There may be a difference, but a contract is a contract, and a player is bound to his club only for the length of his contract. And as far as I am aware there is nothing preventing him from signing a contract with another club for the following season and completing his contract at his existing club. Andrew Redmayne did exactly that when he signed with us for the following season whilst still playing for Brisbane.

So there is no transfer fee involved in either case. Transfer fees apply only when  the player wants to leave while he is still under contract.

or agrees to leave.

Presumably, we didn't keep him because the last demanded someone who was a starter. We rarely had the full 90 minutes last season. It's a shame though

Yeah that may have been the case, however at least to come off the bench would have been very handy.

I'm assuming he left because he wanted a starting role, rather than a bench role

Of course we wouldn't be discussing this trivia if we had something tangible to talk about, and that will occur only  if the Club actually pumped out some information and newsy stuff about the men's squad instead of women and and its latest commercial partner...

We've signed Andreas Kuen on a 2 yr deal. Know nothing about him but decent CV as a regular in Greek Super League and Austrian Bundesliga last few years.

Could be useful or could be another Jeggo...

I'm thinking of automatically suspending anyone who depresses me any further about our prospects for the coming season...

Good signing by Sydney. I suppose he was automatically disqualified by City in that he'd never heard of Adelaide...Not surprising really. I remember Greek singer Melina Mercouri saying "I went to Adelaide once. But it was closed."

What does Adelaide prove?

That Tasmanians can swim.

  • 2 weeks later...

We're in for the poverty season: a team of youngsters, and minimal investment. If any of the youngsters do well, they will be sold and we'll lose them. We are beginning a rebuild cycle after a wasted season last season, so 2-3 years before we get good results

Big name marquees aren’t part of the strategy.

Petrillo confirms that City will announce the signing of a 28-year-old player within the next week, with the possibility of an additional signing as well.

It's not whether a big name player is coming to City the issue. City have had visa players of much lower profile arrive but they came from better leagues and were of a suitable age. So far, we have an ageing squad and the visa players announced so far have been underwhelming - an Argentinian playing in Siberia, a 36 year old. Nah.

Interesting Petrillo talked about lowering age profile of the squad was the main aim of the offseason that’s why all signings have been under 30 and two new ones as well
