Tommykins
Absolutely love a 5pm kick off, lazy few beers and home on the couch for a proper night's sleep. We actually haven't won in a month so we really do need a result.

neio
Is this going to be a back 3, or are we shifting someone out to RB. Seems bloody odd when we have 2 RB on the bench of its the normal back 4 formation Edited February 4 by neio

IMO Nuno has been awesome at RB. Not quite as attacking as Talbot, but has virtually won everything, kept Arzani quiet and has been somewhat of an outlet

Wether it’s tactical or managing the minutes of Talbot, it works. Saying that Galloway could have played if Talbot had to be managed or had a knock.

NewConvert
That was a good game. Hard to fault the performance of any player. Glover did not have to do anything in the first half however I felt that Tilio could and should have done more considering the amount of ball he got. Someone has to tell him that he cannot take on three players as he doesn't have the build that Leckie does.
jw1739
Sad to see Arzani and Nooney reduced to playing for a pub team. I don't know how Macarthur even got one we were so dominant from start to finish. We could have had 10 if JMac had converted the penalty and done something with the two one-on-ones that he had, and probably 15 if we weren't so shot shy on the edge of the box. The subs were good. Talbot, Galloway and Jamo added plenty of push from behind, and Berenguer had one gorgeous through ball (one of the ones JMac made a mess of) and was putting his corners on a 5-cent piece. I was disappointed, though, with Rafa. He hasn't had many minutes and it showed. Overall a pretty complete showing. Well done lads. I was disappointed, though, with Rafa. He hasn't had many minutes and it showed. Overall a pretty complete showing. Well done lads. Attendance: 4,252 First, Macarthur did something that has not happened in four weeks - they did not park the bus in the first half, they did not have 8 players in the defensive box. They scored because they wanted to score, they came to play. The fact that they lack a good forward line or a midfield is what brought them undone. The lesson for the A-League is that if you are playing City, park the bus and hit them on the counter - if you don't they will score freely. Secondly, Berenguer took three corners for three goals. I don't recall seeing that before. Third, the doubts that people had about Arzani prior to his sojourn to Europe were writ large. He is lazy, this is the third game I have watched with Arzani playing and my thoughts were that he does not do defensive pressure at all and worse when defensive pressure is applied he sooks. Lam and Reis made sure that he felt the pressure and he lost his head and deservedly copped a yellow for lack of discipline. When he was subbed off, he was getting worse. Arzani likes to do pirouettes and other pretty things where he can take a bow in front of an adoring audience. That is not going to happen when playing in a professional league. Agreed on Noone. Finally, if City converted the better than 50-50 chances then we would have positive goal difference of around 100 by now.

neio
MacArthur have a massive midfield problem, and it showed against a team that can hold and move the ball. Hollman is ok but he can't do it all by himself, MBomwa or whatever his name is could be in the league worst 11 and they get no defensive help from their attacking 3. They are the one team that every time we play them I will be confident we can smack them, and it showed yesterday

Very concerning Not the most convenient kick-off time for quite a few people. Dinner etc. Also, the whole of the Frankston Line beyond Moorabbin had bus replacements. I took the train home to Moorabbin, and it was virtually empty, showing that almost no-one from further out had used PT to get to the match. Usually after a match the Frankston Line trains are pretty full. Macarthur are hardly the biggest drawcard in the league. When I last looked their home attendances were pitiful. I'd say that the people that turned up yesterday were the usual rusted-on Heart/City supporters, minus most of those who live in the south-east. jw1739
I'm in the queue to admit that I underestimated Rado. He has indeed given the lads freedom and it shows. While it's frustrating at times to see chances go begging, we dominated yesterday to such an extent that it was just a question of "how many?" Even in his first game against Sydney, the signs were there - we just can’t win them all and have dominated 90% of our games. Perhaps Rado isn’t even the best coach out there but for me it just confirms what some us have been saying all along about the previous coach. We have good resources and good players, and most coaches will do well with us result wise. But what I like the most is that we’ve become fun to watch again, the players visually love being out there. It reminds me a lot of the JVS times.
belaguttman
I've just returned to the ground after spending the evening on Cloud 9. Positives: We won well and won in style. A good hat trick from VDV Our defence was (mostly) solid. We played with freedom; this can only happen when everyone in the team understands their role It was good to see some of the bench players subbed on, like Raphael. Negatives: Bulls were overawed and retreated into themselves, it's hard to gauge our performance from this game other than to say that this is how we can play of the opponent sits deep, isn't organised, and doesn't press We missed a pen We conceded an easy goal, both quibbles given the result, but we want to improve We really need to start some succession planning, we are sure to lose both Bos and O'Neill next season, possibly Tilio as well

Very concerning I was talking to my wife about this during the match and it occurred to me that last season was the first season we didn't sign up as members since season 1. Have not been contacted by the club once to try and get us back on board. Perhaps if we were approached we might have been swayed but radio silence on their end.
