  1. Why not grab an "active seat" which will guarantee entry for a derby and sit where you normally sit in GA for other games?
  2. I tried the diary a couple of times and gave up when it wouldn't let me in. I thought I could write about the travelling fan experience in Adelaide, but by the time I managed to get it to work, I'd lost my enthusiasm for it.
  3. I mentioned the ticket debacle in the comments at the end. I was annoyed at the transportation options not including tram, which I use every game. For a club that spruiks so much about being part of Melbourne, ignoring our trams is almost sacrilegious.
  4. Waleed said denigrative terms like "animals" and others are what football fans are constantly subjected to by the media and are what we don't like. He was talking about the "we stand by the 198" banner and said that while most fans didn't support the actions that caused them to be banned, the media constantly lump us all together with their biased articles and therefore subject us all to guilt by association (my words, not his). He said that the average fan doesn't like to be referred to in such negative terms and therefore have a tenuous alliance with the 198. The latest article by Wilson is exactly why we feel aggrieved as she lashes out at everyone with an emotion riddled article, using terms like "shame file" to support her biased argument. No, Wilson, it's not a "shame file", that's your term. It's a list of people banned from entering specific stadiums. The only shame involved is that this hack journalist is still employed. I wonder what her reaction would be if the police decided to publish a list of her convictions.
  5. Once again Waleed Aly speaks with a calm, rational voice about the protest, where the others still don't get it. For those that missed it, he basically said the denigration of fans by the media is what upsets us.
  6. Just like they did the last time we had a protest when we didn't stand for mediocrity. But try getting them to engage in any form of support throughout the game and they just stare back with a look on their face suggesting we've insulted their support.
  7. And if the sausage guy turns up, there won't be a queue.
  8. Sure does, but winning 6 derbies in a row is hard to top.
  9. You're right, the real action this week will be in the terrace.
  10. There's a saying, "today's news is tomorrow's fish n chip paper". The Wilson story will be forgotten in a week or so, but we will still be living in a world of pain unless our club improves and starts winning games. While I support the protest against the shoddy media the active support gets, I'm more concerned about the future of our club.
  11. And how good was Sunderland's win this morning? After such a shite season, to get an away win against a form side was so good, I'm still on a high. Ha'way the Lads!
  12. If JVS brings the sausages, he can stay for another week.
  13. So this week the terrace is going to put in as much effort as our boys did in our last home game?
  14. Can't blame anybody for not wanting to watch the crap performance we're being dished up each week. I live locally so will always go to our home games at AAMI as it's no great inconvience to me, but I sympathise with members who travel long distances to watch us.
  15. As long as the black cats finish above the mags, I'll be happy!
  16. Followed by our first home game in the "popular Sunday 5pm time slot ". The FFA don't help our membership cause with this start.
  17. I buy an active membership for me and a GA membership for my wife. So I sit with her for the odd game she attends near the terrace. Probably won't be buying her a GA membership next year as we don't like the north end of the stadium. There must be a logical reason for the switch but I can't see it.

    Fold FIFA

I think the Qatar decision "blew their cover", as thinly disguised as it was. Nobody that has the best interests of the game at heart would schedule the World Cup in summer in one of the hottest countries on Earth. And then reschedule to winter, disrupting most of the world's major football seasons. Not unless a lot of money changed hands!

About time FIFA were called to account for their actions.
  20. Bringing the seats in reduces capacity, as there's bays in the corners that can't be sold. Anyway, with AFL games on at the weekend, it could wreck the surface.Didn't look into it to be honest. Wouldn't it have been better if they didn't bring the seats in so a crowd of 55k could've been achieved?they aren't bringing them in, therefore 50k+ can be achieved Then why did it say expected to be a sell out of 46k? No idea, its max capacity is around 55k, which Victards v Adelaide got a few years ago. Sometimes I think they deliberately play games with attendances to increase ticket demand. Sometimes they count Medallion Club members as an attendance even when they haven't shown up. Perhaps they've only stated ticket number available for sale? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. Will be interesting to see how much media coverage we get this week. Especially going up against game at MCG. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  23. Was a great night at the Imp, standing room only and lots of singing and chanting. Security were counting people as they entered to avoid overcrowding. Bar staff in Melb City tee shirts (looked great) which were given away free to anyone that wanted one (a big thank you to the club). Atmosphere was electric and when we scored that first goal the place erupted. 2nd goal even better. Tony had us chanting between the bars "split the pub", and when the final whistle was blown it was awesome. Lots of hugging, even saw a few people in tears of joy. Best rendition of Happy Together and the greatest night of football ever (without being at the game). "We're coming for you..." Awesome! How many people would you say rocked up? No idea, didn't do a head count. It was crowded, but not uncomfortable. If the venue held, say 300, I'd say it was filled to it's safe capacity. Wasn't too hard to move through the crowd to get to the bar and the staff managed to get food to tables okay. All TVs were on the game and the entire crowd was glued to the TVs. I've been to the Imp for a few away games, but nothing like last night will ever come close to the fantastic atmosphere. If only we could get such solid support in the terrace each week.
