Vrankovic as well, fortunate to have back up but he was gonna boss this season.

Didn't bother watching the replay of yesterdays match after seeing the result, it happened in the build up to their goal didn't it?

He lost Maclaren in a 50/50 contest and then went to rugby tackle him and he slipped and did the injury then I think.

How does this keep happening to us?

Sign our new marquee Engelaar, who's going to finally give us an ability to pass our way out of defence and be a dominant presence in midfield for the first time in club history, gets a freak injury, out for most of the season.

Sign Harry Kewell, arguably the greatest ever Aussie player, who will be a creative force and easily the best attacking midfielder our club has ever seen. Gets a freak injury, out for who knows how long.

Sign Patty Kisnorbo, who with Wielaert is going to finally give us a defence that can defend and looks formidable in our opening handful of games, gets a freak injury as he turns around conceding our first goal from open play, out for half the season.

Mifsud and Wielaert should be worried.

*I considered writing the same write ups for Macallister and Germano, but just not sure their squad statuses warranted the outrage over the injustice of it all.

Just watched the highlights, pretty sure he did it when he turned and tried to take off after McLaren, went a few more steps and collapsed.

Patrick Kisnorbo avoids serious injury, out for a fortnight with knee cartilage damage

David Davutovic Herald Sun October 28, 2013

MELBOURNE Heart defender Patrick Kisnorbo has avoided serious injury but is set to miss at least a fortnight with cartilage damage to his right knee.

Heart officials hope Kisnorbo won’t require an arthroscopy after he limped off in the 52nd minute of the 1-0 away loss to Perth Glory on Sunday.

Kisnorbo’s knee buckled, allowing Jamie Maclaren through to score the winning goal, before he was replaced by Patrick Gerhardt.

Harry Kewell, who missed the match with whiplash, will rejoin teammates at training this week but Heart coach John Aloisi said the veteran was no certainty to face Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday.

Heart is in recovery mode after the Perth game, with right back Jason Hoffman suffering heatstroke after the game, during which temperatures reached 26C. He was vomiting before and during the red-eye flight back to Melbourne, but Aloisi said Hoffman and the others who struggled with the heat would be ready for the Roar clash.

"The boys are still recovering from the trip, but there is a good seven-day turnaround for Brisbane," Aloisi said.

"After the game he (Hoffman) started feeling dizzy as he came into the rooms and had blurry vision. Then at dinner he started throwing up and then on the plane he kept vomiting.

"He felt better when we got back to Melbourne, so we ¬expect him to be right, even though he may take a few ¬extra days to recover."

Kewell began individual training last week after being injured in the Round 1 draw with Melbourne Victory.

Marquee player Orlando Engelaar has started his slow recovery after fracturing his leg in pre-season.

"Harry should start training with the main group soon and we’ll see how he pulls up," Aloisi said. "If he’s any chance of playing, we’d love to have him for Brisbane.

"His presence makes a big difference but, if not Roar, we’re pretty sure he’ll be right for Western Sydney (Friday week).

"Orlando is starting to do some exercise now. He’s started to walk on (an anti-gravity treadmill)"

Thank god Kisnorbo isn't out for as long as first thought which is good!

Interesting to note Hoffman suffering from heatstroke, he wasn't the only one throwing up after the game in truth.

good news on kisnorbo.

to be honest, i think what's happened with kewell is he did his hammy against victory and the club tried to try cover it up. Should be back against wanderers next friday

I've seen this Hammy theory for Kewell a fair bit on the forum and not too sure how true it is, Whiplash can be pretty serious though!

So after 5 rounds we will have:

Engelaar - 0 games.

Captain Kewell - 1 game.

Kisnorbo. - 3 games.

We have a pathetic record with our veterans.

Look at Captain Fred and then of course 0 games from Grella last season after he was signed.

or look at it this way:

wielaert - 4 games

murdocca - 4 games

vs

kalmar - 0 games

germano - 0 games

it's harsh to solely blame the veterans

Should never appointed the hot physio. Seems all the players would rather be in her company than on the park. Get us a 60y.o Maltese bloke with a cold sponge on the knackers and watch our injury problems disappear.

Post of our entire forum existence.

Mus, in the depths of my despair about Melbourne Heart, you made me laugh.

Germanos been 3 weeks forever ffs, will he ever play for us again?

Germano is not good enough for the starting 11 anyway, waste of a visa spot

He's not on much more than the basic wage. We should release him by mutual consent. Every other A-League club would have done so by now. When you have a cap your squad size you have to take some tough decisions.
