One good thing we did under PK was the long diagonal ball (at times). There are times now when it would be more helpful, the neat triangles look good but slow the ball speed and impair us in transition when we aren't good enough to break down organised teams. Like everything, it's about timing, the one thing missing from our game is unpredictability and flexibility. This issue was really apparent in the women's game last night when our ball speed was far too slow and we struggled to break down Glory Women.

We didn’t do much with the long balls, mostly to Nabout who had a tidy control only then to cross behind the goals. Long balls to JMAC were also pointless as he doesn’t have the body and close control to keep it with him.

I rather see triangles on the edge of the box than skipping midfield with long balls.

What I agree with, is the right mix between long balls and tidy field play that bring unpredictability.

Long balls to players with good control, like Leckie or Tilio

I’m confused a little, you prefer skip midfield and hoofball? We actually did use the cross pass a couple of times to Tilio, was difficult for him with the sun in his eyes.

But of course variation is key.

Pin point longs are difficult in this league as it requires a good passer and controlling player potentially under pressure. We see it go wrong more often then not, resulting in turnovers. Particularly in the first half, we smashed them in possession mainly because we did not opt for that risky long ball.

Under PK we predominantly went from LCB (Good) to RW (Nabout), it was a training drill tactic - in the ACL that was all what we did and became very one dimensional.
