold increased to $18k. Is this real life?

Only particularly strong policy I found in the whole budget was letting small business offset current losses against previous profits, rather than future profits. Makes sense.

Yeah, but if the tax free threshold was indexed as it should, it would be higher than that anyway, we have been getting rorted for years. Also, windfall made up with carbon tax.

Left wing, socialist, right wing beliefs right here.

Power to the people, corporations , government.

  10. For sure. Name your time & date.

Tuesday afternoons or Thursday mornings are good, otherwise a weekend sesh?

When I trained at Doherty's they would often have the pros out and you'd see them train - I never saw Ronnie, but Melvin Anthony up close is awesome, along with Dexter and Troy Alves, just really good symmetry.
