Mid December game, past few years we have had Sydney FC Away at this time of year, and we usually get a good turnout. The week before the Xmas Derby. 2 big games in the Space of 7 days for the lads.

Saturday Dec 13th

KO: 5pm Pirtek Stadium

Have found Flights: $135 Return with Tiger

Dep Mel: 6.45am Sat 13th
Return Sun 14th
Syd 21.45
Arrive Mel 23.20

OR
$162 Return with Virgin
Dep Mel: 7am Sat 13th
Return Sun 14th
Syd: 19.00
Arrive Mel 20.35

Very Cheap IMO.

Will be good to see what the fuss about this mob is.

date will be changed for sure

has to be WSW cant be in two places at once.

would suspect this game will be pushed back to December 23/24 or the 3rd / 4th in Feb (Tuesday / Wednesday combo).

they have to do the same for the WSW v Roar game the next week too (Dec 20th), so i'd expect those the December and February dates will be used with one game each.

would be funny if we got the Feb date since we play WSW at home on the 1st of Feb.  that said, it makes the most sense; we have the derby the following Saturday so we would only have to fly once during that period, while WSW have Wellington at home the following Sunday.

hence, both teams would only have one flight / away trip booked in during a week that both would be forced to play 3 games in 7 days with a midweek catch up game.

plus it means the FFA can just push the WSW v Roar game a couple of days to accommodate WSW making either the 1st v 2nd or 3rd v 4th playoff at the World Club Cup (which both games are played on the 20th of December - thus why the Roar game is affected too).

So on a level on from 1 - 10?

1 - light, friendly banter, safe family environment.

3 - the odd expletive thrown your direction,

7 - memorising nearest exits and location of security staff at all times. going to the bar is becoming somewhat of a mission as unruly home fans are eying you off and promising to harm you and family members.

10 - full thickness burn from flares, physically assaulted and require police escort out of Stabramatta.

From those who have ventured out to the wild west, how was the experience as an away supporter?

Interesting to say the least.

Did not feel in danger once...

would say in the 4-5 range.  felt safe enough, although it was quick funny when the people in the Heart bay went to leave.  there were about 10 coppers safe guarding around 6 fans.  thought it was all quick amusing.

mind you, i should probably qualify it that it was the game last year when we scored early from a cross (Williams i think) only to go on to draw it 1-1.  we were giving the non active end of the WSW fans (since the away bay is located at a corner at the opposite end to the RBB) for most of the game.  most WSW fans were ok with it all (they actually seemed to find it funny) but there were a few WSW fans a bit shitty.  hence, the coppers were quick obliging to help us out since they thought it could get a bit messy (the coppers in WSW games have probably seen a bit in the past so ...)

in any case it certainly wasnt the most hostile away game i've been to.

as sheepdog rightly points out tho, treat it as a 7 or so; only takes one dimwit to screw up your trip.

The kick off time for this has been changed today. It will now be played next March lol, hope no one booked flights. All to suit the wanderers world club cup, what a joke

These things happen all the time in european football. Anyway, it's a good thing for us. By March we should have both marquees fit and firing.
