People keep asking why I keep randomly smile, so now they think I'm some kind of sex offender :/ But i really don't care, cos the next chapter in the Heart's (yes I will always call them hearts, change the offical name that's fine) history is going to be bonkers. I say thisSay the same amount of $$ was offered for the best 23 year old in the country, he is out of contract as you can only sign australians on frees...but who is he going to choose,- the one that has the best facilities in the league by miles (soon to be Ferran Soriano said its #1) - the one with a link to the EPL - the one that holds training camps in england in the off season - the one that could participate in practice torunements in dubai with city and new york - the one with the best backroom staff in the league - the one best coachesThen if you are a young 16 year old at that age you are looking to get into the youth teams, 1 team for every a league team, and the best is probably melbourne victory in melbourne - who are they gonna come to now... the one with the best academy you could imagine

alex_terra_11
LOVING the Man City fans finding our forum and giving us some insight. Truely global game isn't it. That Aguero winner takes on a different meaning for me now. I don't know how well known this video is or whether it has been posted in this thread already, but it encapsulates totally what that Aguero winner meant to us. BTW, if not already seen, check out the Bluemoon forum! Amazing video to watch, especially with the old bloke who followed the club for 75 years. I was watching the game here at 3am and even though I'm a Chelsea supporter, I was thoroughly pleased that City won it

ton1no
I woke up singing blue moon and had to pinch myself to realise that yesterday was not a dream.. WE ARE FUCKING CITY, WE ARE FUCKING CITY, LETS GO FUCKING MENTAL, WE ARE FUCKING CITY still so soo happy With your Isco pic in your signature, I'm not sure if you followed the Isco saga over summer but we had well over 1000 pages (spread over a few threads as they kept having to be restarted) on Isco over on our Bluemoon forums (mostly people losing their insanity and posting cat gifs) hoping we were gonna clinch his signature - was a right roller coaster transfer saga, we basically had him in the bag until Zidane got involved. If any of you are interested in our forums (http://forums.bluemoon-mcfc.co.uk) you will be welcome to join just like you've all been very welcoming on here to us. I think it's probably, mostly a regional thing to Manchester/the NW of England due to the miserable skies but we as City fans always have to moan about something but nowadays with every thing going so right, you might wonder why we are moaning over how to receive free pies at the game and similar meaningless things - just to give you a heads up it's because we were so used to moaning but now there isn't really anything football related to moan about! By the way if some of you haven't realised, you'll now have over 48,000 City fans taking an interest in your club (which is quite an improvement from your 7000 or so fans at the moment). To quote our official site (www.mcfc.co.uk) we have 8,610,435 FB Likes, 1,443,499 Twitter followers and 2,929,043 Google Plus Ones and of course football fans world wide will also take an interest in this so I don't think it'd be unfair to say your the most well known Australian football club right now. Hey mate, Thanks for acknowledging the genius that is ISCO. Must add that i am an extreme Real Madrid Fanatic... Would paint the town white if i could, would fight and die for Real Madrid ( as being from spain, Madrid adds to the equation). I had followed the ISCO saga and have kept an eye on ISCO for atleast a year into his Malaga contract boasting to my friends how good he is. I could kill the scums of Arsenal for having Ozil but thats business, what can i say. Based on our relationship, i kind of feel obliged to support City considering you guys are saving us from drowning. I could not be any happier that out of all the clubs to be affiliated with, it was yours. Your City, Our City Our Manchester, Your Melbourne Happy to forget the Real v City differences and concentrate on growing together as a mob. Melbournehammer
I must confess to being obscenely pleased with this development. I joined Melbourne heart because it was the "anti" Muscat club. And while that still keeps me warm at night the football was dire many times. I can only really think of that six-ten game stretch when madaschi was playing for us as a period where we actually looked like a team that would be able to compete week in week out. I liked being the little brother of the big V team. we consistently outplayed them and won those games and that week was often worth the terrible football at home to the likes of glory or phoenix. But I am now absolutely in the space of liking it even more if we were able to shove some real football under their noses and become as established and financially secure. Popular Post Falastur
Hey all. Another City fan poking his head in having read this thread from the very start (well, I might have skipped ahead a bit until it became more relevant to City...) Sorry, it's a wall of text incoming. Walls of text are about the only way I know how to communicate on forums :/ Very interesting reading this thread. I have to admit that I've been pleasantly surprised by the joy I've witnessed here. It gives me a warm feeling inside. I'm so used to clueless (English) fans and two-bit journalists spewing nonsense after having clearly paid no attention to the actual facts that it's brilliant to finally see a whole supporter base focus on the correct aspects - that Mansour is a very hands-off owner, and his representatives on our board want to respect history while re-writing the future, rather than the reverse. For your sakes, though I despise a certain type of red shirt, I really hope that you keep your colours, and I feel confident that if you make your voices heard when opinions are sought, that this will be respected. As many have suggested, a blue away kit could be a compromise I'm sure. Mansour, Khaldoon (Mansour's Emirati Chairman and Voice-on-the-Board) and Soriano haven't done anything to make me think that they're the type to break eggshells when it can be avoided. On the subject of kits, kudos to my fellow City fan a page back or so, who quoted the Wikipedia article on City's kit history, which I co-wrote (and I made most of the little kit graphics too). Always nice to get a little love for what you do. I will most definitely be trying to catch some Heart games over the internet (although it's going to be hard, given what time the kick-offs will be here) but right now I'm at least as interested in a few off-field possibilities. For a start, I suspect you'll be getting a brand spanking new website shortly. When we launched our MLS club a few months ago, we launched a website for them on the very same day, although there are obvious differences - that website has been fairly quiet as NYCFC hasn't really had any daily news to post, whereas yours would obviously need to be busy from its first day, so maybe City will be recruiting a web team first. This is one of the major assets that Mansour's men have put in place for City - the community outreach through over the internet. In 2009 they completely revamped our website, and since then social media and internet-based community activity has only gone from strength to strength. We signed a multi-million pound deal with the TV company that produced Big Brother (yeah, I know) to create a weekly fly-on-the-wall video series showing players training and mucking around, community events, interviews, the odd other detail etc, and they're frequently cited over here as the perfect example of how a team should build interest from its fan base - the videos on YouTube are frequently filled with comments from fans of other teams saying "I hate your club, but I love your channel". I'm really hoping that this is part of the plan for Melbourne, and for NYC too. The website posts full 10-15 minute long highlight videos of every match we play (even the friendlies), pre- and post-match interviews, featurettes on promising academy players...oh, and TunnelCam, where they record everything that happens in the tunnel before and after every home match, giving you more exposure to just what a player's life is like on match day. The kitmen are currently getting some love this week with a series of "Day in the life of" videos about them. Everything about the YouTube channel is pure class and I am really, really hoping that the plan is to roll out something similar for you and for NYCFC. You can probably expect a lot more activity from the Facebook and Twitter accounts once things kick into gear, too. I'll be very interested to see what happens to the team this summer, too. I'd expect that signing the three Designated Players will be a priority, and a squad overhaul is I guess to be expected, although since your rules enforce a certain amount of Aussies maybe there will be more continuity at first than you'd expect. A lot of you have quoted that we have 36 full-time scouts (and many more part-timers) but what wasn't mentioned here is that this factoid actually first came to light two weeks ago, when NYCFC unveiled their first manager. The stat was followed up with the information that most of them are now based in South America, and that is becoming reflected by the number of Hispanic players who are finding their way into our academy side. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Heart filled in their 5 "visa players" with a number of promising young South Americans recruited from one of the several top-level leagues over there and willing to sign for a salary within the wage cap. Of course, that's just speculation. In the longer-term, I'm really looking forward to news of your new academy, which Ferran Soriano seems to have pretty much confirmed is going to happen. Our new one, due to open in summer, cost somewhere between £100-150m. Admittedly yours may not be that expensive, but...our board doesn't mess around with this stuff. It's really exciting to think of what level of kids you could produce in your own academy, let alone ours. Oh, and on the subject of players - when City signed the deal to create NYCFC, it was followed by announcing former City and US national captain and MLS star Claudio Reyna as Director of Football. I wonder if there's any chance of getting Simon Colosimo into the backroom staff? I think he's the only connection between our clubs at present, unless anyone can correct me? It may take 5 years for the real flowers of this arrangement to bud, but I'm really excited to see it happen. As it happens, one of my uncles emigrated to Sydney a couple of years ago, though he commutes to Melbourne for his job every so often. Maybe I can find a chance to visit him for the first time, and...purely accidentally, of course...stop by a Heart game in future? I certainly hope so anyway. I wonder what sort kd press this is getting over there. Curious to know how our new blue forum members found out the news. Any links or articles from over there that don't come up on our radar. Appreciate you all taking the time and calming our fears No-one seemed to have responded to this so I thought I'd take the time. The news over here wasn't back-page stuff but it was pretty big. Every national newspaper and media outlet had the story up on their websites within half an hour, although most of the stories were, shall we say, broadly similar to each other in paragraph content. That said, it was announced pretty late our-time. By the following day, a number of websites had rehashed the story with a bit more detail - quite a few newspapers enjoyed running a story claiming (flippantly) that our announcement was the perfect way to one-up Man United as they finished off the signing of Juan Mata. The Manchester Evening News, which for obvious reasons tends to go into more detail for City (and United) stories created a little fact file for Melbourne Heart. The deal is also getting a bit of traction in the US press because it's a link between yourselves and New York City FC. I've seen a few English-language Asian news websites reporting it, too. Oh, and the story made FIFA's website. I personally use a news aggregator (newsnow.co.uk) which sources news stories for me only minutes after they are printed, and you'll probably find most of the articles published on the matter if you just go down this list and read everything there (most of them appear on the Man City feed as well, which is where I was first alerted to all of this): http://www.newsnow.co.uk/h/Sport/Football/Oceania/Australia/Melbourne+Heart However, if you just want a few select clippings, here's some of the stories from over here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25854631 http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/profile-what-manchester-city-taking-6555758? http://www.espn.co.uk/espn/sport/video_audio/276461.html?CMP=OTC-RSS;genre=1;sport=3 (video, may be UK-only?) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2544326/Manchester-City-continue-global-expansion-buying-Australian-Melbourne-Heart-star-player-Harry-Kewell.html http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2896/premier-league/2014/01/23/4563410/-? http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/manchester-city-announce-bought-melbourne-3052750?#.UuHBgRBFC70 Anyway, definitely time I got to bed, but looking forward to (hopefully) catching my first Heart game tomorrow (if I can get myself up in time) and enjoying the thought of having a new cross-town rival to hate, too

Dr.Dreas
Congratulations! You've just won the Lotto! I understand your concern about possibilities of name change, colours change and stadium change. I've no great knowledge about what will happen but you may be due a Hull+Cardiff change in one and that will be unsettling, although there's no reason not to keep "Hearts" as the nickname. But my point is, would you like to become part of the Manchester City group, have the same philosophy and see Manchester City style football played in your local stadium? Have the locality transformed into a footballing Mecca with training and community facilities that opponents can only dream of, have the Manchester City team visit on tour and exchange players (both ways) to develop them? A change of name and colours would seem to me a small price to pay to enjoy the wonderful football we are enjoying here in the UK. In 5 years, Manchester City will be amongst the most successful, if not the most successful, football club in the world, playing beautiful, open football in the right spirit - not the mean, cheating version of the game that Manchester United have played these past 20 years. Don't you want to be part of that? Enjoy the ride! Enjoyed everything you said then untill the whole manchester united cheating part... I'm glad your club bought us...it's good for us. But fuck you and fuck man city UNITED TILL I DIE!
