toogood18
Shit Glenferrie is now as bad as Victoria Park was about 5-10 years ago. It's a real shame these clubs let these places go to rot, typical of AFL clubs these days, ditching their heritage and trying to create history. In many ways most former VFL clubs are more respectful of some parts of their clubs history than many Soccer clubs.
Woody
Love it how they let the Suburban grounds age. Allows people to remember them tangibly, but also with a distinct reminder that they are certainly in the past. But then again that's just me being romantic. Braveheart
Prefer for my team to still be playing at its own home ground myself Come on mate, you can't honestly claim that we wouldn't prefer it either. Not that you don't deserve it but the over $50m in government funding to bring the place up to standard would have kept most of us in our suburban grounds in some capacity. And that u would also like to have stayed at WO: But for the record a poster named Synth once argued passionately on the former YSIDE Forum how his Dons Domed Home Ground was the greatest in the country and a 1000 times better than playing their homes games at a suburban ground like WH or KP. But we only got to the point of getting Govt Assistance after Brian Cook did so well at managing the ground to keep it viable in the first place. (This being the man football commentator D’Roy says is less of a big name than Scott Munn.) Also any quick glance at the future of growth in greater Barwon Region shows that the ground def deserves to be upgraded if not now but for the future. Woody
I've always compared it to the Apples and Oranges scenario. Both fruit, but from different trees. I'd give quite a bit to see the 'Sangas' play at 'Moerab' still as it would be extraordinarily easy for me and a majority of our member base, but it doesn't mean as much to me as a I never wet to appetite for Suburban footy so to speak. Geelong is completely different, but you can't begrudge the club or fans. It's just a different situation. Stating the bleeding obvious, but whatever. ToonHeart
Not sure if it has been posted but here is a shot of BC Place Stadium, home to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Post the Winter Olympics it is now host to the new MLS side the Vancouver Whitecaps. When football is being played, the capacity is 21,000. It also features a retractable roof.
