The intensity tonight was the best total 90mins I can remember us playing. At 80 mins I was convinced we would drop off and cough up a soft one, but to my surprise the boys lifted and actually pushed harder and regardless of whatever decisions were made or not at the end we deserved the win. Great win! The entire squad need to be congratulated on effort and desire. If we play like that week in week out I couldn't give 2 fucks if we win or not just show me you care. They were immense tonight, we made those cockeaters look second rate and by seasons end they'll probably win it. Truly pumped and sorry about some of he language.

Their "goal" was offside when played.

Chapman shaky early but the one thing that was clearly different was his closing speed - he's lightning quick and changes the back four immensely. Garruccio not a natural LB obviously, but also quick and a better motor than Ramsay. Still our weakness and Barbarouses had his measure clearly, but to his credit he persisted. Tando take a bow and Mooy and Melling showed the grunt and mongrel we've been missing since Sroj - and have the advantage of having class! Koren clearly underdone and Williams and Ramsay usual lol moments. Good goal from Paartalu but I'm concerned at times how far forward he pushes in general play - needs to be organised a bit better with Melling especially not wise to covering quite yet. He'll learn. Lucky not to be sent off too and wouldn't be surprised if the video review results in punishment - as said above a good ref would have stopped the problem earlier but that won't help him.

We were the better team I thought but it could have gone either way. Take the Christmas present early! And loved Berisha's yellow after the final whistle. He is a competitor but showed a distinct lack of class at the end which consistently lets him down.

did Mauk come on?

Yes, came on late How did he look? been missing this bloke all season

Can't remember if he came on before or after the winner, either way I was too focused to pay attention. Nerve wracking last few minutes.

Pretty sure it was just before. I didn't notice him at all, but he only got, like, three minutes

I know that Melling incident should have been a red card, but that's one aspect that I hate about the sport (and other sports for that matter). If you're hanging on, and hanging on and continue to hang on after the whistle has gone, like Broxham did, frankly I think you deserve whatever you cop.

I liked what Velaphi, Chapman and Garuccio are doing in defence. It's fair enough to say that Velaphi didn't really have to do much for his clean sheet against Brisbane, but tonight he deserved it, 100%. Exciting that within a couple of games we're going to have Koren, Duff and Kennedy to bring into this starting lineup.

It was a brilliant win, all things considered and I hope the past fortnight has started to build a bit of belief among the playing group. We have every right to celebrate these three points and the players should too. But they've got to be back to work and switched on tomorrow. We need something out of the Boxing Day game.

That performance has left me in a state of shock. I literally can't explain how I feel about this win.

They just showed us they care. They showed us that they didn't want to be embarrassed again.

As a side note, the active support was incredible. I know that scum can be louder with their copy and pasted plastic supporters spewing shit from their mouths. But tonight's atmosphere on our end was fan-fucking - wait for it - tastic. I'd like more help from my fellow GA members so I don't walk away without a voice, so instead I'll be upgrading to active area ASAP.

Dead set the most fun I've ever had at a game. I have missed this so much! Terrace was great tonight, haven't been in there for a while so forgot how many sik kunt ultraz there are but after about 20 minutes they get bored of chanting and leave so all good. Capo did a top notch job as did everyone around us. As for the game, wow. What a match! Did not see that coming at all! Somebody asked my prediction before the game and I said a 4-0 loss. We looked like a completely new team tonight. Somebody must have finally shot a rocket up them because they looked hungry and angry as hell!

Tando - The king. Has actually been sitting on the bench so long that he has forgotten how to concede. Was fantastic tonight, and commanded his area like a general.

Hoff - not his best night, but with the season he's having I'll forgive him. Still wasn't too bad.

Kisnorbo - best game for this club. Hands down. Was a brick wall tonight, shut Berisha out of the game with ease. Good to see him yelling and commanding tonight like a captain as well.

Chapman - my man of the match tonight. Was simply faultless. This kid is something special, has a big future ahead of him. Not looking forward to seeing him move to the Premier League and sit on the bench like Curtis Good though.

Garuccio - Killed it tonight. I swear this kid is a derby specialist. Showed that he should definitely be first choice LB ahead of Ramsay, but still needs some work on the defensive side of his game if he wants to pursue the position going forward.

Eric the red - He could come round to my house, kill my entire family and shit in my shoes and I would still kiss him for that goal.

Melling - I absolutely love this kid. Has so much mongrel and fight, can tackle like a born defender and knows how to throw an elbow and not get sent off. Second best on field for me.

Mooy - Yet another incredible game from this guy. Best non-marquee signing in A League history?

Ramsay - prefer him on the wing to defence, but still not great. I hope it's just a confidence thing after being fucked over at LB.

Williams - Rivalling Mifsud for offsides... wasn't great again.

Dugandzic - played really well tonight, made himself a pest to the defence all night and his assist for Paartalu's goal was beautiful. Needs to fucking shoot when open though.

Brown - Forgot he was there tbh

Koren - He survived, that's what matters. Looked good for somebody obviously not ready to be back. Almost won it at the end as well.

Mauk - no real chance to have an impact

Had work tonight and missed out on going and had this gut feeling all week we'd win. So fkn happy!! A win over these cunts feels so good and especially after the season that we've had so far this means so much and the feeling is great. We've copped so much shit from everyone and to go out and win this game just shows grat character from the boys!!

Go the fkn heart ;)!!

I am just happy that the team looked like they cared. It has been a long time since I have been able to say that.

I thought that Chapman was best on ground with Mooy a close second, and Koren had some nice touches, as well as surviving, which is always nice. Terrace was electric, especially in the last few minutes. We just need to keep this intensity up, especially against Perth, who we have a history of sucking against.

Chapman was just fucking immense, his passion was so infectious and refreshing to see. An absolute gem.

Paddy K, Garuccio and Tando - fantastic defensive effort too. Our defence is not looking so bad all of a sudden!

Melling, Mooy and Paartalu, very good.

Definitely the most fun I've had at a game, too. Terrace was nuts towards the end.

Keep this up week in, week out, and this club might just reach its potential!

I've been critical of the players and how they haven't been accountable for a few weeks.

So major credit to them because they were fukn brilliant last night.

Massive effort from all involved, especially after the debacle in NZ.

So proud of them and of all of us as supporters too. Yarra end was buzzing as one last night - just fukn awesome!

Just a note of caution, we've seen every Heart team lift for derbies (apart from the last one) even in the darkest Aloisi days. I really need to see this level of determination and intensity every game, every week before I believe that we are improving. The derby should not be a performance high-water mark for the team.

Waking up today with the Christmas Derby under the belt feels fucking amazing

What a night, it had it all, probably the most fun I've had at any sporting event ever. Terrace was the best it's been all year, we were loud, proud and sang for the full 90. Entire stadium belting out We are Melbourne We are City after King Erik scored gave me goosebumps.

They looked a totally different team last night, they cared and played from their Heart!

Tando & Chapman pumping the crowd up after killing a Tard ball was fucking priceless.

Well done lads!

WE ARE MELBOURNE.

Agreed. We should be moving on and focusing on Perth. Like, right now. Because it's all for nothing if we don't grab at least a point against the Glory. And a while ago, I would have been looking at all the games before the break as a block and saying we should aim for seven points in the next three and stuff like that, but I refuse to do that now. Learnt that lesson the hard way.

As far as I'm concerned, the time when this team has traditionally been capable of the most disappointing, inept, woeful lapses is right here: when we've just started feeling good about them and we're thinking 'Well, if we get two wins and a draw out of the next three (or something similar), we might even be able to start pushing for a home final when the league resumes'. And that's when we'll cough up two goals to ****ing Central Coast in the last ten minutes at home.

I loved what the boys showed last night. But I'm still a long, long, long way from being able to trust them. Been burnt too many times.

Brilliant win and JVS got his gameplan right on the night

It actually was a poor standard game.  It ws always going to be against Victory.  Lots of mistakes, stop-start, fouling, stupid decision-making.  In other words a standard Victory game under Muscat.

I've said it all season, they rely on stopping the opposition by using physicality.  They play thugball.  Even their own fans are starting to see it.

Except last night JVS out-thugged Muscat.  Melling "The Animal' Mooy and Paartalu simply out -monstered their midfield.

Whilst I enjoyed the extra physicality, and whilst you can get away with it in this shitty league with our refs, going forward I want to see controlled aggression from us.  Leave the fightball to Muscat.
