  1. Given you a follow on Insta. Would you put yourself in the natural wines category? I notice sunmoth do a lot with natural wines. Only really exposed myself to them in recent times since moving to Victoria. Will try make an effort to have a look at yours soon.
  2. Might be in the minority here but Id keep our goalkeeping stocks the same as they are for next season. Redmayne would go if he was coming off contract but Tando has been as good as any other keeper this year imo. Vuckovic probably being the best. Would not have been saying this at the beginning of the season but with Tando stepping up Redmayne is an ok number two in this league. If Vuckovic became available go for him and try to move Redmayne on. But outside of that leave it as is imo and focus on getting in some fullbacks and wingers.
  3. Think the recruitment was fairly strong all season bar Koren being a waste of a marquee spot. Through the whole season as it played out I expected JVS to get the beginning of next season to show improvement and then if it wasn't forthcoming he'd be shown the door mid season next year. Bar us getting humiliated on Friday I don't see that changing regardless of results in the finals series. Can see the case for a 4 team finals series but I think it's just as much about keeping crowd figures up at the tail end of the season for all teams having something to fight for. A four team finals series will probably leave about four or five clubs with nothing to play for for the last four or so rounds.
  4. This is the thinking I am worried about. Even if we do go on to the grand final and even win it, the fact remains all complaints made about him at the start of the season are still huge problems when you look at the season as a whole. Inconsistent? Check. Plays players out of position or not used properly? Check. Boring? Check. Players not motivated for important games? Check. 30-35 win percentage? Check. And so on. I will be over the moon if we win and I will l be there Friday night cheering City on too, but really we have no business being in the hunt for the most prestigious prize in Aust football and its only down to the FFA's comical format that we can have a season like ours and only be one win away from a grand final spot. But I'm sure this type of thinking will be seen as irrational and I'm not a true fan etc etc. and we can do the whole thing again next year because people will judge him on three matches. I agree on all points except the finals format being comical. It's required in australian football and makes a ten team league with no relegation entertaining for the fans of all teams all the way through. It's a tall ask for a team to win three away games on the trot against teams that all have finished the season higher than you. Would we have ever done that in the past? I think the system is about right as I can't remember a team outside the top 2 winning the gf? Correct me if I'm wrong of course. I don't think CFG will be blindsided by a finals run though. They'd be judging the season and squad as a whole.
  5. There's dumb fucks who've posted pictures of their tickets for sale on gumtree. Just enlarge those, crop them back and print them off. Get there right on doors open so you use the barcode first and bingo free tickets.
  6. What Retre do you watch he looks slow as all hell to me? Obviously Jalien's is no spring chicken but I'd personally take Jaliens better reading of the game. Although I didn't see the adelaide game.
  7. Did nothing at yeovil then scored the goal that practically sealed our relegation haha. Bastard. By all accounts he was excellent at Walsall though. I don't think there was much any forward could do in that Yeovil side this year. .
  8. I agree that Murdocca has more energy and would also play him. However, you have Paartalu in the side and as bad has Koren has been, he is streets ahead of Paartalu. I would prefer to play Mauk in front of both to be honest. I really don't get why people choose Paartalu as an automatic choice. Apart from set pieces, he offers nothing to the team imo. Agree there but Mauk is probably unfit and Koren I think can create a difference late in the game. Only reason I went that way.
  9. Think you need to brush off your dictionary and look up the word literally. What edition of dictionary you use ? Perfectly acceptable to use literally in an informal sense to display emphasis on something that's not neccasarily true. I'm sure there are plenty of peer reviewed articles on our potential line up this afternoon if you prefer to read a formal piece. Language as an evolving social construct is hard hey!?
  10. Could put a goat in charge if we got VDV for all I care. We'd finish bottom but it will still be the best season of supporting this club I've had.I recall similar being said when Villa signed, except we put a donkey in charge. Yeah but CFG fucked up and didn't hire the goat.

  12. Just the thought of VDV with city or back at Ajax has had me maintaining an erection for a solid week now. Full homo.
  13. I'd expect a Singaporean team may be slightly better but Malaysian league teams don't generally have player welfare at the top of their priorities. Just because he is playing doesn't mean he is fit to do so.
  14. Literally no chance we will win this. If we go with Ramsay and Retre as full backs we will get smashed out wide if we drop Germano to cover one of those positions we will get smashed centrally, id rate Murdocca as a better midfielder than Retre or Ramsay are full backs so by that logic Id go; Velaphi Retre Chapman Kisnorbo Germano Paartalu Murdocca Mooy Williams Kennedy Novillo Subs: Koren, Redmayne, Mate, Ramsay, Mauk Playing the 442 diamond will give Krishna and burns free reign to do whatever they please on the wing I fear. As they did second half when I have no idea how they didn't get a winner last time we played them away. It's games like these where I believe Murdocca is valuable to the squad as being a bit of a pest and closing space. For that reason Koren I don't think can start this. If we can be 0-0 or only 1-0 down with 20 mins to go then perhaps in theory him and Mate can at least give some sort of extra attacking threat, (perhaps!)
  15. Think he could be and at a better age. Is different for Khalfallah playing off Berisha, Milligan, Valeri, Thompson ect than it is with some of the spuds around Novillo.
  16. Pretty much got my Opa being stationed in WA via London then Sri Lanka at the end of WW2 with the Dutch navy to thank for being born in Australia. Don't think its a stretch for people to acknowledge family members who fought in the wars. Many second and third generations have war time migration to thank for being Australian.
  17. TTIM; People using Anzac Day either way to push political agendas. It's a day to remember those who died in the horrors of war. Not a day to push nationalist or anti-government agendas. Worse is the commercialisation of it all. Woke up first thing this morning to an iTunes email advertising the top 50 Australian war stories and that crap Target was peddling. TTDIM; The thousands there for the right reasons, in particular the younger generations.
  18. Inb4 Mooy is signed by Manchester to be loaned out in Europe for the rest of his career before returning to Melbourne City as an injury prone journeyman.
  19. I know it sounds a weird call but I've always seen tiki taka style teams that aren't Barcelona crumbling in high intensity games where the results are important. Games usually unfold as such that they get hit on the counter early then passing goes astray / panicked players deviate from the game plan when the nerves start kicking in. Style over substance if you will. FWIW I don't think Gombau will ever win this league due to the inconsistency you will get with this level of players playing his style of football. Obviously Adelaide will be favourites but I wouldnt at all be surprised if we beat them in the final should we draw them.
  20. Goals v midgets isn't neccasarily an accurate description of the j-league either. Most j-league teams have one or two international cb's. Usually angry Balkans. A mate who lives in Osaka reckons the Japanese blame this trait for their Nt's defensive issues. I would say his more recent j-league stats are a better context than his European form from years ago or international form.
  21. I think the irony here is in our earlier seasons with JVS we put in a lot of crosses when we didn't have a striker capable of dealing with it. Now we have Kennedy we are largely playing with wingers like Novillo, Koren out of position and Williams who cut in or drift centrally and don't provide crosses. FWIW Kennedy has had a fair few headers denied by excellent saves in the 9 games he has been here if one or two of those go in 3 from 9 is serviceable. RE: Kaliderjovic isn't he taking penalties as well? In the games I've watched of brisbane he has looked fairly toothless but admittedly that isn't many I've watched. Kennedy also regularly knocks balls down to dangerous positions where there is no one running off him. Just seems a disconnect between him and those around him. Which falls back to the coach imo. Kennedy is clearly cooked physically but a player of his ilk it shouldn't matter too much if you play to his strengths. He is a goalscorer who we should be playing to his strengths not slotting him in and expecting him adjust his game which has worked for him for so long at a much higher level than our league.
  22. High probability, but i guess i cant help get excited about finals since i've never been to one lol If the one final we have been in that I was at is anything to go by it's not much to get excited about. Some strange part of me sees us doing Adelaide this weekend and the next, we would get absolutely fucked on by Victory in a semi though.
  23. Prospect of adelaide away for our final gives me some hope, think it is by far the best we could hope for. Adelaide might be the best footballing team to watch but they are very beatable especially with our newfound defensive resilience.
  24. Don't think it's being a nice guy. It's taking a gamble where I believe the risks are worth the potential rewards. Having a midfield four of Melling, Mooy, paartalu and Germano without using a visa spot would be the envy of the league imo.
