Yes, IMO Petrillo should never have allowed all these contracts to finish concurrently. But I don't resile from the view that it's deeper than that. Sakhi's abrupt departure, Behich's too. Then Van Houten and another assistant pulling the pin. These follow Lam and VDV walking away from their contracts at the end of last season. And Rado of course.

Maybe, but as former captain he must be aware of anything amiss. -
So you are pointing the finger at the playing group?

Why isn't Jamo having that effect now? -
City Football Group (CFG) [Owner of Melbourne City]

Extremely interesting article. Depressing really. What hope have we got? We don't even get anyone from another CFG club, just see a continual exodus of our better players. -
So what can we deduce? Either both coaches have the same problem, or the problem isn't the coach? If neither of these, then is the problem with the playing group as a whole, or individuals, or is it seated deeper in the club somewhere?

Panic signing. Petrillo has lost the plot. -
Conor Metcalfe scored St. Pauli's fourth in their 4-3 away win at second-placed Holstein Kiel. St. Pauli lead the 2. Bundesliga by six points. A good chance for the lad to be playing in the Bundesliga next season

IMO Joyce is unfairly criticised. He brought some discipline into the club- something that seems to me to be sadly missing now - and he brought some good players to the club via his contacts - De Laet, McCormack, Hendry. I hope that we can find a good overseas coach for next season onwards who can do the same. This season's squad is just so bland.

I think we could see another "uncompetitive performance" from a disjointed-looking squad... ...but I'm hoping to be surprised. -
Going to be interesting at season's end. Does Petrillo have the balls to tell one of his ex-Adelaide mates that he isn't in line for the permanent job?

What gets to me is that it is so completely self-defeating. Doesn't football need publicity to continue to exist let alone grow? -

BTW, you won't find much coverage of the NPL on the club web-site. I asked the club about this last season and was told "we don't like to tread on the toes of the Football Victoria...." -

Other than our shitful colours and the occasional lottery to win a trip to some God-forsaken hole in the Middle East you could be forgiven for thinking that there is no connection between us and CFG at all. -
Unfortunately Vidmar hasn't got the balls to make a change like that. Caputo is lucky to get on the pitch, let alone play alongside JMac.
-
I think it's in both his and the club's interests for him to move. He's going stale with us, and what's happening around him isn't helping him either.
-
On the coaching position(s) - the coaching team has been unstable for quite a while. IMO we need to first appoint a coach who demonstrates an intention to play a particular style within the "City way" and then go from there with assistants and player recruitment. I don't think where the coach comes from matters - it's the qualities he brings that do.
-
I think more or less all those coming out of contract need to go. It's been obvious this season that the club needs a complete rebuild instead of making stop-gap signings that we've seen recently. The rebuild needs to start with a new coach who can at least have input into the sort of players that he would prefer, even if he doesn't make the final decisions.

FTFY. Absolutely he's had plenty of time to implement a style of play. His appointment had all the signs of a panic appointment, when there was no need for it. Even if we had to fall back on Jamo as an interim coach while we looked for someone more experienced. Former captain should have been able to hold the squad together. -
We signed a Chilean guy - Vicente Fernandez

His parent club is actually CA Talleres in the Argentina Primera.
