  1. I thought of this too. I'd be happy to drop a flyer in letter-boxes say a couple of weeks before next season, advertising the club and membership rates etc. It's not hard to do a few streets in your local suburb but needs a bit of organization.
  2. You're probably right, but I would suggest that a far more sensible approach would be to try to show the AFC what the real football landscape is in Australia rather than have Gallop making perhaps off-the-cuff remarks in some form of appeasement mode. For starters neither of our two 'major football codes' AFL and NRL have promotion and relegation and there is no likelihood of either introducing it. I'm not into either code, but even the mighty AFL has seen two Melbourne-based clubs move elsewhere for financial reasons (however much the AFL likes to dress that up), and I've lost count of the various rises, falls and mergers that have taken place in Rugby League. To hear Gallop of all people talking about something for football that neither the AFL or NRL embrace just sends shudders down my spine.
  3. I think just under 20,000, level 3 being about 5,000 each side.
  4. Have to put my hand up and say that I was one who thought Madaschi wouldn't cut it, thinking he was too slow. But his stint with us was the best run of results we've ever had in our short history. If we can pull off the signing of Lucas Neill I reckon it would be great. I'm not that fussed that it might only be to the end of this season. As Sash has said, once players join the Heart they seem to like the set-up, so having the like of Meeuwis and Neill with us for a few months puts us in the box seat to retain them if that's what both parties want.
  5. IMO quite pointless having Macallister on the bench. If Babalj has to come off move Williams to the central role. He has the pace and is right on form.
  6. Gerhardt signed a two-year contract. IMO one of our best ever signings. There is absolutely no reason why the club would not want him to continue to play with us.
  7. I'm in complete agreement. Three A-League franchises have already disappeared, even without relegation - Auckland, North Queensland, Gold Coast. How anyone can possibly envisage promotion and relegation at this point in the A-League's fragile position is beyond me. See http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-02-13/fa-cup-style-comp-set-for-australia/4517108?section=sport I
  8. Stability is very important. Irrespective of where we finish this season JA and JD have the opportunity to reshape the squad as necessary for what we're aiming for next season and thereafter. You don't get that when you have managers going in and out of the revolving door. I was one for some sort of change earlier but I concede that I was wrong.
  9. Put Vranks on the bench instead of Fred. Surely we need a defender there?
  10. Interesting in the video he says he was approached by Central Coast before the start of this season when he was still contracted to VVV Venlo.
  11. Going to be interesting to see what happens at the end of this season. We already have Stefan Mauk contracted for next year, and we have Gerhardt who was signed as DM but has played CB all season. But Hoffman, Kalmar, Germano, Garcia, Fred, Thompson and now Meeuvis all come out of contract at the end of this season. It's going to be interesting to see who we release, who we (try to) retain, and any new signings.
  12. Must sound good when you're losing 1-4 with two minutes to go. What's all this 'orchestration' of 'atmosphere' all about? Another extension of the nanny state where people can't think for themselves?
  13. If that is the announcement then the people at FFA are even more stupid than I could ever have imagined. Relegation would be the death of the club involved, and the eventual demise of the League itself, and would take football in this country back 50 years.

  15. Nice little video of him via the Heart E-mail I've just received.
  16. Didn't realise he did actually play for the Netherlands 'B' team about four years ago.
  17. I saw the article in the Hun. But has there actually been a press release on this signing from the club?
  18. Nothing unusual. Members of families do not always support the same club. Happens everywhere, including the AFL. There are also a number of people who are members of both clubs. Don't get the point of this thread. Jeez, be happy that people are coming to Heart games and supporting the club in whatever way they see fit.
  19. I thought Van Den Brink was Dutch? We have our full complement of visa players again.
  20. Too many things happening at once. Do one thing at a time and get it right. So far the timing of 'So Happy Together' isn't right. There was barely time for one chorus. The song's OK, but it's the chorus that people sing. The verses and the 'Ba-Ba-Ba...' are of no consequence. IMO song needs work so that we can get it going next season. The announcer does not give the players' numbers any more.
  21. We could give him a three-month contract as a trial, just as we're doing with Meeuwis?
  22. I think we're doing the right thing with this guy. He's got pedigree, he's potentially got several more years in him. We're going to give him what is really a three-month trial and see how he goes. Pity we hadn't done that with Gray.
  23. Why change a winning team? Certainly Kalmar must stay. A bloke can't be left out after being MOM. Colosimo is a difficult one. Vrankovic and Walker were under a lot of pressure from Perth, who IMO deliberately attacked down their LW to try and break the two young lads. There were some scary moments, but they hung on. My issue with Colosimo is that he is the prime suspect in this negative defensive play that we have seen so much of this season, play that we now know is against the express instructions of JA. The contrast once Colosimo is not in the team is stark, as shown against Perth. One other comment. Every game is a six-point game, not just the few games at the end of the season.
