PLAYERS and officials of four Nigerian amateur clubs involved in two promotion play-off games that produced farcical 79-0 and 67-0 scorelines have been banned for life.

A Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) committee investigating the results also recommended that the match officials in the two matches should be given life bans.

All four clubs, Plateau United Feeders, Akurba FC, Bubayaro FC and Police Machine FC, have been banned from the game for 10 years.

"The NFF have accepted the recommendations and they would be communicated to the clubs, the state FA's, CAF and FIFA," the NFF announced.

"We will publish all the names of players and officials with their photographs and details."

The Nigeria Football Federation found that one player scored 14 goals in a 79-0 win in one of two fixed playoff games involving amateur teams seeking promotion to the professional league this month.

In the other match, which ended 67-0 and was played at the same time, four goals were scored in a minute.

The NFF made public its findings after it banned all the players and officials involved in the games for life for match-fixing when Plateau United Feeders beat Akurba FC and Police Machine beat Babayaro FC by the scarcely believable scores.

The winning teams both wanted to boost their goal tallies to clinch promotion, having won the same amount of games.

The NFF said the four clubs were each banned for 10 years for their 'fraudulent conspiracy.'
