Disagree strongly with this.

The last game we played against them from memory we might not of started off well but I remember we came home like the tide and were not lucky to win. Both teams are evenly balanced imo, the keys to success come down to the following:

-The midfield (more specifically frenchy). If frenchy can offer us something more then he did on sunday, and not get nullified by kilkenny, its going to make our attack so much more diverse. It'll also stop us having to always overly on our wingers so much

-Stopping connor paine: Lachie wales is still a pretty meh playing to me, but paine is the real danger. He's lightning quick and his service while still not perfect, has gotten much better. Whoever is marking him (I assume jamo) really needs to be all over him and not give him any time or space on the ball

-Scoring first and early: We really need Jmac or one of our other wingers to pull their finger out and score early on. Western will look to do the same and then just sit back for the rest of the game. They are more then capable of defending a 1-0 lead as shown throughout most of this season so we really need to be sharp and score when we are given a great chance.

THE WILDCARD: CARL JENKISON FORWARD RUNS: As we know are system relys on overlapping fullbacks and even though most teams pick up the jamo and leckie, nabbout and jenkinson don't seem to have that same synergy. Often nabbouts wing its him running at one, two defenders but the time jenkison comes forward and overlaps, more times then not he is wide open to deliver a cross into the box. If he can do one of those overlapping runs and deliver a peach of a ball in, thats our first goal right there.

Its a very winnable game but yes, it's going to be tight!

Agreed we were the better side for the last 30 minutes against western the last time we played them. Came from 2 down if I recall and should have gotten ourselves a winner.

The first 2 games we conceded early and weren't able to break them down so I agree, first goal is crucial.

The other thing we need to remember is at the start of the season, our defence was leaking goals left right and centre. We have tightened up significantly since then. Our back 4 are in great form and I think this will make a huge difference compared to the earlier games against WU this season

Also the only 2 Melbourne teams.

Looking around for First Touch tickets but not seen on Ticketek. Are there any left?

I didn't see any reference to City membership categories whatsoever. As far as I can see there is no connection. For these finals series tickets you pay for where you decide to sit.

I spoke to the club yesterday and they said all memberships pre-sale tickets fir seats on the wing are allocated to the east side of the stadium.

I suspect this is fir the cameras and I also suspect first touch (and the other wing) will open up when the general public window opens.

Heard there's been 10k sold so far...

The capacity of Level 1 is about 15,000. I'm afraid I don't trust Ticketek when they show whole sections as unavailable. If 10,000 have been sold then there should be seats almost everywhere.

Are you trying to say you believe there has been more than 10k sold or that Ticktetek is just shit and not easy to use?

I think they release section by section. (I don't find it easy to use, but that's probably just me and my age...)

So i used to be an active member before I moved to Canberra. But I am coming down to Melbourne for the final. I selected melb city active support and got bay 15. I thought bay 16-18 were the active areas? Or has it been changed/extended for finals?

Also for the march, is it still the imp that we start from or has that changed?

Top deck has just opened up. Looks like theres not heaps available from the North cornerflags back now.

You would imagine they would open top deck when the bottom section has sold at least 85-90% of tix?

Yeah I have barely used the site until the finals, but I agree it could be easier to use for sure.

What about City class on the East side level 1?

Just thinking ahead to the game, and apologies if you wanted, sausage, PAX or march schedule chat.

Arguably our 3 most important players will be hungry for a win. Not that the others won't but all 3, Maclaren, Good and Metcalfe all missed out last season.

Metcalfe in particular probably won't get another chance for many years if at all.

Being our spine so to speak I'm thinking all 3 will be exceptional.

I think add Jenko and Leckie to that as well. Both have spent long periods of time in the wilderness and will be hungry for that success.

True, thats 5 starting senior players that would be busting for a win.

I wonder why there is so much secrecy about how many tickets have been sold and what is still available. Before COVID (B.C.) I occasionally went to concerts and shows at theatres, and there, when you were looking at your various booking options you could see precisely what seats had been sold and what were still available all over the theatre at every scheduled performance.

Dare say Geelong will probably sell 2-3k whilst City will have 11-15k

I'm so fucking pumped for this one. It's a shame all the talk is centred around how poor the crowd will inevitably be when in reality, we've got two Victorian clubs who have been the best all season in the Grand Final for the first time.

Likewise, it's also baffling/trivialising how much publicity the A-League All-Stars vs Barcelona exhibition has received in direct contrast to the Grand Final, and from the official A-League accounts no less. You'd hope they bombard viewers with advertising that promotes the Grand Final, otherwise you'd have to question the FA's scheduling and priorities.

I am glad you are pumped up! However I fee like there has been no hype/excitement leading into this final and I currently feel very Meh at the moment. Of course that will all change come Saturday when cheering on the CIty boys especially if we win it!

I agree. FFA and APL should be promoting the local football scene over and above everything else.

This season Melbourne is the home of the top three clubs in our senior league and that's where the focus should be.

If Barca are down in Australia playing an exhibition match against an A League all star rep team, then if the FFA had half a fkn brain, they'd surely invite the Barca team as guests of honour to the Grand Final.

What a win/win that would be.

Oh fk, it's not in Sydney though - my bad.

Yes. Walk around the ground at HT, do a few tricks and ball juggling, sign a few autographs,  pose for photos with the crowd, give away a few signed jerseys and balls etc. etc.. People would go to the GF just to see them and try and get a memento.

According to the stadium map on Ticketek there are still some seats available at the Southern End in Bay 16 (Active) and Bays 12, 13, and 21.

Although the latter three bays are in the corners, Bay 13 is actually pretty good, and cheap. I've been there a couple of times, notably for the first Women's GF (Fishlock, Little etc.) and there's absolutely nothing wrong with the view at all.

Level 3 West doesn't appear to be available yet, so unless there's a late surge in sales I think we're looking at a sub-20,000 crowd.

We'll get 15-20k imo

Real poor crowd if that does eventuate.

It will be slightly more than last years GF. I don’t see a reason why it would be near or over 20k. The appetite for the league is at an all time low.

You do make a good point there given the league as a whole has had attendances drop on average. Unfortunately we are also both not strongly supported anyway and don't usually attract any large crowds.

IMO ticket sales point to it being pretty close to the 20k mark at the moment, and if theres a late run on l2 tickets who know where it ends up.

FWIW the official capacity of level 2 is 9,983, so by inference a sold out level 1 should get you pretty close to 20k with all the corporates full; which they will be for a GF.

For context, our best non-derby attendance to date is 18,751 for the 2016 FFA Cup Final, and WU's is 6,888 (being their first game)

I think you mean L3 there. L2 is the corporate boxes on the West Side and the small seating area just above L1 on the East Side.
