This is becoming as much of a mishandled farce as David Villa.

It already has.

From what ive read is that they thought it was a minor 1 week injury so he waited a week and started training again turns out that was too early, he started training again, and has now torn the muscle

Should have kept Engelaar

Duffs money was engelaars, he didn't want to stay with having young kids. Club and supporters wanted to keep him.

But he would probably have stayed as marquee.  The problem from his point of view is we offered him a 50% pay cut, becasue "we wanted to sign a better marquee".  Add that to the long list of off field stuff ups since April last year.

Davutovic was adamant when asked on his blog that Koren is going to have a much bigger impact than Engelaar. So he has alot to live up to. But im just happy to see him out there, villa was ok but this guy is our marquee. From the highlights ive seen he loves a late run into the box and how many times have we seen a cutback by us to noone because noone was making those late runs.

I wassnt looking forward to this game much because we probably will be smashed but now im excited just to see Koren play.

I also wouldn't be suprised to see paartalu be replaced by melling either for this game

I reckon he'll be right to play 25 mins, then hopefully 35-45 mins on boxing day. He has been on track to play in this game throughout his recovery period, I don't see him coming off the bench as a desperate move.

I think the current top 5 will play finals and that 6th spot is the only one up for grabs. We need a minimum 3 points from the next two games.

You have to leave these things to the club's specialists and the player concerned. Last season I thought Engelaar came back too early, but in fact the club got that one right. Koren is an experienced player - he ought to know whether he's right to play or not. We shouldn't be overly-influenced by the Germano saga - he's unfortunately injury-prone and IMO it wouldn't matter who was looking after him, he's just not suitable to be a professional footballer.

Are we talking about the same specialists that gave the go ahead for Grella?

Yeah good point, Engelaar turned out ok. He did play a youth game though, from memory. Koren might be fine for all the cynics know. But to put him straight in the first team, without a lead-in match, so close to a month-long break, seems a little risky, given our history of players reinjuring themselves.

Not sure that we are cynics its just that we are plain scared. Murphy's Law, Germano and others do tend to make a pessimist of me. After all we do follow Heart/City.

Given that a few of the players have suffered soft-tissue injuries lately, I suspect that Koren was thoroughly examined and proved (beyond reasonable doubt) that he was fit to play.

He'd have been subjected to a robust examination.

I doubt City would risk him (a marquee) unnecessarily.

He should be ready.

Well didn't over do it when he came on but showed a few nice touches. Nice reverse pass into Ramsay on the left, which the commentators seemed to miss as they were going on about him not touching the ball after that.

Hopefully gets a full week's training in and then have another spell from the bench.

Got a great reception of the bench. This bloke has huge expectations to carry. Looked comfortable on the ball and great touch be interesting to see once fit where and with who the midfield will set up. Mooy alongside Melling was a good combination with Partaalu behind. Good problem to have.

I'd hate to say it but Melling had to come off. He was too fired up and risked getting a red. Lucky to avoid a red in the first place really.

Agreed. I was hoping they'd sub Melling off. We all love what he's been doing since he got a go, but he's a yellow card waiting to happen at all times.
