Red or Dead
Immature though it may be, does turning visitors merch in sports shops around the opposite way so that it is not visible, and covering their strip on a mannequin with one of ours, constitute representing the Heart? Dont know but I have been doing the same to Rangers kits since I was a kid. In Rebel Sport I always take a Heart top and hang it in front of the Visitors' tops so you're not alone.
HEARTinator
I don't know if this has been discussed before but was wondering why our jerseys don't have the name of our club on them. So nowhere on our strip will you find the words "Melbourne Heart FC". We get sponsor logos, and the A-league and MH logos but not our name. Why should we care? Well yesterday we had a student from Argentina join us for our regular twice weekly lunchtime football game in the park up at Carlton Gardens. After the game I had a quick word with him and he loves football (of course) and I pointed to my Kappa home jersey I was wearing. But I couldn't point to the name of our club because it's not on the strip. Seems odd. Chelsea, ManU and Liverpool for instance have their names on their logo. Something to chew over while we thrash the Roar this weekend Maybe a discussion item at the next fan rep group meeting?

theresonlyonebzamora
i think that's sort of the point jw. i think the logical step would be to incorporate the name of the club into the logo somehow. but knowing our track record i don't see the club changing it anytime soon

Guess we can leave it to the HeartFC brains trust (yeah just used the 'red card' emoticon coz it looks neat ) Edited November 1, 2013 by HEARTinator
Young Polak
Got to the match 5 minutes late and middle active bay was full so went to Bay 16 where we were the only guys standing. ACG came over after a couple of minutes and told us to sit. We argued and even showed our Bay 16 active memberships.Guy said to sit down and take it up with the club. Seemed on the verge of being kicked out. I'm all for condensing the active area, but some communication from the club wouldn't hurt if they're re zoning bays. Bring this up at the next meeting please.
Ando
At the next FRG please raise the issue of over-policing. I counted 14 VicPol standing on the concourse in the southern end immediately after the game, and anywhere from 10-15 situated around the Active Area throughout the match. This is on top of the ACG employees, of which there were about the same number. I was up the back of Bay 16 and told by ACG to sit down also. Bay 16 is active, so I'm well entitled to stand. I don't really have an issue with the police presence, the 3 that I spoke with at different times as I entered and moved around to get photos were all friendly and cracked a joke so I don't think there was any real intimidation that another club complains about...I'd certainly prefer having police rather than ACG. If they want to waste all their resources on us then thats their problem. Edited November 9, 2013 by hedaik
Deluka
To the cops I've spoken to, they all seemed to like us and just hate melbourne victory as they see them and not us as the trouble makers. But still, the cop presence was ridiculous
jw1739
Were they there because of the specific game against WSW? Outside Gate 7 just before KO two AGC employees, a male and female, had confiscated a banner and were talking (not aggressively) to two WSW supporters they had identified. The AGC bloke was on his radio, presumably to his HQ, about one of the WSW supporters, who had been identified by a tattoo on his forearm. ThePolo
Also could the FRG possibly bring up the idea of the club maybe having a fade whenever they play music, know its not much but the sudden stop is not only annoying but sounds pretty unprofessional. So happy together definently has legs and always had since it was first played.

I normally just walk like I'm meant to be there and know where I'm going and no one asks any questions Could be to do with my age though. I'm not to old where I look like I"m lost and really not going to enjoy the active area, or I don't look too young where I'm going to be 'trouble' and need to be checked. In terms of supporter group types, I'm not sure myself what that entails ... What I do encourage though is for supporters to e-mail through current concerns and tie back to the topic of membership growth
Heart of Melbourne
Injury prone players? Tell them what's with signing injury prone players. belaguttman
Ask then for a weekly report from the Coach to the fans that is written by the coach and tells us what is happening and the reasoning behind his decisions. If he wants us to believe rather than to have faith then we need factual information. No platitudes, no excuses, just information. Then he can say whatever he likes in the press conferences. You might also suggest that coming across as someone so disconnected from reality as he appeared after the Roar game (even though JA was trying to protect his players) is hardly a great recruiting strategy. i know that there's a pre-ha,e video that is sent out in the weekly newsletter but we really want more factual information, also regarding injury, and also a post game report to fans that is honest and not just a 'rally the troops' type message. jw1739
No doubt we'll get a report on the meeting at some stage. But I still think that the main thing supporters want to get across to the club is not so much the "small items" but that supporters want to see Melbourne Heart return to its original values, especially the development and promotion of young Australian footballers, and that we want the club to visibly and demonstrably be ambitious, set stretch objectives in everything we do, and never be accepting of losing or being second-best.
Torn Asunder
http://m.footballaustralia.com.au/melbourne-heart-news-display/article/Representative-Group-Newsletter-No.3/78650/309 Representative Group Newsletter No.3 2:49PM, Nov 21 2013 The Melbourne Heart FC Fan Representative Group met on Tuesday 12 November to discuss a number of topics, including match-day entertainment, supporter group types and increasing the supporter base of this great club. We covered some feedback on the club’s new match day initiatives including HeartZone, kid’s clinic, DJ, entertainment and face painter. This was generally positive. HeartZone is being improved and developed with new material. We suggested the clinic start time be clearly stated and face painter more prominent/easy to find. Since the first home game, the club song “So Happy Together” has been reduced in length and volume which seems better for fans to sing along to. We discussed other song ideas and a stronger intro from the MC for “When the Hearts Go marching In”. While members have different tastes in music it was pointed out we can’t change the song too often and it’s best to stick with one song throughout the season, giving people a chance to get used to it as an anthem. We looked at ways of bringing fans around the stadium together to make more noise and be more involved. For example streamers, placards, all of us standing up and holding our scarves for the club song or doing the Posnan. Clearly we want to develop a something unique to Melbourne Heart that will stick for a long time. Foxtel have been picking up too much of the away fans making them seem louder than us, which they’re not! We spoke about membership packs and what’s included. Apart from general discussion on which items people like/don’t like, it was noted the “Melbourne Heart” branding could be more visible and we should use this opportunity to really put ourselves out there, eg. car stickers are seen by a lot of people. Simple but important things like ensuring clear communication on the big screen, in newsletters and information on derby ticketing arrangements were discussed. We spoke about banners, funding and donations for Yarraside. Some of the ideas we had re: stadium and outside lighting, covering seats with our colours or visual branding were noted. It looks like the Santa hats will be back for the pre-Christmas derby (hooray!). A key topic of discussion was the new and existing supporter groups and how the club can acknowledge and assist them. A new women’s group has been set up. There’s a Dutch group and many others. In general, it’s good for Melbourne Heart to have these groups bringing together like-minded people, communities and families. Particular interest was shown in social events outside match day and more opportunities for fans to get together for away matches. There was also discussion about how to increase memberships and attendances. As a club we’d like to attract more celebrity fans. Who should we approach and how? We’d love to hear your ideas on this. It was noted there are many people in Australia who support a team in Europe/overseas but don’t follow an A-League club or wear their strip. Attracting more registered FFV members or junior football club players was discussed, as well as more corporate networking events and special offers for selected games. Concerns were raised re the team’s performance and the manager esp. post-match comments after 3-0 loss, how supporters feel and that the club should be more aggressive about not accepting poor referee decisions. The manager is obviously under a lot of pressure and we hope results turn around soon. The idea of a weekly video report or YouTube q&a was discussed. Also the possibility of one of the post-match functions being held around Christmas. The FRG will meet again in January or February 2014. What ideas do you have re. match day experience, creating more atmosphere around the stadium and attracting more members and supporters inc. celebrities? Please share any comments or feedback you have at fans@melbourneheartfc.com.au #HeartBelieve The FRG
malloy
Can you clarify what the FRG has to do with YS and how it is funded? I don't see how this is relevant to the FRG.
