  2. Ante joins Ange at Roos http://www.fourfourtwo.com/au/news/ante-joins-ange-roos Western Sydney Wanderers assistant coach Ante Milicic is set to join Ange Postecoglou with the Socceroos for the next three years, Football Federation Australia revealed today. The former Socceroo joins Postecoglou’s staff after stints as an assistant with the Wanderers and Melbourne Heart in the A-League, the Australian Institute of Sport and as head coach of Sydney United in the NSW Premier League. “I’m honoured to have been handed such a tremendous opportunity to work as an assistant coach with the Socceroos,” Milicic said. “As a former Socceroo I am passionate about the National team and I look forward to the challenge. “I’m excited to be able to work with Ange, especially with the World Cup coming up as well as the Asian Cup in Australia and with so many talented players starting to break through. “I’ve had a good apprenticeship under John van’t Schip and Poppa (Tony Popovic) as well as the 2009 and 2011 U20 World Cups as an assistant to Jan Versleijen and I’m looking forward to continuing that under Ange. “I’d also like to thank the Western Sydney Wanderers for allowing me to take this opportunity and I am determined to finish the A-League season with the same passion and dedication I will take to the national team.” Milicic will remain with Western Sydney Wanderers until the end of this season but will join Postecoglou for the Socceroos clash with Ecuador in London on March 5. “I’m delighted that Ante Milicic will be coming on board as an assistant coach with the Socceroos,” Postecoglou said. “One of my priorities after becoming national team head coach was to secure quality staff to help drive the Socceroos and Ante is a driven coach who will fit into our environment. “I wanted the best people to come in and contribute to the growth and success of the national team and I’m confident Ante will add further expertise to our existing staff. “Ante has experience at domestic level and International level with both senior and junior national teams and will play a part in an exciting new era as we look to build the next golden generation of Australian footballers. “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Western Sydney Wanderers for their cooperation to ensure I was able to appoint the people I thought were best for the job.” Western Sydney Wanderers Executive Chairman Lyall Gorman supported Milicic in his decision and wished him well: “Our club is fully supportive and excited about Ante’s appointment to this prestigious role,” Gorman said. “A part of our commitment at the Wanderers is to provide an environment that fosters ambition for everyone associated with the club and that encourages and supports each individual to maximize their career aspirations and opportunities. “The role of assistant coach of the Socceroos is a tremendous professional and career development opportunity for Ante and we wish him well, safe in the knowledge that should the time come in the future for him to return to a coaching role in the Hyundai A-League it will be with our club.” Aurelio Vidmar will also remain as Assistant Coach for the Socceroos and continue with his duties as Head Coach of the Olyroos (National U23 team).
  3. His defensive duties were good, he got a goal, but I thought some of his passing was terrible. I hope it's just match fitness.
  4. Well it was a fun match to watch, especialy the second half. Enjoy.
  5. Get in, fucking brilliant win and I though Behich did well tonight.
  6. Today Do you work night shift too? Get in for the vampires!
  7. I got asked what young Aussies could we could sign. Realiticly these are a few names. Just to put some names out. Richard Porter Dylan McGowan Bailey Wright Travis Cooper - comes out of contract in about 4-5 months at VV Venlo Tomislav Mrcela Steven Ugarkovic Jerry Karpeh Opostolos Gianou
  8. As a Celtic supporter I can assure you that Kennedy would def score more goals than Samaras... but obv I would be happy with either player. But Samaras can also play on the wing or behind the striker, no?He can also play on the wing, but lets just say watching Samaras from afar and watching him play for your side are two very different things. How so? He is the single most frustrating player I have ever seen in any sport. Shows incredible talent when he feels like it, which is about 30% of the time. . already have gol gol for that Agree El Cunado, he is a bit too hot and cold for me and very rarely defends from the front.
  9. As a Celtic supporter I can assure you that Kennedy would def score more goals than Samaras... but obv I would be happy with either player. Personaly I would rather Kennedy
  10. As far as I know he has citizenship and tranfermarket has him as Greek - Australian.
  11. All good and true, I have faith in their 36 scouts over myself Just to put some names out. Richard Porter Dylan McGowan Bailey Wright Travis Cooper - comes out of contract in about 4-5 months at VV Venlo Tomislav Mrcela Steven Ugarkovic Jerry Karpeh Opostolos Gianou
  12. I don't think Leckie would come here imo, he is in the first XI in the Bundes 2 and doing verry well.
  13. Quite a unique position your in, as you have never seen them win either. Not sure what to make of the damn thing?
  14. How young is young? But from our youth teem, both Mauk and Vrankovic played in the Aussie U22. Garrucio played recently and looked lively. Walker played a bit last year and did well. Shroen has alright pedigree and comments have been good about him. Mitchinson and Kaya seem allright by reports. From A League. Danny De Silva from Perth glory would be awesome, made his debut last year at 15yrs and 352 days old. Plays for olyroos and was wanted by Everton, but chose to stay at Perth. Tomi Juric - WSW (22) young but not youth. Andrew Hoole - Jets (20) young but not youth. Overseas. Ikonomedies - playing in greece. I will have to come back about others (though they may possibly want to stay in Europe) as we have some in spain, England League 1&2 who may be allright.
  15. It is not that strange considering how young the A League is and not everyone having a connection to a NSL club. Then consider your pearants are from a different country, in your ear about the homeland. I have been following Hannover96 (RIP Enke) for most of my life, the Heart is my first Australian team. So...not that strange.

    New manager

Stubbins and Papas in the mix please. Both Victorians, both have been pretty succesfull locally, both have A League experience, both have done well overseas in difficult circumstsnces. Stubbins also has ACL experience.
  17. There used to be a big vacant bit of land near Melbourne uni, just had a few derelect buildings. The cave clan used to run about the tunnels there, it would have been good. But now I think about it, I think that's where the museum got built - correct me if I am wrong.
  18. City of Melbourne should be doing what they can to make it happen. If not EGate, then somewhere in Docklands or Fishermans Bend in an attempt to inject some life into the area. Fremantle Dockers had City of Cockburn and City of Fremantle basically fighting over each other to get their new state of the art training facility in their suburbs. We could hijack Demons plans: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/demons-for-docklands-elliott-20120920-269jf.html Think the demons plan plot may be the vacant bit of grass land I suggested before, would be a good spot, inner city in a growing area. When I first saw the E gate suggestion I thought you were being funny (though I couldn't work out how) ala water gate... nope just me being an idiot. But that looks like a great spot too.
  19. Man City vs Watford FA Cup https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mp3MyaHN998&feature=youtube_gdata_player The best I could find.
  20. Yeah man I would love it, unless he's become a snail of sorts.
  21. http://www.smh.com.au/sport/soccer/wanderer-aaron-mooy-in-hearts-sights-20140125-31ffa.html Western Sydney Wanderers midfielder Aaron Mooy could become the first big name to join Melbourne Heart's radical transformation next season. The 23-year old has been linked with a move to the club which will undergo the biggest revolution in Australian football when the plans of new owners Manchester City kick into action. While City's billionaire owners can only invest so much in players given the restraints of the salary cap, they are set to go hunting for the league's top talent over the next six months. Mooy has made a name for himself as an elegant ball player with the Wanderers but has found himself in a three-way fight for one of the two defensive midfield positions, alongside Iacopo La Rocca and Mateo Poljak. Advertisement His preferred position is as an attacking midfielder but as Shinji Ono has been there since the club's first game, Mooy has been a victim of circumstances and wants to pursue opportunities elsewhere. Heart officials refused to comment on the speculation but the Wanderers will be hoping to keep Mooy given Ono's pending departure. The ex-Japanese international has agreed a move to J-League second-division side Consadole Sapporo. Mooy, who has scored two goals in his 36 appearances for the Wanderers, has already been linked with a move to the Newcastle Jets, something that may still eventuate if the Jets can match Heart's offer. Meanwhile, Wanderers coach Tony Popovic wants to get his side refocused on Sunday's crucial match against Perth Glory at Parramatta Stadium. Perth go into the match as arguably the form side of the competition, having climbed into the top six following a resurgence under new coach Kenny Lowe. They could move to equal fourth with a win over the Wanderers. ''We've just got to concentrate on our performance. Perth is doing well and Kenny is doing a great job there and I'm pleased for him,'' Popovic said. ''But they're coming to our place here and if we can perform and build on our last home game, if we play to our capabilities then we should really be confident to get the three points.'' Popovic has emphasised all week to his players the importance of punishing their opponents around goal, something they failed to do in their defeats against Adelaide and Melbourne Victory. ''They're doing well defensively certainly but we know we'll get the opportunities,'' Popovic said. ''We were a bit disappointed with our final ball and decision-making against Adelaide where we got in some good areas. So we know that we're good enough to get in the areas regardless of who the opponent is, and if we can get in those areas again I'm confident with the work the boys have done this week we can finish some of those opportunities off.'' After playing three matches in an eight-day stretch, the Wanderers have enjoyed a full week to prepare for this game, which their coach believes will make a significant difference. ''We've had a good week on the training ground, which is nice because we haven't had a full week in a little while,'' Popovic said. ''I think the boys have enjoyed that and spirits are high.'' He said he was hopeful of getting some players back from injury in time for kick-off on Sunday. ''We've just got to be careful,'' he said. ''The last time I said that, we lost three or four players in a day. If everyone pulls through, we'll potentially have a few more players available for selection. Getting a couple back would be nice.'' Popovic said Nikolai Topor-Stanley and Matt Spiranovic were ''a chance'' of coming back but that Jerome Polenz and Poljak would remain sidelined. Seems a bit premature to me, who knows?
  22. I don't know, I don't know anyone who follows man U and never liked them myself. Even though I have allways kept an eye on LUFC, I can't say I was passionate and will see myself part of the City Group! On the fourfourtwo Australian website, it seems most would see it as the great opportunity it is. Except for our rivals, ha ha ha.
