I think you are pretty close. It does show that we have gone from having far to many wingers/wide forwards, to very few. That team will be decimated by by the departure of Behich and Good though.

----------------------Bolton---------------------

Marrone - Colosimo - Vrankovic - Behich

--------------Gerhardt - Thompson----------

-----------------------Fred-----------------------

--------Dugandzic - Tadic - Mebrahtu------

BENCH: Redmayne, Gray, Germano, Williams/Macallister

SUBS: Germano for Thompson; Williams for Mebrahtu (stays 4-3-3) or Macallister for Mebrahtu (moves to 4-4-2), Gray for Colosimo/Vrankovic

Yeah, I reckon to start with we'll see Colosimo and Gray as the centre-back pairing, with Vrankovic coming in a bit later.

Weak point seems to be left-wing. I reckon it's a toss-up between Golgol and Williams, and if a change needs to be made during a game IMO we'll move Tadic to the left and bring in Macallister in the centre.

I rate Germano better than Thompson.

Also, IMO Fred is not going to last the distance, either a game or the season.

Two or three signings still to make, and we're going to need them.

don't think we'll have a natural left winger in the squad like we do with dugandzic on the right wing. I think our best option is to have behich doing a lot of overlapping down the left with the makeshift left winger sitting a bit deeper, acting as more of a 4th midfielder/second AM (if we play with 2 DMs) and obviously covering left back when behich pushes forward.

And I think that's a big risk. Makes us very unidimensional. We're intending to go into the season with 20-21 players in the senior squad. Doesn't leave many options for a match squad of 15. I still think there are three in the squad who, based on past performances, are not really pressing for inclusion.

OR if JA plays a 4-4-2

I'd be a fan of the 4-2-3-1

---------------------Bolton-----------------------

Marrone---Vrankovic---Colosimo---Behich

-----------Gerhardt-----Germano-------------

----Dugandzic------Fred------Thompson----

-------------------Tadic---------------------------

Bench: Redmayne, Gray, Mcallister, Mebrahtu

(Except, would love to see Govas where Mebrahtu is)

2nd lineup is strong. Will wait till I've seen more of Gerhardt and Tadic, but I don't see that team wining the A-League? Something just seems missing...

It'll all come down to if Williams can regain form and if our internationals flop or not.

I reckon we go a 3-5-2, a lot like how Italy did at the Euros. Besides, I'm so sick of the 4-3-3!

---------------Bolton---------------

Gray Colosimo Vrankovic

Gerhardt

Germano

Marrone Behich

Fred

Dugandzic

Tadic

Dugandzic will almost play as a second striker to help Tadic (IMO Mate is alot better when he plays central) or he can drop into one of the wide areas to create space for Tadic. Germano will be our box to box midfielder which will leave Gerhardt in the DM role. We may be a little exposed defensively on the wings if Behich and Marrone get caught out but Gerhardt can always pull back and support Colosimo while Gray and Vrankovic push out to cover the wide areas. Of course were gonna need to recruit another defender as cover but we'll have Thompson on the bench who could come in if the one of the back 3 go down. Williams can be subbed in as a second striker which I think will suit him better than playing on the wing. This will allow Dugandzic to drop back into Fred's position when Fred is subbed off as I highly doubt he will be lasting 90 mins for most parts of the season.

like the midfield of Gerhardt, Germano, and Fred. - (like italy with Pirlo, Motta, and Montolivo -as you said)

TBH, with one defensive, one box to box, and one attacking, it offers balance.

Bolton

Marrone - Gerhardt - Collosimo - Behich

Thompson/Garcia

Fred ----- Garcia/Thompson

Mate --------- Tadic/Dmac -------- Willo

Bench: Redders, Vrankovic, Germano, Tadic/Dmac

Squad: Gray, Hoff, Golgol, Kalmar

Squad is really bursting with tallent, hard task for JA and the boys, great news for the fans.

That's true. And of course, there is this large assumption Aloisi will continue with 4-3-3.

Closed match v Northcote last night. I think that there would have been a fair bit of experiement as to formations and players in positions. The 4-3-3 may well become redundant for a 3-5-2 or 4-2-3-1 (which would be my preference). Then in the different formation, where do you play Garcia, and Germano, and Williams, and Thompson?

Del Solar - born 30th December 1992. Definitely Under-20 on 1st January 2012.

Poscoliero - born 11th April 1990. Does not qualify even if the rule remains Under-21 on 1st January 2012.

Groenewald - born 6th January 1991. Qualifies as Under-21 but not Under-20.

He still needs citizenship or permanent residency or whatever. But I'd be very happy if it happens. Then I think we can probably just grab the best available young guy we can find, whatever his position.

Edit: Beat me to it.

Bolton

Marrone - Gerhardt/Vrankovic - Colosimo - Behich

Germano ---- Thompson

Dugandzic------ Fred -------- Garcia

Tadic

Bench: Redders, Vrankovic/Gerhardt, Williams (Guerrero del Solar), Macallister

Squad: Gray, Hoff, Golgol, Kalmar (Groenwald and Guerrero del Solar)

This here is my ideal squad, and could do some serious damage this season. I'm relatively pleased with all our signings, but it all hinges on whether we can keep our squads older heads fit (Fred, Garcia, Colosimo). If these guys all play 9/10 games this year, I'm starting to feel a little excited for the season to start now.

That said, I'll reserve my judgement on our final position until I've seen Big Bad Josip Tadic play.

Glad I've got someone else jumping on the 4-2-3-1 formation!
