  1. I'm pleased that my scoreline prediction was wrong and pleased that, despite the result, this was our most complete performance of the season. Positives: We played to not lose for much of the match, and given where we are, that was a reasonable strategy. Clean sheet. Very good pressing and gene-pressing from our midfield when we lost the ball, that shielded our backline well and it's no coincidence that we kept a clean sheet. Aslan is very good to watch. Aziz's passion drove the whole team; he understands the derby. Negatives: Natel is extremely frustrating to watch; he always does something skilful, followed by something a pub team player would do; how did this guy play in the top league in Brazil? For all the cohesive play, we created very few genuine chances.
  2. I hope that I'm wrong, but I'm expecting 0-4 tonight; hat trick to Bruno. At least 1 red card
  3. I think that Ugarkovic's lack of positioning and ability to break up play and initiate attacking transitions is what is really costing us. We struggled during the games that O'Neill didn't play over the past few seasons; I think that DM is a key position in CFG's style of play.
  4. That was a poor performance and we're a shadow of the teams we've fielded the past few seasons. Positives: We didn't lose at home to the team that's 9th on the ladder Negatves: Our defence is slow We are often shapeless and too open, especially in defensive transitions. We really lack a quality DM. O'Neill was the pivot that set up all our attacking moves and broke down attacks. Ugarkovic just isn't good enough positionally, defensively or in attack. Sahki and Aslan don't defend, this puts too much pressure on our back line and leaves us too open in the channels when our FBs push up Maclaren needs some time to recover, let's use Caputo as more than a bench warmer
  5. Yes, they were practising the template to use against us
  6. Denis Genreau could barely get a few minutes off the bench here but is a Ligue 1 regular; one of ours that we totally missed
  7. Yes, the seemingly endless flow of talent started to ebb towards the end of PK's time
  8. Yes, and who else is there that we haven't played? We seem to stop promoting the steady stream of youth players under Rado
  9. Who would stop a young player from pursuing his dreams in Serie A? It's a loss for us, though. The only question for me is whether he has gone too early.
  10. Great for him, less good for us as we lose a player in a position that needs strengthening
  11. Sure, but there are other teams that we'll be playing during the Asian Cup, and this season our bench has less depth and experience than in previous seasons. It does give us the opportunity to play some of those young players, it's their big chance
  12. We're also likely to lose Aziz, Leckie and JMac during the Asian Cup in January; that loss won't do us any favours.
  13. I think that there was some recognition that we were going to require a good shot stopper, at least in the early part of the season.
  14. Hopefully, you are correct. Matt Leckie did say that our football would be ugly until Xmas, I hope that he's right too.
  15. It's good to get an away win, but hard to know what to take from that game beyond the 3 points. Newcastle were very poor.
  16. The presence of a fit Leckie won't solve our problems, but it would help
  17. It will be a big chance for Max Caputo, but he's a different type of striker. Let's see how Vidmar can use him. Hopefully, Reis isn't starting on the wing in place of Behich without a change in tactics; we need to find a way to play more compactly & close down the spaces between our lines and improve our cohesion. What I'm expecting is that we'll score less and concede more.
  18. Imagine our team during the Asian Cup early next year: no JMac, no Aziz, likely no LeckiešŸ˜±
  19. I think that the problem is that he never managed to get the dressing room to buy into the vision
  20. Impotent... and ejaculatory failure. We can't get the supporters to come.
  21. This is going to be a very long season. I doubt that we'll get much joy from the remaining three games, and I'd expect a good flogging in the derby on that performance. This is a case of the team's ability being well below the sum of the parts. Yes, we still have a team of apparent strangers, but after pre-season, four games and a week of training during the break, there is no sign of progression. If we are going to push up with our FBs, then we either need to invert one or play two decent DMs, as we are leaving acres of space between midfield and the backline that even NPL teams carved through like a hot knife through butter. This is compounded by both Souprayen and Reis being slow, although Souprayen surprised me with better positioning today. Our forward play is dull and predictable; our crosses seem to either be overhit, not get past the first defender, or go to the keeper. We look aimless in set pieces, a far cry from a few seasons ago, and our conversion efficiency must surely be one of the worst in the League. Natel is a passenger. Vidmar seems to have us playing more directly; for once our completed passes weren't double our opponents, but our turnover rate is still way too high.
